We stayed three nights in January. The Peabody certainly lives up to its billing as ‘the Grand Hotel of the South’ with a luxurious lobby and regal hotel rooms. The service is extraordinary. Honestly, the staff are always smiling and can’t do enough. Each evening they actually knock at your door offering you chocolates, extra toiletries and extra bottled water (all with a duck motif, of course). The duck parade at 11am and 5pm is a must. Don’t wait until the last minute if you want a prime viewing spot though as it crowds up fast. Our room was spacious and the bed was VERY comfy. We especially appreciated the built-in individual reading lights. The hotel offers free coffee and tea downstairs each morning. The location is great, 2 blocks from Beale and across the street from the ballpark. I can’t imagine going to Memphis and staying anywhere else

There is no coffee maker or mini fridge in the room.

beautifully decorated hotel Not modern but pure class

There are no coffee making facilities in the room but you can go to the deli just off reception and grab a complimentary coffee/tea. However, this is only between 6am and 10am so if you want a hot drink at any other point in the day, you have to buy one. The only major issue we had was that housekeeping cleaned our room while we were down in the spa for 2-3 hours and left our door open!! Whilst nothing actually happened, anything could have! Someone could’ve taken the car key and stolen the car! Let’s face it, nobody actually puts EVERYTHING of value in the safe….wouldnt fit! I raised it with the manager and they were very apologetic and gave us an invite for a complimentary breakfast in the hotel restaurant the next morning

It is a grand old hotel. Rooms were spacious and a great lobby to sit and have a drink. And those wonderful ducks were simply great to say. The restaurant was great for breakfast, and all employees were extremely friendly.

There were signs on the exterior doors that informed customers of when the doors would be locked. Don’t pay any attention to those signs. The doors are always locked. One evening at about 8 PM I had to call security to come to the door on BB King street to let me in. The operator kept telling me to walk all the way around the hotel to come into the entrance that way. It was raining and the person with me had limited mobility. I had to insist that security come to the door to let us in. They did so but didn’t seem happy about going out of their way. Hotel needs to fix this.

Great hotel with awesome history in a brilliant location. Situated just a 5 minute walk from Beale St, this historic hotel is a great place to stay and we are so pleased we chose here. The duck parade and history lesson is a must see and do. The service is exceptional with very friendly staff that just want to assist.

The only down side to this hotel is the size of the bathroom. They are so small, they are bordering on almost unusable. I know there is pretty much nothing that can be done as it would require major renovations to change this.

Magnificent lobby and bar area (where the duck fountain is) with very helpful staff. Location ideal for the central Memphis sights, including the museums and ball park (the main art gallery is not in the downtown yet but moving next year) and amazing Mississippi. Large car park for self-parking so no need to pay extra for valet, though it is a walk to the hotel from the car park. Nice (if too small) restaurant for breakfast with some truly dedicated serving staff. Swimming pool pleasant enough if small.

Nothing major, but the room, although comfortable and quiet, was quite small and lacked amenities such as a fridge. The elevators can be slow as they are not too many and are sometimes busy with folks going to the top floor terrace and bar (or duck house in the case of the ducks!) The area around the hotel is not great, unfortunately. Unlike Nashville, Memphis has yet to revitalise its downtown and it seemed like half the buildings were empty. But there are nice restaurants etc., we never felt unsafe and it was an incentive to get to the restaurants in Overton Park, a 5 minutes drive away.

Entering this hotel takes you into another world. You are treated with such care, kindness and consideration by every member of their staff. Everyone in the hotel, whether employee or guest, seemed genuinely happy to be there. The building itself is absolutely beautiful. The ducks were quite a treat to watch. The room, restaurants, lobby, and rooftop were all perfect. While it may seem you are paying a little more than other are hotels, this experience is definitely worth more than you can possibly imagine. I look forward to returning when I am back in Memphis.

Make sure you read where to find the entrance to the parking area. It took me a couple of laps around the block to figure it out. It was all detailed in the email sent to me prior to my arrival. My fault. Our windows were frosted, so we had no view. My 83-year-old mom would have loved to have had something to look at from our 11th story room. There was some outside noise, but the hotel is in the heart of downtown Memphis. That is to be expected.

Our stay at The Peabody was worth every penny. The history and ambience of the main lobby / bar area really added something special to our trip. Loved the piano player, Elvis tracks and so pleased to see the Lanksy Bros still have a home in Memphis. The location is perfect, a very short stroll to Beale Street. Overall, an old school gem.

The bathroom is very small and could do with a spruce up - but this did not detract from our stay. Our rate included hot drinks in the morning, but I don't think this was communicated clearly, so we didn't realise until our last morning. The offering in the deli is also a little lackluster, but does provide a space for a hot drink and bagel in the morning.

This hotel is a historical building with light unique experiences. If you check in with a pet, they'll provide them with a leash, mat, and bowls for water and food. Every day there's a ceremony for the hotel ducks to welcome them to the fountain in the lobby and send them back up to their "palace" on the hotel rooftop in the evening. A nice event worth watching if you have kids. It's a beautiful hotel with a lot of restaurants to meet your dietary interests and has a laid back vibe while also being situated right in the heart of downtown and thus close to the sports grounds and Beale St for the night life. We'll be returning for sure!

The history of the property was amazing. The duck parade was cute but the reception area gets extremely busy. Also on our first night, there was a rooftop party was was fun too!

We got back to the room after the party and a late dinner, got ready for bed then found our sheets were dirty. There was makeup all over the pillowcases and fitted sheet. After calling reception, they moved our room which meant packing everything up and moving 6 floors at 11.30pm. Not ideal when you just want to go to bed! Also, the cute little duck soap, it doesn’t need to be changed to a fresh one every day! We thought this was a real waste.

Our room was quiet and comfortable. The location is great for exploring the downtown area as well as easy to access other areas of Memphis by car. The staff was always so nice and professional. We ate breakfast at Capriccio twice and ordered room service a couple of other times- food was always delicious.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Peabody. I did ask for a nearby dining recommendation at the Concierge and did not find their one choice interesting or helpful. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay very much.
