The room was large and airy. The bed very comfortable. The room was extremely clean and maintained to a high standard. The refreshments were replenished daily, including the water and biscuits which is unusual in many hotels we have been in. The staff were extremely pleasant and we enjoyed having chats with them. They took an interest in us and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was very good. The location of the hotel was excellent, being in the centre of the town. We ate there most evenings and really enjoyed the food and ambience.

There could have been more drawer space in our room. A small chest of drawers would have made things a lot easier.

Excellent location for PreTT and PreTt presentation. Lovely clean room with comfortable bed and all of the facilities Excellent breakfast with the best choice served hot and freshly cooked to order, great coffee too. Takeaway breakfast for our leaving day, brilliant. Pity they wouldn't accommodate us for Sunday lunch of 19 covers, we ate here on the other evenings and the food here is great.

Mostly rude staff with the exception of maybe one lovely young lady. To be stood over and shouted at ( spit flying, yep) on four evenings that " we have to drink up quickly" due to there being residents upstairs ( we know, that's US ) !!! Is not pleasant, disgusting and completely unacceptable. We can hear when last orders are from the bell, the Garrison is over the road as I'm sure you are aware so we will be drinking up and going over there but to shout and spray spit is disgusting, absolutely disgusting. You probably know the individual I'm referring to.

Helpful friendly staff. Good tasty breakfast with plenty of options available. Large comfortable room. Bed very comfortable. Ample storage space. Plenty of hot water. We liked the fact that bottled water was renewed each day. Convenient location in the old centre of Castletown.

There was scaffolding covering the front of the building therefore obstructing our view of the town square from the bay window of our room.

staff couldn't do enough for you, they were so nice ,freindly and went out of their way to help or advise you. The room was spotless, all amenities provided, including fan, and iron & ironing board. Breakfast was lovely with great choices, again if something wasn't on menu they would go out of their way to accommodate. Main menu had fantastic choices and were reasonably priced. Will definatley stay here again.

Nothing to dislike.

Great location in centre of Castletown. Easy access to excellent bus links and walking distance to steam train station. Nice choice of breakfast and room facilities refreshed daily.

We ate in the hotel just once in the evening as we found it too noisy. Also, unfortunately, there was scaffolding up at the front of the hotel but for both these points, out of the hands of the owners.

Castletown isn't a big place but The George is very central. The staff couldn't do enough for you. I didn't eat at the hotel as I was visiting family nearby but judging by the number of people eating in the hotel I can only imagine the food was good. The hotel was refurbished a few years back and is in tip top condition.

As previously mentioned the hotel was refurbished a few years back and this is reflected in the price increases. £100 for a single room midweek might seem a little steep but the airport hotel was £67 for the Friday night (The George didn't have a room available) so perhaps £100 is reasonable (I guess I'm used to Thai Hotel prices?)

Really nice breakfast choices. Room was spotless. Bed very comfortable. Perfect place to base myself for the Southern100 racing.

Would be nice if check-in was possible a bit earlier. Arriving on ferry at 7am and not being able to check-in until after 3pm made a fairly long day even longer.

Wonderful room really comfortable and quiet. Great bar with a nice range of beers TV set up to watch the football

Due to a big motorbike event locally the food menu for evening meal was very limited and to be honest didn't appeal to us so we choose to eat elsewhere. I understand their decision but not their choices. Breakfast was okay.

Breakfast was good and the location was excellent overlooking the town square and the castle. We had a balcony and I enjoyed sitting in the window and looking at what was happening in the square. There was also a comfortable seating area and a coffee machine for good coffee in the room. Our friends were on the floor above although directly overhead they were not nearby. Food in the hotel was generally good and we enjoyed a couple of meals there. Staff were friendly and made us welcome, there was a good atmosphere in the pub and restaurant. One member of staff gave us useful tips on where to visit. There was plenty of parking when we were there. There were good walks around the town and some museums etc to visit along with some decent coffee houses. The castle was well worth visiting, very interesting.

Hotel stopped serving food after 6.00 on Sunday as did the other pubs. Those that served later were found to be fully booked or had no food left! We ended up with a takeaway in the room. We could have driven to Douglas but after a full day out just wanted to eat in the hotel or nearby. The hotel did warn us beforehand but it was still a nuisance. Some of cupboards and wardrobes in the hotel needed an internal dust. Probably not often used on weekend breaks.

staff were friendly and efficient, would recommend friends and family to stay at The George Hotel. Plenty of room in the restaurant area at the rear of the bar as family members joined for food.

no lift as brought my elderly mum with me, but room even had a balcony which was facing the castle.
