Enjoyed staying here, very close to the Waitomo Glowworm Caves. Place provided a very nice continental breakfast (included in price) which could be enjoyed in a comfortable dining area. In addition to the glowworm cave attractions, we did some additional exploring as suggested by the lodge owner (waterfall, natural bridge etc), which were very scenic but involved driving on some narrow, winding roads. There are a couple places to eat within walking distance. Place is also within walking distance of the Waitomo Glowworm Center, but we chose to drive due to the busy road/many cars - plus, we did two of the cave tours. Liked staying in this smaller town to experience another side of New Zealand!

The only downside was that the room was a bit tight for 4 adults (parents, 2 daughters) by the time all the luggage was open on the floor. Room had queen, twin and pullout bed. Good bonding time!

Really appreciated the warm and informative welcome - felt right at home. Lovely comfortable spacious room, details thought about (eg extra pillows, insect mesh, plenty of tea in the room). We were very lucky to get the room at the top of the stairs, with gorgeous views. Enjoyed breakfast in the really homely breakfast room. Could use the washer and dryer as well for only $5 total! I absolutely would stay here again.

Very minor, nothing off-putting, just some feedback. The laundry area could be tidied up / improved a bit. We indicated we wanted to use the laundry but towels were left in the dryer, so just being a bit more on top of that would be great. And also I went to hang some clothes over the garden chairs but discovered they were quite cobwebby.

We had a nice stay. We were in the room that is connected to the main building with the reception and breakfast. It has its own separate entrance from the outside. There are other rooms in separate buildings. The room was a good size. The bathroom had a bathtub and shower. There is a washer and I think dryer for guest use (we didn't need to use them but it is nice for people who have been traveling for awhile). Breakfast was continental style with toast, cereals, yogurt, and fruit. There were extra towels available for us to take when we went on our floor with cave rafting trip, which was really nice. The hosts Lynn and Richard are friendly. It's hard to believe the run the whole place themselves. Richard showed us the town from the balcony of the breakfast area, letting us know about the village. Lynn told me about a bushwalk where we could go see the glow worms outside at night and gave a map and specific directions of where to park and where to look for the glow worms.

No compliants here!

Lynn was such a wonderful host! The location of the lodge is fantastic; perfect for all of the activities in Waitomo. Lynn is very knowledgeable about the area, activities, and food in the area. The breakfast provided was perfect fuel for an active day with a variety of cereals, toppings for yogurt, croissants, toast, plenty of jams and jellies, and great beverage options. Lynn was very accommodating for any requests we had, and there was ample parking in a parking lot right next to the driveway for the property. We had a great room with two beds and a private bathroom to ourselves. Everything was very clean and comfortable.

Just be aware that there are a lot of stairs depending on which room you are in, which can be difficult with large or heavy suitcases. The rooms inside the house are lovely, but the walls are somewhat thin. It was very quiet and peaceful once everyone had gone to bed, which was not very late at all!

Really incredible and welcoming place to stay! The hosts are so friendly and informative. Lynette had great suggestions for restaurants and Richard gave us a guide to a nearby night hike that ended up being one of our favorite things we did while in New Zealand. The rooms are spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The breakfast is delicious and so cozy! It felt like being at a bed and breakfast. Overall, very strongly recommend!

The laundry facilities are difficult to use. There was a line of people in front of us and the cutoff time for laundry meant that we weren't able to do our laundry here as planned. Ended up going to a local laundromat.

Great breakfast. Lyn gave us a friendly welcome and explained things to do in the area. Good information package in the room also provided information on local walks, restaurants, etc. Lovely trees and flowers that we enjoyed from our private sitting area outside and from the main area where we ate our breakfast.

Drove past the property a few times but that was because our device showed it on the other side of the road. We were fine with moving our luggage from where we parked our car to our room but there are a few steps that some people might have issues with.

Lovely owners who were very informative about the area. Check in was easy and it was a lovely room, and while quite small was very clean and well appointed. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The dining room for breakfast was beautifully set with a good selection of cereals and spreads for toast, etc. A lovely deck area off the dining room which would be great in summer for sitting on to have breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.

It is little bit of a hike to get your bags up to your room from the carpark (reasonably steep) so could be an issue for some but hospitality and room made up for this.

Great location with a fabulous restaurant across the road (Huhu cafe - make sure you book), convenience store/cafe next store. 5 minute drive to Waitomo Caves. Half hour drive to a lovely gorge and a little further on for a magnificent waterfall! Room has the basics you need and provides a continental breakfast. Richard and Lyn have lots of good information to help you plan your time.

The rooms were a little musty and could do with some updating (carpets and bed linens). Bed was comfy.

Location met the requirements of our trip. Room was comfortable and had its own ensuite which was great. Clean and contained all items required for our stay. Continental breakfasts were provided and there was always a good selection of cereals, fruits and preservatives. Hosts were welcoming, approachable and very helpful.

Maybe a pillow review as some were very soft and flat, otherwise it has been modernised and meets all other requirements. The steps to the rooms are narrow and slightly steep, as is the driveway, so reasonable mobility is required. I have stayed there previously, so was aware of these issues.

Owner gave lots of info about the area. Rooms were big enough. Breakfast was cereal/nuts/yogurt/toast/croissants, fruit, coffee/tea/juice. Location good, the restaurant across the street (Huhu) was absolutely delicious (we ate there twice). They have their own parking area.

Because we had lots of luggage, the stairs were a small inconvenience. But to be fair there are probably less than 15 steps and we managed to take everything in one trip.
