Cozy place with nice living room and parking lots available directly at the house. Hosts are super friendly, self-served breakfast allows for turning off the alarm :) check-in went smooth. Would definitely return and can absolutely recommend!

Traffic noise with open windows (but no issue when windows are closed!).

Our room was clean & shared living room was very comfortable. Close to Old town & University campus. Could walk into the city. Staff were very friendly & accommodating.

The room was small & there was some noise from the street & students nearby. Otherwise our stay at as very pleasant, staff were very friendly & helpful. Would definitely recommend & stay again.

Excellent stay at Jays Guest House. Nothing was too much trouble for this helpful & friendly couple! Instructions on getting keys & how things are run were very well delivered. There is a spotless clean & all you need communal kitchen for our use. Breakfast was self serve with fresh yogurt, fruit, pancakes, pastries, toast, tea & coffee. There is a washing service at a small cost. The pricing of rooms was friendly. The rooms cosy, clean & comfortable. Hidden gem in Aberdeen.. 10mins from town & the beach! Perfect stay! Highly recommended. That’s where I’ll be stopping over from now on!

I was a student at the University of Aberdeen between 2010-2014. Having visited only once since, I decided to visit again, this time with my partner. The things we both really liked included: 1. The overall communication. Although we did not get a chance to meet the owners as our check-in time was somewhat late and checkout rather early, Anna's communication regarding ways to check-in, details about breakfast, house rules, and places to see nearby were communicated by a detailed text and an incredibly informative video. 2. The space itself was incredibly homely. It's lovely to stay in. Had we stayed longer I would have loved to sit in the living room for a bit and read. 3. Aberdeen is generally a small city, but this location was ideal for me. It is a stone's throw away from the University and we both quickly went on a walk around the University, then through Seaton park towards the Brig O Balgownie and then back over the Esplanade. My partner loved the beach. 4. The room itself was lovely. We loved the owner's aesthetic sensibilities. The place was clean, the shower was great, and the bed was incredibly comfortable.

There was nothing we both could think of that we did not particularly like. This is more of a suggestion for anyone wanting to do a one day trip. We came back to the guest house after midnight after having had a walk around the city. Since check-out was at 10am next morning we thought it would be wise to shower before going to bed as it had been a long day having stopped at Stonehaven and hiked for a couple of hours on our way in. I think the hot water boiler is turned off after a certain time so there isn't any hot water late in the night. Just a heads up for anyone who has similar plans.

The owners are incredible, helpful and very friendly. The room was very comfortable and warm (which was much appreciated during a snow storm) and spare pillows and an additional blanket were already present in the room. Breakfast was enjoyable, with a variety of cold options alongside toast, toasties, juice, tea and coffee. They also sell some handmade items in the breakfast room that were fun to browse through and are very adorable.

The only slight downside that I experienced is that the rooms aren’t well insulated from the noise of the rest of the guest house, and my room was at the top of the stairs (although I had requested a quiet room), so I had to hear everyone who came up the stairs. However, given how great the rest of the guest house was, I’m extremely happy and definitely recommend it.

This is a gem of a place! Visiting Aberdeen to see friends (and also needed to work too) this guest house was simply perfect for me. Great points for a fantastic stay: Very easy to understand self check in - This is by video and detailed instructions so you can't go wrong and can check in to suit your travel arrangements. Very clean everywhere - room and bed super comfy, tea making facilities in the room. Parking available at the back of the building and also plenty on street too. This was perfect for me, I was given the back door key and was able to come and go that way when I parked up and take my dog in and out that way for walks. Make your own breakfast - is perfect. There is no waste this way, there's plenty of cereals, toast, pancakes and condiments. If you are wanting to have some of your own things or something cooked you can do that as there is a fully fitted and functioning kitchen. Just bring / buy your items and keep them in the fridge and cook as needed. You can have a takeaway delivered to the guest house (or bring it back) and are welcomed to eat in the kitchen and dining room using the crockery and facilities. They have a large lounge which has comfy chairs and music to delight too in the guise of LOADS of CD's - I sat in here during a couple of evenings and enjoyed playing some CD's while I was there. The guest house is within easy walking distance of the town and also the beach. There are also buses just along the road. The beach is really lovely and one day I walked from the guest house, through the interesting cemetery across the road, through the back streets into the town. Then around the docks areas, seeing the boats and ferries that take you to the Islands. Coming back we went via Fit Dee which is a fabulous time warped experience and came back along the coast to the guest house - couldn't be better for an urban walk !

Nothing Really apart from perhaps being able to stay a few days longer :) I did try to change my plans and stay a few days longer, but Jay's is very popular so it didn't work out for me this time !

Perfect for our needs. Easy check in. Lovely well presented and clean room with all facilities. Bathroom opposite our room across the hall worked well. Self catering kitchen is outstanding. Lounge room just like home. The host and staff are on site to assist with breakfast and present a very welcoming dining area. Great position for exploring Aberdeen and the amazing old town area, university, cathedral, which is a must. Highly recommend this outstanding guest house. Keith & Anne (Australia)

No negatives from our point of view

We got single rooms, so the single beds, although comfy, are just that, single beds. But still pretty comfy! The location is excellent! The house is simply beautiful. The rooms were very clean, the shower was strong and the water hot. Breakfast is ok, no hot food, the fruit was a bit old, but the granola was yummy and with the other guests staying, it kind of felt like a distant family get together in the best pissible sense of the word. Would I stay again? Yes, in a heartbeat. Would I recommend it? I am recommending it to you right now! Haha

Hot brekkie and that we had to leave.

Stayed overnight. Self-check in accomodation. Fantastic communication with the owners. Everything explained to the dot, hence late check in was very smooth. Greatly equipped kichen with all you need for the start of the day or even to cook a proper meal if needed. Bedroom and communal areas were spotless, warm and very cosy. Parking behind the house - free of charge. Highly recommend the place if you are in Aberdeen.

I could check in very late thanks to the very detailed instruction video of my hosts Anna and Gaurav where to park my car and how to get my keys. The room was very cozy with a very comfortable bed. Both the room and the bathroom were impeccably clean. The next day in the morning I had a very nice chat with Gaurav about traveling, politics and the world in general 😀. I wish I could have stayed one night longer.
