The staff was super friendly and the room very cozy. They had an aurora wake up call that allowed us to see the northern lights.

Food was expensive.

Radiant heated floors in the bathroom was incredible. Staff was very accommodating and very social. Food was exceptional. Given the date we booked, we were actually the only guests in the hotel which I understand is HIGHLY unusual (apparently few travelers drive Northern Iceland in the winter we are from the Midwest USA so we decided to do it anyway). Hotel has a hot tub, that we of course made use of, they gave us robes and sandals. Breakfast in the morning was incredible. I can simply say this place was exceptional and we plan to stay here on our next visit.

I really didn't dislike anything.

The location and the view of the pseudo craters was really lovely. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The included breakfast is quite the spread and lots of options! I liked the towel warmer in the bathroom a lot! The area surrounding the hotel is pretty dark so you can get a great view of the northern lights (and they provide a wake up call).

This hotel was our most expensive during our 3 weeks in Iceland and the value just wasn't there. This is a cruise ship hotel so it's constant in and out of people and tour buses early morning and late evening. The facility is very old and outdated, you could feel the springs in the bed, our room still wasn't clean and ready even after check in time, the layout/flow of the hotel is a bit wonky, the furniture is very very old, and the walls are pretty thin. Unfortunately I wouldn't stay here again as the cost of $300 USD per night just isnt on par with the accomodations.

The staffs are friendly and very helpful. Room is clean. Breakfast is great. Very convenient place to stay as I visited many places around Myvatn. Some review said gas station was noisy, but I got room next to that for 3 nights and heard nothing. I had a nice sleep through my stay here. There is a pool table, nice common area, for hanging out with friends/family.

There are some reviews complaining about being old and dusty. But my room was ok. I guess the place went through a bit of renovation. I always prefer not to have carpet floor. Even though it is warm and cozy, but much harder to clean, and I really don't like it dusty.

Sel - Hótel Mývatn An OK stay, neither great nor bad. We appreciated the size and comfort of the family room, which could sleep up to 4. My dad enjoyed the jacuzzi/spa. The swarming midges in Myrvatn somehow didn’t get into the hotel which was a nice relief. It was nice that they give free tea and coffee, which weren’t bad actually. The included breakfast was underwhelming when juxtaposed with the general restaurant offerings. I hoped/expected for a more interesting local breakfast (local cheese, skyr yogurt, etc) since it’s right next door to a farm, and the dairy items (like the ice cream we had the night before) were specifically called out on the dinner menu. The breakfast skyr flavored yogurt tasted super sweet and store-bought, and the geyser bread wasn’t fully cooked. They also had one of those waffle makers and batter where you make your own waffles - which kind of gave me Quality inn chain hotel vibes. We definitely ate enough but left a little unsatisfied. Overall the stay was fine and another place to sleep on the ring road.

The staff was great. Helpful. Friendly. Genuine. Breakfast was very good with lots of options. My room was much too big for a solo traveler but i was told they only book double rooms. Room had a big tv with Netflix. Location was also nice. Right across from the lake and craters on the main road. A little ice cream spot was next door.

Everything was great BUT this place was REALLY expensive. I understand its busy Summer season but i booked well in advance and I must not have been paying close attention because they charge the going rate of a five star resort in NYC.

Location is terrific with neat walking experience across the street amongst the craters. The young man at reception was wonderful as were all of our food servers. They do an excellent job of cleaning the entire hotel. The food was excellent at dinner and breakfast. 24/7 coffee/hot drinks was greatly appreciated.

A minor thing: The sauna wasn’t quite hot enough but it was still a bonus. It’s an older property but they maximize all of it.

Great location at the Myvatn Lake side but still quiet at night, very comfortable beds and bedsheets, great breakfast selection. Free coffee in the lobby, pool table, hot tub and sauna outside. Heating very strong and immediate warmth in the room after switching on. Bus groups hotel stopover for the night, but not disturbing.

All ok apart from our room should have been sound-proofed, but people walking above made the sound proof pannels creak.. so not ideal for falling asleep if you are a light sleeper ( or maybe just our room I cannot compare). I first thought there is a mouse in the room, but then realized it's the pannels on the ceiling. For the price we have paid (highest of all Iceland 14days journey), it could have been better isolated. Otherwise no negatives and we LOVED the bed sheets!

This was the best hotel we stayed in Iceland. The free amenities (Sauna, Hot tub, pool billiard, bathrobe, flip flops, etc.) and the free breakfast were just great. The room was modern and spacious. The northern lights wake up call is a wonderful free service (we didn't have any luck though). The location is incredible across from a volcano walking trail. Seriously, we were so excited when we saw what the hotel offers for such little money (in March). Will definitely stay here again when I return. Thank you!

Really nothing can be mentioned.

Everything was really good here....the hotel facilities were fantastic - a pool table and a darts corner, a sauna and outdoor hot tubs along with bath robes and sleepers to use. A hot drinks corner available throughout the day. The buffet breakfast was full range. All the above were free for hotel guests! We also had our best dinner at the hotel restaurant. We had trout fillet and prawn main course which was lovely. The location was also perfect for us....we were able to just walk across to the Myvatn lake and was fortunate to catch a glorious display of aurora that night with our naked eyes.

Nothing that we didn't like.
