The sea view from the room was amazing. One of the best views of the ocean directly from the room ever. Very spacious room and location of the hotel was excellent. Very close to the supermarkets, restaurants, car rentals etc.. Direct access to the sea, beautiful snorkling opportunities directly at the hotel, nice pool, amazing breakfast.

The staff was in general super nice and super helpful. Unfortunate thing was that on one day the room was not cleaned by the staff... I would also appreciate better introduction of the hotel and their services during check in. For instance, we were not informed about gym during check in. Nevertheless, I would love to come back in light of all positives (see above)

The location is stunning, one of the best in Funchal-Lido area. All rooms have panoramic view to the ocean, with direct acces to the water. We've stayed in the lower floors on the western side of the hotel with direct view to the rock. It was like staying above the ocean. Cheap parking places across the street (4 euro per day). The old Lido Villa is very nice, well maintained, very good cocktail.

Good breakfast with multiple choices but no variation during the week. Average quality of food at breakfast. No smileing personnel, except the guys from reception. The Spa was not functionning so no much to do in the cloudy days (the island is amazing, a lot of spectacular landscapes).

Everything! The sea view, had rm 607 and felt like we were on a cruise. The entire staff, esp. Lisbeth who always knew what we needed before we did. The birthday cake we found in our room after an evening out was a wonderful surprise and much appreciated. The entire staff, from office to pool bar and dining room was very kind and helpful. There Wes one guy,whose name we don’t recall, but every time we needed something he was there. He helped with our suitcases, worked in food service and greeting new gusts. He always had a warm smile, cute chuckle, and soft voice. I hope you know of whom we speak because he really deserves recognition.

Breakfast buffet was underwhelming and close to same every day. Also, the dinner buffet used cut up breakfast leftovers in the salads and for appetizers. The special dinner, where we paid 35 euro, was good and very accommodating to food preferences.

The staff are genuinely friendly and helping. They were so nice to even bringing a birthday cake to my room. The outward architecture of the building from the rocks makes you feel closer to the ocean which I enjoyed much. I would love to revisit. I hope they open the entrance to the ocean for swimming, this would make the hotel the best one in the island for sure.

There was a sealed door in my room which made the sound from neighbouring rooms to be transparent. A double bed should not be two single beds connected. Many hotels do this but It is as uncomfortable and small as one single bed. I do not recommend the spa.

Great location, amazing view to the ocean, tasty breakfasts. Staff is very nice. In the room they welcomed us with pastels de nata and drink Brisa

We had a room for 3 people and I was sleeping on the couch as 3rd bed - it was very uncomfortable, my hips hurt me after each night. Also, from high standard hotel I would expect more events happening, their calendar was very chaotic and I found it boring. Except from the view and location, there is not much more to get. On the website it was written they have indoor pool which they don't have and outside pool was cold

Insufficient communication of the reception personnel. We informed staff about the bad smell (sewage) in the bathroom on the first morning. Since nothing happened, notified them again 3 days later. Then we were informed that it would need maintenance and finally offered us to change room on Sunday. Since we were leaving on Tuesday and had full day excursions on both Sunday and Monday, we decided not change rooms. We would have appreciated more transparent communication about the situation (and an honest apology).

What an exceptional hotel! From the utterly fantastic staff to the mouth-watering A La Carte menu, we had an incredible time. We stayed here for our honeymoon as we had already been a couple of years prior and already loved what it was like beforehand. The extra touches we were given on arrival such as the bottle of sparkling wine and pastille de nada were much appreciated. The hotel has had a massive revamp in the last 2 years and it clearly shows with the new exterior paint, new panes of glass to help keep out noise and heat and the bedrooms just look so much more modern. The range of food for breakfast is fantastic; from fresh fruit and muesli, to having omelettes made exactly to order, you will always find something that tickles your fancy in the morning. The A La Carte ‘surf and turf’ meal during the week in the clubhouse was honestly one of the best meals I have ever had- I would almost go as far as rating it as highly as some Michelin star meals we have had in the past. It is no surprise that we just love this hotel so much that we have now invested in the Pestana Vacation Club so that we can continue to enjoy it for years to come with friends and family.

For the lower apartments, it would be good to have some mosquito spray in the room as we got bitten to death on the first night. Quite a few flies on some of the cheeses in the food area- perhaps protective covers in that food region.

The property is beautiful and nicely situated on a cliff, for amazing views all day. There is a convenience store across the street, walkable to many restaurants and a beautiful promenade. The pool and access to the ocean were great with easy to climb steps/ramps for all mobility types to access and lifeguards on duty. The staff are wonderful and kind. The breakfast was really good and had plenty of variety.

The only issue was with the shower not draining fully but we noticed this in another hotel as well. We also booked the Tea Time as a birthday treat, but sadly, it was not very good. Staff were really wonderful and understanding and gave us a glass of sparkling wine instead.

Good location, easy to get bus to town. At check in staff provided us with a big list of excursions and activities they could book for us. Breakfast had a wide choice, thought could get a bit messy towards the end of the service. Pool area was lovely and clean, pity we didn’t get to use to more with the weather. Could access the sea directly from the hotel/pool area. Maids did a lovely job each day with some fantastic towel art. Rooms lovely and clean, v spacious. Cold water pressure was an issue but was fixed quickly once it was brought up. Bathrooms are lovely. Never got the complimentary drinks though which was a shame.

Cocktails weren’t 10/10. Is a long walk into town (45 minutes) but if you don’t mind that location is good and plenty of restaurants (touristy and otherwise) nearby. Beds weren’t that comfortable and after woke during the night as was a bit stiff/sore.

The hotel is excellent! I have stayed in other hotels in Portugal, and this one is the best! 1. Perfect location near a decent supermarket. 2. Affordable and available parking nearby. 3. Stunning view from the room (we had an ocean view). 4. Delicious breakfasts. 5. Great service.

Animal abuse. During one of the breakfasts, a showman came into the restaurant with a bird, offering to take pictures. The staff did not intervene, and it seemed like this might even be part of the hotel's entertainment. My spouse and I do not support animal abuse, so this experience ruined one of our breakfasts.
