The host was just lovely. Rooms are great and very comfortable. The house is not in the busiest area, which is no issue because of the free bikes you can use. Plenty of restaurants easily reachable and the lake is just across the street. You can use the private Onsen in the house, which is super nice!
Not too easy to get there by public transport. In case you come by bus, get off at Yamanakako-murayakuba-mae (Station #143). From there it is a 1min walk.

The room was very comfortable and also very clean. I appreciated that there was some little booklet with recommendations about where to get a nice view of Mt. Fuji, restaurants, etc. I also checked out one of the both spots and got a very nice view. Bicycles are also provided, which are very convenient to get around here. I usually don't ride bicycles, but I loved doing it here in this area. Being able to book the onsen for yourself, so you get about 1 hour to relax is also a very nice experience.
I had some insect in my bed and one on the table right after checking in. Of course there are lot in the countryside, but maybe a fly screen would be nice to use for the rooms.

Firstly the host. She is so friendly and welcoming despite not knowing much English. When you get settled into your room, she sits down with you to go over the amenities and things to do in the area. Love that. The Japanese style room with the tatami floors is a must at least once for your stay in Japan. It was actually more comfortable than expected. The bath was unbelievable. It was also an amazing value. 2 nights felt like the perfect amount. It was the perfect break after dealing with the chaos of Tokyo.
If you’re booking this, then you should already know the Lake Yamanaka area is not the same as the Lake Kawaguchi area. Yamanaka is not as touristy and thus is bit harder to get to and has less to do. Renting a car to us was mandatory but cost was offset by how affordable our stay was. Why stay in some cramped hotel when you can have this experience? In closing, there really wasn’t anything we disliked but I understand some people may not like the remoteness.

First time in a traditional Ryokan. The room was spacious and there were a heating system under the table and another heater in the room so you weren't cold. The duvets were also good and kept you warm all night. There is a really good Hoto noodle place near by. Nice views of Mt. Fuji in clear weather. And a nice path around the entire lake just outside the accommodation.
The beds were a little hard to sleep on as you sleep on the floor. There was no breakfast but there was a fridge in the room so we could store our drinks and food. It was a little far from the conveniece stores. Staff barely speak English, so translators are useful. A little tricky with public transport when off-season (Season appeared to be mid-April to December)

The staff is friendly and attentive to our needs. Very kind and welcoming! CLEAN ONSEN. Reservations for family Onsen times - tattoo friendly. Refrig and hot water kettle in room. Great location near the lake! Parking onsite. Free bikes available!
I found a futon to be adequate but I truly wish I were carrying my thermarest for added thickness under the futon. I am in Japan, so It’s not fair that I would make negative comment regarding sleeping mats. Stains on chairs need attention.

The hotel is in a beautiful location right by Lake Yamanake. Walking distance to several restaurants and shops. There were free bikes to borrow which we did one morning, to cycle around the lake. The bikes are very small though so if you are over 1,70 m it may be better to rent a larger bike which they had at a rental location about 1 km down the road, for a small fee. There is free coffee and tea downstairs and a small terrace to sit in front, for self-brought food. The couple owning the hotel are lovely and very helpful. The rooms have private toilets and sinks, but the shower and bath are available to book per the hour and are out in the corridor. The showers and bath were clean and very nice.
The beds - Japanese futons - were not so comfortable for us as we are not used to sleep on a thin mattress. The massage chairs available in the corridor helped for our sore backs though 😅.

The lady and her husband run the whole place by themselves but will happily help you to store your luggage and place it in your room. Free refreshments are just on the dining room with a terrace outside. Incredibly huge rooms with private toilet even though you also have toilets in the corridor just in case you need to use it and the one in your room is occupied! The bath has a booking system by room number and you get to use it for one-hour slot but can use the shower in the morning from 7.30 until 9am which is also great as they will be cleaning later on. Exceptionally clean facilities!
The rooms are cold at night so you need to keep the heating on or you will wake up with a cold (that happened to me unfortunately) even though the futons are really warm. We didn't drive or use car, we came by bus from Tokyo. That was our mistake as the hotel is slightly far from the village and the main bus stop that takes you to Gotemba and Mishima Stations (it took us around 30mins from the Hotel to the bus stop)

The owners were absolutely amazing! Any time there was a question or concern, they were very eager to help and make sure things got taken care of. They even helped us get food, since the nearest restaurant was a bit far to walk and we haven't ridden bikes in so long she was worried about us. Her willingness to make us as comfortable as possible was very much appreciated. The room was spacious and the pictures online were accurate. The Japanese bath was beautiful and so relaxing. I would definitely stay here again, if ever near the area again.
The only real issue was the air conditioning. Japan doesn't have much central heat and air, and the room was very stuffy upon entering. We didn't get the AC to work right ourselves, but once we asked how to do it, the lady helped and the room got much better. She even let us borrow a fan for the room. So, although it was a "dislike" at first, the help from her made it a wonderful experience overall!

Even though it seems odd at the beginning, the fact to book a 55 min slot for the baths is great. Like this you have all the pleasure to enjoy it by yourself. To note that the shower is only available during the slot booked or in the morning but only during 7h30-9h00 am.
The house is named International Guest House but there is nothing international here. The landlords are really kind but they do not speak english. For restaurants recommandation, except the opening hours, the rest is written in Japanese. Not really helpful.

The location is out of the way if you're taking transit, but it is right on the lake and the view of Mount Fuji and the lake is a short bike ride away - plus they have bikes to rent for free! The rooms were spacious and comfortable, there was a space heater and heated table in our room. The traditional bed was super comfortable. It was a great surprise to have an almost onset experience with their baths - you can book a spot for an hour and it was amazing. The couple doesn't speak much English, but are still attentive and friendly. My highlight of our trip!
