Great location Rooms clean and tidy Good breakfast

We have been to this hotel a lot and this year they have changed the way they serve breakfast and it’s not as good. You used to be able to sit in the bar area and have the view this year it was up in the back room. The tea and coffee used to be served individually in pots but now it’s in a big flask on the table for everyone to help themselves. The coffee is very weak and the tea is stewed. Go back to individual pots please! Also there were no croissants or pastries this year

Lovely location in a pretty harbour. The room and hotel overall was clean and comfortable. Having recently been disappointed with hospitality elsewhere on the West coast, we were a bit apprehensive about what this hotel would be like. But it suited us perfectly. Comfortable beds, clean, lovely views and breakfast was delicious. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

The WiFi didn’t work in our room, but as we had good 4G signal, it didn’t bother us. Shower was a bit weak, but that is completely normal and expected in old buildings when up on a high floor. It worked and was clean, so that was the main thing.

The Anchor Hotel is located next to the pretty harbour with plenty of free parking right outside. Our room was on the top floor which had quite small windows so we couldn't see the lovely view. The room had very comfy double and single beds, a separate ensuite shower and toilet, television, iron, hairdryer and tea making facilities. When we visited at the end of November it was cold but the room soon heated up when we adjusted the thermostat for the radiators. The inclusive breakfast was outstanding and I highly recommend their slant on a cooked breakfast which included delicious haggis and black pudding. We also dinned in the restaurant which also offered delicious fayre.

The lack of view from the small windows, other family members in room below had a fantastic view

Staff were very friendly, and nothing was a problem for them. Room looked onto the harbour and was really pretty, Was a good base to do some exploring or just relax and chill. The room was decorated with matching headboard, stool and pelmet, and the bedding had the most amazing fresh fragrance which you could smell as soon as you entered the room. Breakfast was very enjoyable with plenty choice and the staff very attentive. I can recommend the porridge, it was delicious, served with honey and cream. 😁

I found the bed pretty hard but that is just a personal choice on my part, and it certainly wouldn't put me off using the hotel again.

Restaurant for dinner. Great breakfast. Room 3 (third window far right in photo) on first floor looking out to harbour. Easy parking.

Bathroom is old and needs a deep clean. Photos added with a photo from out next hotel showing how a towel rail ought to look. Small rooms. Standard and size of room doesn’t merit the £100 price tag. Scotland has a high standard but not here.

The staff are very hard working and pleasant,it was really busy on the date I stayed and the evening mark and breakfast were well cooked and tasty

Could hear the people in the next room speaking till late on in the night , and disappointingly when I turned down the bed the bottom sheet hadn’t been fitted correctly , when I adjusted it I found the mattress had an enormous brown stain on it and a rip in the fabric , as it was late and the staff were busy in the restaurant I just turned the mattress over and it was stain free so was ok , but they really need to renew the mattress in room 3

The staff was very welcoming and accommodating. We were travelling with 3 small children and they made us feel supported and included. The restaurant was wonderful, food fresh and delicious. Having breakfast included was a bonus. Lots of selection, delicious and the chef even put a candle in our daughter’s eggs for her birthday! They really go above and beyond for the guests here. We would definitely stay again!

Exceptional choice of meals and desserts. Friendly staff. Good choice of hot meals at breakfast as well as cereals and yoghurts to help yourself.

As its a small town, there's not many places to eat. So make sure you do book early if wanting to eat at any restaurant. We didn't have much choice but to stay at the hotels restaurant, due to bank holiday and everywhere either closed or full. This resulted in us having to eat late (20:15) but they sat us down when we arrived at 20:00 as we went for a drink initially. But the service and food made up for our late slot. The food was amazing. This is not such a negative for the hotel, it's the best they could do to assist us at check in that day due to the volume of people using the hotel and others that chose to eat from outside the hotel from its reputation and lack of choice.

The dining room and breakfast area are delightful with a comfortable ambiance and tasteful, modern decor. The menu is extensive and the food well presented and delicious. All staff were friendly, efficient and took care with cleanliness. The owner couldn’t have been more helpful. All the facilities you would expect in the room were there and small improvements are continually being made as required.

Nothing, although a little more room space to move around would be good.

The hotel, the room, the bed, all fine. Views over the bay from the room are very nice. The woman that looked after us at breakfast was amazing! You would have thought there was a team of five people looking after the breakfast room, but it was just her! And... and... she was handling checkout as well! A one woman phenomenon.

There is a pub next to the hotel and, on the Friday night that we stayed at the hotel, there was live music till 1am. It wasn't ideal for getting a good night's sleep.
