The room was very comfortable.

The housekeeping was erratic. They promised bathrobes but we had to ask 4 times. Unlimited water was the promise but when we asked for a bottle they attempted to put it on the bill, we declined to pay and they accepted. The hotel is on a plaza and for several nights there was very loud music well into the night. One night the music (furniture vibrating ) went until 6 AM.

Casa de la Luz is a charming and beautifully designed hotel that made our stay in Mexico City very enjoyable. The staff were incredibly suave and attentive, always making sure we felt welcome and taken care of. We had dinner at their rooftop restaurant on our last night. The food was absolutely amazing—every dish was perfectly prepared and bursting with flavor. To make the evening even better, there was a mariachi group performing, adding a lively and fun atmosphere.

The only downside was a strange smell that came in whenever we opened the window, which was a bit unpleasant. However, it didn’t take away too much from our overall experience.

Breakfast at Casa de la Luz is nothing less than exquisite. Not only is the Oaxacan-inspired menu vast and appealing, but the food is delicious. We enjoyed a complete breakfast -- all-inclusive and consisting of fantastic coffee, juice, bread, pastries, fruit, and entrèe -- every day during our stay. Tremendous fuel for busy days of sight-seeing!

This is so minor, but the weak flushing toilets situated throughout the hotel induced an unexpected level of irritation. Such an inconvenience is really not the hotel's fault, but more a reality of an ancient infrastructure that's endemic to Mexico City. Nevertheless, being able to "go" without worrying about whether the toilet is going to flush is something I didn't expect to have to think about.

Great location and close to the historic centre Beautiful building Excellent bfast and many option to chose from Very clean Lovely members of staff and very helpful Very comfortable bed and pillows Nice bar and restaurant

It can get noisy within the hotel as rooms are not properly insulated (you can hear people in other rooms, music, staff being noisy at early hours of the morning etc) so if you are a light sleeper this may be a problem Lastly, it is extremely expensive to book the airport transport with them so use uber if you can it will save you some money

Gorgeous building and they've done such a marvelous job renovating it. Love the detailing of the rooms, the brick work, the beamed ceilings, and the Smart TV with built-in apps. The concierge, Jesus, was made for his job. He clearly enjoys people and wants guests to have a wonderful experience. Location for visiting Zocalo is great (but also crowded and quite noisy)

It's too bad we can't charge our meals at the restaurant to our room. We had to pay each time with our card. Also, need fabric softener! Towels and robe (and there was only 1 robe provided) feel like sandpaper. Ditto for the toilet paper. Also, I'd appreciate a selection of pillow densities. If you're going to provide 4 pillows, make 2 of them softer / mushier and then 2 of them denser. Also, no room service. We ended up quite sick for 36 hours of our stay and felt rather helpless in our room, surviving on the mini fridge for hydration. Finally, realize that this is a VERY NOISY location. Next time, I'll likely stay in the Condesa, Polanco or Cayoacan area for more peace and quiet.

The room was beautiful and the staff was OK (especially in the restaurant). In general, we were satisfied!

We only informed during our visit from a local guy we got to know that the hotel is located in a quite dangerous neighborhood in Mexico City (even though it's close to the Zocalo) so the streets in the area are quite empty as of 20:00 and there are no restaurants or shops around accordingly, although it is not really the hotel's fault... They lock the door at around 23:00 and you're not allowed visitors and the water in the shower suddenly changed from cold to war and vice versa but it was not that serious (although I was supposed during the winter it may be). The breakfast only offers meals from a menu and there is no buffet but the food it goos

I was able to have an evening snack one day and dinner another. The food was exceptionally good. Order the salsa - they wheel in a cart and make it in front of you, using a mortar and pestle. So delicious. The room was very large with high, high ceilings. Excellent pillows.

I understand that people want to be with family and loved ones, but I could not get an evening meal either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. I was unable to eat breakfast as each of my day excursions started very early, long before breakfast was served. Otherwise, everything else was excellent.

The hotel is in a beautifully restored historic building, with friendly helpful staff. The hotel is located steps from the Zocalo and many museums in the historic center. The interiors include a first rate amenities, while the decor includes beautiful tile floors, stone walls, and palatial grand stair to descend every morning. Amazing dining and breakfast experiences: The breakfast, included in our rate, was gourmet, generous, and authentic Mexican (or American if you like). The rooftop terrace restaurant Tezontle was casually elegant, breezy and cool, with amazing cocktails (their Mojito Santo is an experience!), friendly wait staff, and delicious menu that made us want to come back again and again. We dined there for 4 of our 8 evenings in Mexico City, it was so delicious, and the menu so varied. Highly recommend!

Nothing to do with the Hotel itself, but the traffic in the city is so intense, it was sometimes a long wait to get an Uber to arrive. Always give yourself lots of spare time! Also, the City is so big that no matter where you stay, historic center included, you will find yourself taking some fairly long taxi rides to get to other neighborhoods. Again, this would be true no matter where in CDMX you stay!

We stayed in the Historic Center for one evening on Christmas night until we got a longer stay in a different part of town. It was incredible. Close to everything and very quiet at night. The staff was lovely. The accommodations were incredible. The breakfast was amazing! It was also a very historic hotel which made our first night in town so fun!

There only thing was that the key for the room was a little tricky. You had to lock both sides of the door because we didn't see a way to bolt/latch when you were in the room with the key. Very minor detail

This hotel is in the heart of Mexico City. It is in a busy district with a small park across the road and a church across the street. The hotel is beautiful and definitely not a cookie cutter American style chain hotel. The restaurant was great food excellent. Rooms are large and clean

There wasn't anything I didn't like, but if you are a picky traveller you need to consider this is in the city and there is some noise from time to time, but it is life noise. Bells ringing, people cars. The hotel is located in a corner of a square and is very lovely.
