This hotel was in the best location, right next to the Golden Gate Park but also close enough to Haight St and the surrounding neighbourhood which also had cool bars and restaurants. Our room was super clean and the bed was extremely comfortable, nicely renovated bathroom also given the hotels age. Furniture was antique but all in working order so the place had a lot of charm, loved the wallpaper and the fact there were lots of mirrors and a decent wardrobe area. Breakfast was good also, nice bagels, yoghurt and cereal, complimentary wine hour was much appreciated too. Loved the 1920s music in the morning, and historic pictures of San Francisco and the hippie era throughout the hotel, the place seemed very well maintained! Being close to the park was a definite highlight as well, we spent time there each day wandering around exploring, only went downtown on our last day and were so glad we didn't stay there and chose this area instead.

There was lots of single use paper plates and plastic cutlery in the breakfast room, which leads to a lot of waste. Nothing else to comment on though, we had a great time here.

Excellent location. Walking distance to the great museums and gardens in Golden Gate Park. Situated in a real neighborhood that is wonderful for walking. Lots of great restaurants, coffee shops, etc. around. Very warm and welcoming staff and we got great assistance from a friendly gentleman (I’m sorry I didn’t get his name, but we loved his energy) at the front desk for a dinner dining suggestion as well as where to take a neighborhood walk. Husband and I are in our 60’s and enjoyed the hotel and it’s large framed photos of old time San Francisco as well as the small nice lobby and breakfast/wine reception room. We opted for the “with breakfast” option and found it very nice. We enjoyed listening to the European languages of other guests over breakfast. This is a smaller, nicely maintained, cozy old hotel with lovely attendant quirkiness and character. More of a bed and breakfast vibe (in the best way) than an upscale luxury hotel. Perfect to feel absorbed into a real San Francisco experience.

Very nicely located hotel, with a friendly staff and a nice cozy room, and bathroom. The neighborhood is really nice and I was within walking distance of the office, for work, and right by Amoeba Music, for record shopping.

Definitely the breakfast. I would have preferred to pay for breakfast and get some decent food and coffee, than have it be free, and... well... packaged croissants, some basic bread and watery coffee, I'm afraid.

Breakfast was continental but simple and had healthy selections Loved the complimentary wine hour ( which was usually extended if the guests were gathering for awhile) Family member of guests were welcome to join in Loved the old victorian ambiance but it was not overdone or fussy Location was great - right across from the entrance to Golden Gate Park. We walked to the Botanical Gardens, Japanese Tea Gardens and the De Young museum. Also walking distance to Haight Street as well as Cole Valley which has its own shops and restaurants.

Some of the front desk staff were inexperienced but it was over the July 4th holiday so the regulars were off.

Well maintained historic hotel with a lot of lovely photographs documenting the history of San Francisco. Very helpful and friendly staff. Coffee for breakfast was decent - good selection of hot and cold foods for breakfast. Amazing location, allowing the exploration of Golden Gate Park on foot.

Breakfast far from sustainable. Cakes, Croissants and Bagels all individually wrapped. All plates/cups/cutlery single use. No air condition in the room (it was hot in San Francisco) - but a fan was provided when it was requested. Puzzling operation of the shower.

Right next to the Golden Gate Park. We got a suite, which is great value for a family visit. Whole Foods is just one block away if you want to cook your own food. Decent beds, good shower.

Breakfast was kind of prefab. It nominally had everything, but nothing fresh, all of it from packages, e.g. dry croissants. I would have liked some more options for on my bread other than Philadelphia and jam, e.g. sliced cheese or ham. Right now (July 2023) there's construction on the lot across the street. They started heavy drilling at 7am on weekdays which would be enough to wake you up. We were fine with that (we were out all day anyway) but you might not like it if you want to sleep in.

Comfortable, spacious room. A bit above average breakfast included- good coffee! Wine in the lobby 5-6 pm. Wonderful location right across from the park. Great neighborhood with a nearby Whole Foods and plenty of restaurant options.

It was chilly and rainy, and the tiny electric heater didn't help much. Front desk staff on Sunday arrival was friendly and helpful. The next two days the people were indifferent at best, even when I greeted them. Overall I liked staying there and would recommend it.

The property was clean, the room was spacious enough. The hotel is close to the famous Haight/Ashbury area with lots of hip vintage shops and restaurants. Overall, I'd say it's a good value for money.

Temperature regulation in the room was bit finicky, it was either too hot or too cold at times. The breakfast area is small for the amount of people staying at the hotel, but it was still manageable.

The Stanyon Park Hotel is a medium sized boutique hotel located at the edge of Golden Gate Park in the Haight district. This is a wonderful location from which to explore both the Park and the fascinating Haight district. The hotel has a retro old San Francisco feel with many cupolas and large bay windows.The rooms are spotlessly clean with modern comfortable bedding. The bathrooms were somewhat dated but clean and functional.The front desk staff were extremely helpful, providing all sorts of useful suggestions. The hotel provided a continental breakfast as well as an afternoon wine reception. If you prefer large marble foyers and glistening chandeliers, this is not your hotel to visit. On the other hand, if you prefer small boutique hotels that exude charm in a world class location, this is your place to stay in San Francisco.

The room was clean and didn't smell like detergents like some hotels do. I was extremely happy with the level of cleanliness since this is an older building. The room has carpet but you wouldn't know since there was no smell. Chocolates on the pillow were a nice touch.
