The smell in my bathroom through the drains The reception was quite slow and I was made to queue twice in a long queue wen getting my bag from storage check in. Then had to queue again once I had it rather then see me. Was kind of annoying as was ages overall. The breakfast was rammed 5 mins from opening. Needs more seating in there or allow to get breakfast n go elsewhere with it which I wasn't given as an option.

I will start by saying that this hotel exceeded my expectations! After reading reviews , I was expecting it to be really old, unfriendly staff with at least clean rooms. It was a family holiday of 10 of us so I have prewarned everyone not to expect much as it's 3 start hotel. From the moment we have stepped in the reception I was like wow, it doesn't look old at all. Receptionist was really friendly and happy to help ( it was midnight when we checked in ). Rooms are decent size and very clean and yet again it didn't feel old nor there was a smell. Beds are comfortable and clean. Room was all set up for toddler and crib already provided ( we once had to wait in the 5* hotel for the crib to be brought in our room even thought they knew we are with the baby) so well impressed. We ate breakfast few times during our stay and it was good! It was everything you would want for breakfast: fresh bread, juice, coffee, all types of freshly made eggs, pastries, cheese, had, veggies and fruits! Perfect way to start the day! Hotel has entertainment every evening and the folklore on Wednesday was great! The best of all I have to admit! Swimming pools are good and are cleaned everyday, there is sauna that we have used one morning as it was raining outside. Location is perfect, one bus to get to city centre and it's only like 5 stops away, we have even walked few times. The hotel is up the hill and you have to walk to the hill or there is steps which we didn't mind and I would stay it's quite unique as you get beautiful views from the roof terrace. Overall we had a great stay and I would come back to this hotel.

I think the only thing that we didn't like is that the roof terrace is only open till 11pm. It's really lovely there to just sit and enjoy the view and few drinks but we have been asked to leave as it's closes. One evening it was something past 10pm and they came and said that they are closing roof top. But it was only our group on the terrace so perhaps it's easier to close it then wait for us to leave. It might be different story of there were more people on the terrace.

The pool and the the terrace bar were lovely and it was well located to access Funchal! Reception were super lovely and help suggesting tours for visiting more of the island.

The property is in a set of three - this wasn't particularly clear on arrival and we didn't realise it was up quite a steep hill! (Nothing can be changed about that though)

We stayed at Dorisol Mimosa hotel for a week and we really enjoyed everything about our stay. Our room was cleaned thoroughly everyday. Breakfast had plenty of options. We had an amazing view overlooking the ocean and the city of Funchal, which was the star of our stay. The studio was fully equipped and made our stay cosy - had a lot of useful kitchen tools, microwave, kettle, electric hobs, etc.

We liked everything. I saw people complaining about the hotel being up on the hill. It can get a little tiring having to walk up and down on it. However this is in no way the hotel's issue. Funchal is full of hills so be prepared for it as it's going to exhaust you eventually.

Loved the views from the room, the pool area and general facilities ( tennis court, pool table and lounge areas). The reception staff were exceptional and probably rank as the most welcoming, helpful and professional staff I have ever met. They were devoted to offering a great service and you got the impression that nothing would be too much trouble. Nice size room, good storage space and a great little kitchen area tucked away. Fantastic roof terrace!

Unfortunately, the position of the beds was different to the photographic information on the hotel: the headboard was on the exterior wall which meant i) you could not see the view, ii) one ( twin) bed was pushed alongside the balcony window and got extremely warm when the sun was on the balcony (!), iii) same bed's view of the TV was also obstructed by the corner window arrangement. I imagine that somehow the electrics dictated where the beds had to go, but it was a real shame as the views ( and not overheating in bed!) are such an important part of a holiday. One other thing worth noting for anyone with restricted mobility: the Dorisol is up a steep incline. Great if you're trying to work off a big dinner, but a killer if fragile or elderly.

Three pools ( one with a bar, one indoor and one not so busy where one could relax with a book), small fitness room, many lounges where one could relax, many TV channels also from other countries (for example we could watch sportschau from Germany), nice small balcony with a table and two chairs, the bathroom was modern and comfortable, buffet for breakfast and dinner were really good especially for the price, breakfast was always more or less the same but still with enough choice, dinner was.more.versatile and most of the things we ate where pretty tasty, definitely good for the price). There was always a little show at the evening. The internet wa good. We could use a.possibity to enter the cantine before official breakfast times when we had to leave early and have some cereals and coffee.

The safe was.not included in the price,.we had to pay extra (1,8€ /day), You could see pretty big cockroaches once for a.while but I can imagine it's hard to avoid them there also plenty of ants bit it was ad not bad that we would fell unco.fortable to eat there. Kitchen was not good equipmed, I suppose they don't control it regularly and the Items just disappear... We didn't need it as we had a half board which Wal more than enough food for the day but if you want to cook it might be problematic

Very good hotel for a reasonable price! There are 2 swim pool's, a gym (basic free weights which is a big +, as seen on the photos attached by the hotel). Continental breakfast with plenty of options (coffee not so good), big room, with a small kitchenette (fridge +). Bathroom could use some renovation, so as the hotel in general. Very good price, very clean, and top notch personel! Location not so bad, given the fact that this is Funchal (and coming from the seaview side there is around 200steps up), but there is a bus stop just a few meters from the back entrance. Good WiFi service. (based on 6th floor)

Plenty of additional costs! 7euros for a parking spot - this is just taking advantage in my opinion. but Funchal is tricky with parking zones - so up to you. 25euros deposit per pool towel - and the towel was mediocre at best. I would imagine 5-10euros per towel, or maybe per room should be sufficient. 1euro per pool towel exchange - this is a joke. and same as above taking advantage. inconvenient location of some of the facilities - for example the indoor pool is actually outside (you need to get out from 1 of the hotels outside to go to the indoor pool), gym - which is located in another hotel (there are 3 dorisol hotels semi-connected),

Bartender at the pool was little grumpy and the check-in could be quicker. Bathroom smell when there is low air pressure.

Our 6-day stay at Dorisol Mimosa Studio Hotel was absolutely fantastic! From the moment we walked in until our reluctant goodbye, every part of our experience was simply outstanding. Hotel have nice location and pool area, rooms are small but cozy. You can walk to the beach area (rocks) within 10 min and to the city center 30 min

Hotel is old and need refreshment, to get the pool towels you need to ask reception but there were no more towels when we arrived :( Hotel is full of old people but they are not prepared for that very well, they are located on very steep hill so walking to the main building was a killer for me as a young person. Breakfast: OMG terrible! It's Madeira where they have millions kind of fruits and vegetables, and for breakfast you could get watermelon or pineapple if you lucky, no vegetables, no fresh juice, everything was very greasy and tasteless. It's good hotel for the price but when you don't spend to much time there.
