The location The staff Very big spacious room The ‘NOLA-style’ of the hotel The laidback style of the staff The art hanging on the walls
Refrigerator could only freeze The temperature in the room and corridor was way too cold and non-adjustable. Great bed, but a bit too soft and you rolled to the middle… Valetparking is expensive, but 24 hours available. Breakfast is too simple if you’re staying longer than 2 nights The ‘view’ was a brick wall from the building next door… The ‘private entrance’ doesn’t exist!

Walking into the hotel, I was impressed by the quality of the decor (including nods to New Orleans) and cleanliness of the lobby. Our room was on the corner on the top floor, leading to stunning views in two directions that was wonderful to wake up to. The bathroom was large and the shower had good water pressure and heat. The complimentary breakfast had hot food and cold food options, along with three coffee options (medium, medium decaf, and chicory coffee) and juice and tea. The common space downstairs had nice furniture and good Wifi too.
The couch in the living room area was noticeably dirty, with its whitish fabric covered in stains. The appliances in the room (microwave, mini fridge, and tvs) were on the older side - still functional but could be updated. The fridge did not get that cold. The lobby bar was closed for all of our stay and we don't know why - but there is supposed to be happy hour there.

We booked The Mercantile Hotel after the hotel we originally booked for my 40th birthday cancelled without notifying us. We got there to check-in and they had cancelled on us. There were 10 of us the first night and one person joined later. We all had an amazing time. The service was excellent, the entire staff was helpful and polite. When there was a problem with one of our rooms, they immediately changed our room without any fuss. They also gave me a bottle of wine for my birthday which was so thought of them. When the last member of our party couldn't make it because of severe weather conditions, they cancelled the booking last minute without a charge. The rooms are spacious, all suites of different sizes and the hotel has a lot of character as it used to be a sugar factory. The location is also excellent, it's in the CBD far enough from the noise of French Quarters but close enough to explore the Quarters. I highly recommend and would definitely stay there again
I loved everything about it. The breakfast could be better but it's New Orleans and there are several places to get a good breakfast. Oh, ans yes. Daily housekeeping would be a nice touch to get them to perfect!

Thank you for an incredible stay! We dealt with some non-hotel related issues, including a rental car mishap and a member of our party having to leave early. The hotel was incredibly accommodating. Start to finish. The staff was super friendly. The room was updated and clean and super comfortable for our party of six. We’ve stayed here before and we will definitely be back! Thank you guys so much for everything
The only issue we had was with the shower on the 10th floor, which is the top floor. Sometimes the water pressure would essentially stop for a minute or so, during what felt like busy times of the day. We laughed about it. But even with that, I still give the hotel a 10 out of 10 because the staff was so incredible, and we loved our room.

We had a good view of the bridge and river to the left and city to the right. We have 2 boys 16 and 19 and we were all comfortable. Everything was good. The electric outlets in the bedroom did not work and someone came up within 10 minutes to fix it all. He even made sure the lights worked and found that the lamp did not. He got us a new one and even brought extra bedding for the boys who were sleeping on the pull out sofa.
The electric outlets in the bedroom did not work and someone came up within 10 minutes to fix it all. Other than being a slight inconvenience it was fine and fixed in a timely manner.

Room was very spacious and had everything I needed. Bed was very comfortable. Loved the suite style of the room, and also loved the eco friendly bath gels (there were dispensers in the shower instead of the mini single use bottles). Staff were super friendly, and the free breakfast offered was good and with plenty of options. Location was great and very walkable. Would stay again if I could get a room with no neighbors next door :)
I thought my room was actually soundproof as advertised, but turns out I just had no neighbors for the first few nights of my stay (and it was blessedly quiet!)... the last night, however, guests checked into the room next to me and I could hear EVERYTHING happening over there, down to their entire conversation. Was really hoping these rooms with the very sturdy brick walls would actually be soundproof, but alas. Had a lovely first few nights of my stay at least.

Lovely hotel, nice area, close enough to everything but far enough that you don't get all the noise. Comfortable beds, room was lovely. The breakfast was good, and the bar excellent, needs to be open longer hours! Every staff member went out of his/her way to be helpful, all friendly and respectful. The manager should be proud of the people she employs!
The sofa had set in stains, looks like steam clean could not get out. The toilet needed a flush valve replacement, we could not figure out the "alexa" type device, shower curtain torn, tub drained slowly. That being said, nothing we couldn't live with, we told desk and offered to fix, but we said it could wait. Met manager, apparently she is about to do a major renovation. Bottom line is..would MOST DEFINATELY stay there again, absolutely. I look forward to our next visit yo NOLA, and the Mercantile Hotel.

Super nice, cozy hotel. Wonderful staff - especially Barry who was so lovely and welcoming! Love the layout of the rooms with a living area and a bedroom. Excellent location for the convention centre! Nice and quiet rooms too.
The only downside was that the living area is quite dark, with only 2 standing lamps with energy-conservation bulbs. And a little expensive considering the comparative cost of hotels around and the breakfast which was underwhelming (no fresh fruit or vegetables).

The staff at the front desk were very friendly and approachable. We loved the character of the hotel, very welcoming and 'old' looking. The room was very spacious. We enjoyed the record player in the room. It was a nice touch. The decor and the architecture were fantastic.
That we only ended up staying there 1 night instead of 3 due to the global tech outage. When we had breakfast, we thought eating off paper plates and using plastic cutlery was tacky, and it didn't suit the aesthetics of the hotel. Maybe this could be looked into, and it may help the environment to use less plastic!

Great and responsive staff. Very good breakfast. Close to Convention Center and attractions. Lots of architectural character.
Need more support staff. Had to request clean towels and no daily room cleanup. Not really an inconvenience.
