The "old world" charm of Thainstone House gives it a relaxing historic feel and with the addition of the spa and amenities lifts it into a modern welcoming visit ...staff are very friendly and polite ..go the extra mile to ensure your stay is relaxing and stress free ...food is lovely with good portions ..rooms are clean warm comfortable with everything you need for your stay ...the grounds are well kept and the hotel itself is a lovely building ...all in all we had a great weekend for our 50th wedding anniversary

Only on a personal level could do with new snooker cues for the game room 😄...could nit pic but nothing else was worth a mention

Stunning period hotel, exceptionally accommodating. Beautiful grounds and excellent facilities for the perfect relaxing atmosphere. We enjoyed a few delicious meals from the hotel and chose to also dine out with a short drive to Inverurie you are given the opportunity to dine in the bars and restaurants there at competitive prices. We stayed with our dog and loved the treats and toys she was given on arrival a very thoughtful touch. Our dog also had water waiting for her once we reached our room. The rooms are spacious and very clean with beautiful decor that compliments the flow of the hotel the rooms also supplying everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The staff were very helpful and informative and exceptionally well dressed which I loved. We will most certainly be returning in the future.

Nothing really

our bedroom was perfect.

unlimited staff cover. Had to wait at bar for 40 mins to be served, as staff member covering 3 places. staff not very professional. Public rooms bar area diningroom area dirty and in need of some TLC. Ask to have fire put on as cold in the bar area and drawing room and was told both chimneys blocked. Meal was nice but over priced for what was given 5 Days before my arrival while in spain. I tried to connect the hotel to pre-book spa and dinner reservation by email and called twice on days before arrival with no answer on phone or email. which ment when I arrived I was too late to book Spa, dinner time was not time I wanted. Hope there will be changes before my next visit as this is one of my favourite hotels.

This is a beautiful character hotel within close proximity of Aberdeen. The grounds were beautiful and the room and communal areas were full of character, with room names such as Nursery and Nanny's. If you like that kind of character, this is really a great place, and is very good value for money. I enjoyed the dinner, and the quality of the food, but the food is quite 'complicated', with many unusual ingredients combined, so ideal for the more adventurous eater but not so much for fussy eaters. The staff did accommodate requests (we asked at short notice for a mousse with no gelatin for a vegetarian for instance which they provided and made from scratch), and the staff indeed were brilliant: nothing was too much to ask, so so helpful. The pool is on the smaller side and a bit old -fashioned but nice and warm. After 5pm, a number of outside visitors also used it so it became a bit busy but it was very quiet when we first arrived and is big enough for a swim. Again, the staff were wonderful!

The only drawback was the cleanliness. Old buildings are difficult to keep clean but there was a lot of dust on the furniture in the room on both days, and some hair on the carpet when we checked-in. The communal carpeted area could do with a deep steam clean as well, or even replacement, as carpets are often frayed and stained, again with a lot of dust on stairs. This is a shame as it does not give the right impression for what is otherwise a beautiful hotel. To be clear, the bathroom itself was new and spotless. The wifi did not reach our room which was not a problem for us but could be if you are aiming to work from your room.

Super comfy bed! I could’ve stayed in it all day long. The room was rather large and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Lobby and surrounding common areas are absolutely incredible. So beautiful. I wish I could’ve stayed more than one night. Breakfast is not to be missed! It was excellent.

Believe it or not, the staff was a little cold. I expected more warmth and personality. For example, when I went to check out, the lady at reception just said “that’s it!” She didn’t ask how my stay was, or how I was doing that day, or anything. Just said, “That’s it!” That really turned me off after having such a lovely stay.

Pool is very nice. Loved the old photos in the public areas. Very nice tea tray with unexpected extras. Cheerful staff.

Overhead lighting not working in room 308, but staff moved us. Ladies changing room at the pool was unheated and freezing cold. The hotel is clearly being upgraded slowly but is is still very nice in an old fashioned but appropriate way as befits a large Victorian mansion. Pricing was appropriate and good value.

Wonderful stay with the family, the house is uniquely decorated and has a warm welcoming vibe . The room was so lovely and clean , bed very comfortable. The food was delicious and beautifully served. Kids enjoyed playing the piano and chess in the public areas. The pool , jakuzzi and the steam room were also an awesome experience for us all . Showers and changing rooms clean in the pool area. We only regretted one thing and that was that we only booked this hotel for 1 night( we were on a road trip so was only meant to be 1 night stop for rest ) soon after checking in and realising how nice it is down there we wanted to stay for longer but the hotel was fully booked (of course- it’s so nice there ) so our advice would be stay for 2 nights at least if you can . Fantastic experience for our family.

I loved the hotel and the oldness blended with new. The bed was the comfiest bed I've ever slept in. The room was lovely. And I loved seeing the Christmas trees they were stunning. The restaurant food was lovely and the surroundings. The staff were nice and friendly and polite.

I thought the breakfast could have been better or maybe a buffet style set up but over all was a brilliant stay and everything was perfect.
