The location is excellent. You can walk almost everywhere in town. More than enough heaters in the room and electric blankets - both essential in Clarens. Good water pressure in the bathrooms. Lovely staff at their restaurant and the Scotch Whiskey Lounge. Good selection of food and alcohol and tasty food. When we checked in at 5:30pm, the closest parking bays were all full, but once we were done with dinner, there were enough parking spots to be able to park closer to the location. Parking was in the open, but they had a security person on duty.
Some of the bed linen was torn and frayed, which was very surprising considering how neat and clean the rest of the set up and bathroom linens were. There were a few other guests staying, who used the area just outside the bedroom windows to smoke and talk loudly, well past midnight.

Our stay was fantastic. The location is perfect because it is on the main square of Clarens but off to the corner, so you are slightly away from the main action. The restaurant here is amazing. Go for the Sprinbok carpaccio; the best I've ever had!
The parking around the back is not ideal, but totally not needed since the street is safe. However, I had a lot in my vehicle so I wanted to be behind a fence and you need to get someone to open for you each time.

The food was fresh, warm, on time and tasty. The watron was helpful and friendly
The windows in the bedroom faced onto a carpark and a through road to other properties. For privacy or get dressed we had to shut the dark velvet curtains ( gorgeous) and or the wooden window shutters which made the room dark. The actual lighting in the room was a bit too dim. Otherwise, everything else was comfortable and clean and we were very comfortable. loved the wall heaters and the electric blanket. Really struggled with the TV, gave up and listened to music. It would be helpful if they had a laminated sheet with better instructions.

I travelled to Clarens on my way to the Rugby in Johannesburg , but never made it to the rugby because all the roads where closed due to snow. Some people had to stay overnight stuck in their cars. Due to these road closures all accomodation in Clarens was full. for the Saturday night. The staff at Highland quarters assisted me to find alternative accomodation in a nearby town and made sure I was safe. I just like to thank the staff there for going beyond what was required of them.

The location is fabulous. Right in the centre of Clarens not far to walk anywhere. The room was comfortable. The bed was super comfortable. I felt quite safe there and my car was looked after while I slept. The restaurant was great.
I thought there should be somewhere to put my suitcase. Also I prefer bath sheets to the small bath towel provided. I thought the breakfast menu wasn't really brilliant. And just as an aside, when I booked I selected a room with a queen bed and a couch. I got a room with a double bed and no couch.

Breakfast was great, but I would have preferred to pay that separately as neither my friend nor I like to eat too much in the morning, so paying the 135 upfront each was a waste of money. Location was excellent.
There was no hot water in the room I stayed in and no hot water in the room my friend stayed in (8 and 9). My friend said her neighbors were very noisy.

The Highland Quarters is pretty standard but it’s located in the city which means it attracts a bit of noise if you are in room 1 during the day. This is not a bad thing for someone on holiday. The vibe suits the kind of establishment it is. Loved their place nonetheless.
The cap on breakfast options and limited options for vegetarians could improve.

It's the second year we stayed at Highland Quarters for our Monther and Daughter weekend and will definitely stay there again. Conveniently located, excellent service, beautiful rooms, and the friendliest staff, there breakfast is to die for and the restaurant food is excellent as well as very well priced. The bed was so comfy I wanted to take it home with me 😄 Thank you we thoroughly enjoyed our 4 day stay and will see you again.

The staff where very friendly and always quick to help. Breakfast was really good and the voucher value was perfect . The food from their restaurant was excellent. And if for no other reason this would be a huge reason to recommend others to visit Highland Quarters.
A bar fridge in the room would have been nice but not having one did not take away from the stay. Wi-Fi range could be improved as it did not reach to room. Although I know that space is tight I felt that a small lounge area would have been great especially if you just wanted to sit around and relax for a few hours. The outside veranda was great for this but the experience could have been made even better with a lounge area to sit and read a book etc.

We loved that it was so close to the square and we could walk everywhere we wanted to go. The breakfast was delicious and enjoyed spending time relaxing in our room in the afternoon.
The check in process was a bit confusing - perhaps having a reception area (even if it is in the whisky bar) to check in would be good. We looked a bit lost wondering around the restaurant trying to check in. Allocate parking for hotel guests only. I understand that we travelled on a really busy weekend, but having designated parking for your guests would be great.
