Our stay at the Caves Motor Inn was really comfortable and our room was spotlessly clean. We had everything we needed to be able to cook for ourselves, which is what we needed. It was well located for getting to the Waitimo Caves. Yes, the motor inn is a little dated but we knew that when we booked and I think it was real value for money considering it was peak season. A nice little touch were the ear plugs in the room as the motel is next to the highway but we didn’t find the noise a problem at all as the highway isn’t very busy and the windows were triple glazed which I’m sure must have blocked out a decent bit of the noise. So I certainly wouldn’t add a negative comment about the noise and I feel it’s a bit unfair for others to do so when they know what they are getting when they book. Overall, a great stay and thanks to Ivan and the rest of the staff.

Friendliness of the staff on arrival. The room was spacious, well-appointed, and very clean! We were provided earplugs in the room, but it was very quiet, and we did not need them. The room also had a nice balcony with several chairs and a table. The outlook was nice. We dined at the restaurant, and the food was reasonably priced and of good quality - everyone enjoyed their meals.

Air conditioning would be a suggested improvement, but in saying that, the fan that was provided in the room was sufficient.

We got in very late and Annie had made contact with us at 8pm to advise us how to access the room when we got there. So appreciated that as it took the pressure off us to rush (speed) to get there by a certain time. And we got there the light was on and the room was lovely and warm from the heater being on low as well as our electric blanket. Just so considerate. Thank you. Loved the littke kitchenette area that had a microwave.. Kettle.. Toaster and fridge.

I wanted to do our breakfast dishes but there was no kitchen sink or even a basin to fill water so we cud do this even though a dish cloth and dishwaahing detergent were provided. Loved how ear plugs are provided on the bedside table and soon realised it is due to the train line and main highway we are next to. I thought it was to block out my husbands snoring and thought how very thoughtful that was. Still a nuce touch.

The room was big, very spacious and comfortable for three people - had shampoo and body wash. There were a few spiders but the room itself very clean. Lots of parking space, but you do need a car to get there. Restaurant is closed on weekends. Also enough chairs for everyone and a well equipped small kitchen. It's next to the main road but it's still quiet.

Check out is at 10 which is usually a bit early.

The staff were amazing, especially Destiny. she went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay! the food at the restaurant was amazing, the lamb shanks, delicious! the room was exceptionally clean, more than some high end hotels we've stayed at. we had a fantastic stay, thanks!

Convenient location on the main highway. Looks recently renovated, clean and tidy. Kind and helpful staff. Separate toilet and shower meant less time waiting in the morning.

Bathroom door did not have a way to lock it - wasn't a problem for us, but if the kid was present, then that would be an issue. There's some noise from the highway as well, but with complimentary ear plugs, it wasn't an issue for us.

Unit Two had just been renovated recently what a great job was carried out just one of the best motel rooms I have stayed in. Money for value it left many in the dust

This is only a petty spoilt complaint when i jumped out of bed in the morning cold feet no carpet just beautiful, laminated flooring what did I expect mid winter?

Really spacious 3 bedroom apartment for 3 adults, very clean. Restaurant on site was handy as you are a little way from anything else. We had a small maintenance issue that was attended to straight away. Despite being close to the highway it was very quiet.

Love staying here as they really look after there guests. We arrived after 5pm & they had already put the electric blankets & heaters on in our room. We booked the Twin & king sized room units & was amazed that each had a fridge, microwave, jug , toaster plus cups, glasses, bread plates & cutlery, We even got a tea towel , dish cloth & 2 sachets of dishwashing liquid. We were even supplied with earplugs because its near the main road but we didnt hear a thing. An extra bonus is the bar & restaurant which has lovely home cooked meals which are very affordable.

Maybe provide a large plastic bowl to wash the dishes in.

Rooms were clean and well heated and comfortable. Owners/staff were kind and accommodating. It was the perfect place to stop over in an overnighter from a meeting in Whangarei where we needed to be back in Wellington the next evening.

There were some issues with some of the secondary lighting not working; but I think they just occurred as they arrived; a couple of lights were out already and another failed on us during our short stay; just bad luck for all. Not a big issue. Maybe just a matter of checking the fuses. Trucks are staying overnight and trucks are passing on the road below in evening and morning but the noise isn't anything like as bad as you can get in urban environments, and the motel provides good earplugs- we slept fine..
