We stayed 2 nights at Yamanaka Lake Ryozan with our daughter. We arrived late in the evening after a long day at Gotemba. Arriving late was no problem for our hosts. The room was great with beautiful Tatami mats. It was very cold outside but the heater provided in the room made it very cosy. Our daughter loved rolling out our futons that night to make our beds and wearing the yukaya bathrode provided. The hot baths were also great and unexpected. We woke up the following morning opened the curtains and found Mt Fuji towering above us. Our room had the best view. Our breakfast was Japanese-style with salmon, fish, pickles, miso soup etc and much-needed coffee. We loved it but our daughter was struggling with it. Our beautiful host noticed this and brought her a mandarin and a cake instead, which was such a lovely gesture. The Ryozan was very clean and tidy. It also had a cute bar tent outside which unfortunately we didn't get a chance to try. We had to leave very early on our last day and unfortunately left our daughter's hand luggage, which we didn't realise until we got to Odawara. Our daughter was devastated. Our hosts found the bag and messaged us asking for directions on how to get the bag to us. They kindly packaged this up and sent it to our hotel in Osaka. Our daughter was thrilled. This was such an amazing thing for them to do and we were so grateful to them for doing this. Can't recommend Lake Yamanaka Ryozan enough. If you are after a homely but authentic stay near the Lake and Mt Fuji, with beautiful hosts, this is the place for you.

Nothing.

Traditional room or tatami room was comfortable and the space was enough for me and my two grownups, but we can hear the people talking in the next room. The shared bathroom and restroom are a bit distance from our room. You can’t buy breakfast in the facility unless you booked it with breakfast included. So we have to take a taxi to get to any restaurant as the facility is not accessible to restaurants or convenience stores. The facility is even far from bus and train station. We took a taxi from Kawaguchiko to Yamanakako Ryozan because the distance from Yamanakako station to the Ryozan was almost the same fare from Yamaguchiko station.

This property is located in rural area that is not easy access to a restaurant, convenient store and transportation. They only make breakfast to those who booked with breakfast included. You can’t buy breakfast from them. It was time consuming to communicate with them as they don’t speak English. We have to use a language translator app.

We didn't get breakfast you had to pay for separate passage. It would have been nice if this was a normal passage or was included in the booking on the site.

I didn't like that food wasn't included in the basic passage. It also is somewhat off the beaten path and hard to find, but that isn't the fault of the residence itself.

Our stay was simply delightful! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and were incredibly accommodating. They were patient and understanding, especially with my limited Japanese skills, which made the experience even more pleasant. The facilities were lovely and gave us a taste of traditional Japanese-style accommodation. Everything was well-maintained and designed for convenience and comfort. We truly wished we could have stayed longer to fully enjoy all the amenities and explore more of the surrounding area. One highlight of our stay was the onsen experience. It was a good introduction to onsen culture, as the facility was small and quiet. This made it easier for us as Westerners to get used to public bathing and enjoy the relaxing benefits of the onsen without feeling overwhelmed. Overall, our experience was fantastic, and we highly recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable stay, especially for those interested in trying out an onsen for the first time.

Very sweet staff.

No aircon. Slightly dirty. Stained futon mattress. Slightly dirty toilet walls.

We had breakfast, traditional and go tasty. Room had heater and it was good, location was fine. He property was very clean and bathrooms too. They had bikes and lend them to us for the day, which was amazing!! It’s like 10 min walk to the main road. We arrived and left the facility by taxi to Horemba station, like 30 minutes ride. A supermarket is kinda close, less than 10 min by bike. Lining was clean, room had a small fridge and the lady at the lobby was suuuuper kind and helpful!

Not a big fan of shared bathroom. Also showers are shared, but it’s typic ones (Onsen) different experience.

Although the location was a little bit away from the shops there was a lovely café (and dog park) across the road, so everything was close enough to have a really enjoyable stay. I chose this location because I wanted to be as close to Fuji as I could, and I wasn't disappointed! The hotel borders on woodlands, and I saw deer in the forest just behind the hotel. Really recommend. The woman who seemed to run the place was lovely.

Authentic room but on a campsite. Staff on site only sometimes and do not speak good English. All stay we had people renovating the floor from 5am!

Staff could be more helpful. I thought they were annoyed with us when they could not understand what we were saying. We were asking about the transport. They proposed a route for us and when we said we wanted to go differently they just left the room hahah.

Breakfast outstanding, home-cooked generous meals. Comfortable and fun. All facilities were well-maintained. The staff were friendly and positive, even while managing busloads of tourists. One woman who seemed to be the owner was smiling and greeting people in the lobby.

Bathing facilities were small and very simple (only one tub, one room). Could fit maybe 3 bathers and that's all. Overall still pleasant, and didn't detract from the stay!

It was very traditional and the staff was always very helpful, even though they knew little English but we managed! The onsen experience was good. It is in a very quiet area

The room size was manageable. It is a little far from main attractions around Fuji. 10mins away from a bus stop. Ideal to travel with car.
