The beauty of the island and the hotel convinced us to give up the next stop in Tulum, nowadays impracticable, and extend our stay here. We stayed in both the bungalows and the standard rooms and we can assure they are both very nice. The hotel is on the best part of the beach and is a easy 5-10 minute walk via playa from the center of town, full of life with many bar and restaurants even on the way walking, even if the streets are flooded. In addition to the very kind staff you will be in the company of two beautiful cats and a family of raccoons. A special thanks to Adam, great concierge who helped us excellently during our stay.

Leaving

Nice bungalows, close to the beach. The style is very rustic, which is nice, you feel like sleeping in the jungle. Breakfast was amazing, staff was very kind and helpful, the room was cleaned every day. Rooms were big and cosy.

Only one thing - there are no sun umbrellas at the beach, so if you want to enjoy the private beach, you have to stay exposed to the burning sun.

Adam, Eva, Andrés and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to make your stay the best it can be. The daily breakfast was delicious, with many meals to choose from. Different, fresh juice every morning. Spotlessly clean dining area, in- and outdoors. The bungalows are very roomy, airy and have mosquito netting for the bed, as well as fully screened windows. You have air conditioning as well as a ceiling fan. It is a small enough resort to make you feel welcome and recognized.

The facilities are aging, many of the wood plank boardwalks and decks are in disrepair. There are no fridges in the individual rooms. The restaurant is not open for lunch or dinner. The pool bar is not open at all. If you get a pool view bungalow, it will be at the family pool (think crying children, shouting parents, diaper-wearing kids in the pool) even if you are a senior couple. You need to choose ocean view to be by the adult only pool. "Reserving" beach chairs by leaving your towel on them is allowed. At the time we were there, there were rolling blackouts (periodic complete power outages) meaning no water available either.

Perfect location; it was direct access to the beach - ocean, it was close enough to the busier, commercial town square to walk there and all bar foot (if you want to). Eva upgraded us to a Bungalow what we very much apricated. The bungalow was very spacious and the hammock outside the porch was a nice touch. Adam at the front desk was very helpful and was helping us to reserve a shuttle van even on his day off, thank you so much Adam. All the staff where very friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was good location was good the staff was friendly, except for one bald I think he was a guy who worked the front desk for a day. In my opinion has no business doing that job.

From initial check-in with Adam, we felt welcomed and comfortable. The location for us was perfect. It's an easy 10 minute walk along the firm "foot path" of the beach to get into the main part of town. The site is a few years old and shows it in some places but they clearly work hard to maintain it and keep it clean and functioning. We were in the rear structure that is 2 floors of rooms with an abandoned large roof deck on the 3rd floor of the structure. Our A/C unit was quite new and very quiet. The room was quiet. Breakfast was good - small fruit plate, coffee, juice and a choice of menu items. Although we would not return to Holbox, it is nothing against the Xaloc hotel. Adam was awesome as were most of the ground/service staff.

Holbox is clearly over-developed now. It's very expensive and yet there seems to be little $ put back into the infrastructure. We would not return to Holbox. As one gets closer to the main town, the over-development of Holbox and attraction of the "instagram/look at me" kind of crown becomes apparent with many beach front bars blasting music in the afternoon and evening. Some of the restaurants in town also do the same. As for any negatives about the hotel. Not much, it's mid-priced and has a good usable beach area in front. But we wish there was at least a small fridge to have a few chilled drinks. If you buy some cold beer from the nearby store, there's no way to keep it cold.

I had a fantastic stay at Holbox by Xaloc, which truly exceeded my expectations. Everything was perfect—the location, the beautiful surroundings, and the unique and charming chalets. The traditional-style accommodations added a lovely, authentic touch, and the pool was a huge hit, especially with the kids. The whole environment felt like a little oasis, peaceful yet vibrant. The hotel is perfectly situated right by the beach and just a short walk to the center with all the shops and restaurants. We only stayed for one night, which was such a pity, but we definitely plan to return for a longer stay. Highly recommended!

The WI-FI was available only near the reception.

Room was wonderful. Changed to bungalow at the family pool and loved it. Really clean. Breakfast was wonderful, although could open up earlier than 8 am. Beach was super close and easy walk to the main downtown area along the beach. Family pool was lovely! Staff was amazing, especially Adam, who was excellent.

Explanation on the website about the adult pool and family pool, and photos (maybe aerial) would be good to understand the layout of the property. Slight maintenance needed on the deck around the family pool and some loungers. Holbox in general unfortunately has been over developed and their infrastructure has not kept up. I would do research on the island and understand sustainability practices before visiting.

This property was perfect for our stay in Holbox. It’s situated far enough away from the main hustle and bustle to have quiet, but close enough to walk back and forth for lunch and dinner. We were given an unexpected upgrade to a sea view from the garden view, which provided a wonderful breeze at night. The staff were friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the towel creations each time our room was cleaned. Breakfast was included and they offer decent options. The fresh juice each morning was great. The pool was clean and just the right size (and I appreciated that they had one for adults only).

The pillows were uncomfortable, but overall the bed wasn’t bad. My only complaint would be that the outdoor lights around the pool and grounds remained on all night and were really bright.

The accommodation - and the people working there - are fantastic. It was our third accommodation in Holbox and certainly didn't disappoint. We stayed in the bungalow - which is definitely to be preferred above the apartments if you can afford it. The bungalows are spacious, comfortable beds and an hangmat - among other things. Everyday the housekeeping made sure the bungalow felt brand new. It had a romantic vibe to it. The breakfast was great - multiple options and fresh fruits and the surrounding is lush green. Above all, the staff made sure we had an amazing time. The only downside - which has been mentioned in the reviews - is the wifi. Or the lack thereof. To be honest, the lack of wifi does help in tuning off from work and being in the moment. But it definitely needs some improvement. Lots of accommodations in Holbox have Starlink nowadays - so it's fixable. Other than that, we had an absolutely wonderful and relaxing time.
