They stole my money inside the room😣

Hostel was good and nice ,it is clean and live, very good breakfast and big room , BUT after spending 20 days all around of South Africa : Johannesburg does not worth to visit not at all. It is a very dangerous city. even for a short walk you will be in danger of get rubbed,nothing special to do there.

Very social and local atmosphere. If you wanna habg wuth some hip africans then this is your place. Not many rich white guys around which is a nice change. Very cool. The street this place is on is pretty safe.. but dont go thinking this is a small beach town on western cape. Still not actually safe. I think this is the best place to stay if you want to see the real joburg.

The security of the hostel seemed a bit casual. Many locals walking through the pub/hangout area, wouldnt be much to walk up the stairs. There is a keypad on the room, however. Thats the only security apart from the bar man watching out. Staff were pretty cool, but a bit too "cool" if you know what i mean. More interested in fist bumping their hip ganja smoking friends than connecting or advising guests..

Conveniency

Security is not 24hrs. I was robbed infront of of the accommodation while I was waiting for my Bolt to Sandton, they took my phone with bank card and drivers license. It was a challenge getting back to the airport. Maybe consider security at night for the clients to be safe.

Its an Island of african hospitality in an urban Jungle. So nice to sit on the Veranda for breakfast with eggs on Toast and cereals. Very Kind and heloful personell.

There is no real Option to Go in the City Center or around the Block. I got brutaly robbed at Carlton Center from behind, all my phones and wallet taken. I passed out on the sidewalk with plenty people in the Shops around. Im gratefy! to be alive and not stabbed by a knife. Thanks to the Robbers They left my passport on the sidewalk. So Never Go out and Walk this area. Its Not Worte it. people stay at the Hostel and leave the Place with Uber only. No walking. I was the only white. Gay at Carlton Center. Watch the Movie Tsotsie from 2005. Nothing has changed since then. Even the police savs Its Bad and getting Worte.

I honestly couldn't ask for a better location. The beds were comfortable, and the decor in the lobby and throughout most of the hostel was inspiring and cool. The staff at the reception and the bar were kind, helpful, and competent, which I appreciated a lot. Plus, the bar/lobby is lively and I got to meet some great people there, including the hostel's founder, Bheki, who deserves a world of praise for realizing this vision of a hostel that connects people to the heart of JoBurg.

Literally, the only thing I didn't like was how my colleague and I were "chaperoned" at night when we decide to go out without a clear explanation as to why. The staff member who followed us kept saying that we would be crazy to go out by ourselves and pressuring us into going out, generating an atmosphere of distrust and insecurity. I appreciate the underlying concern with us tourists, who tend to be easy targets for pickpocketing and other scams, but I wish the hostel had been more transparent about this protocol.

Every staff member from Curiocity was very friendly and helpful. The facilities, bar and specialty of the kitchen were perfect. I ended up staying in a private room, very comfortable by the way. Also had a portable heater that helped during the night. Bathrooms were maintained cleaned through my stay. No complains about it. This hostel has everything that you expect for the value.

At night it can get a little noisy due to the surrounding clubs so I would recommend ear covers.

Great hostel in the central part of the city, in the lively neighborhood of Maboneng. Location is pretty busy and you should stay there if you enjoy nightlife and artsy places. Close to other parts of the city, not far from the airport. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Beds are comfortable and everything is tidy and clean.

Location is not so calm if you want to rest, there is a lot of noise in some rooms, some streets nearby are not recommended for walking.

My stay at curiosity was phenomenal. Tanya, Lebo and Lisa were absolute angels taking me out to Kwa Mai Mai market, giving recommendations and just being incredibly warm and helpful. The games night was a great way to meet locals and get absolutely flogged in chess. Also the Maboneng tour with Kaizer is an absolute must! Unmissable. Even better on a Saturday for the healer's market! Seriously this neighborhood is so cool and the Chesenyama at Kwa Mai Mai is superb and very cheap.

This place is in a relative safe area, a bit away from the very dangerous city center. the bar has a good vibe and a security guard keeping the place safe. the room is clean and pretty spacious with lockers available. the bathrooms are also clean and tidy. staff are outstanding. Everyone working there is very helpful and kind. Big thanks to them all! Upstairs there is a big kitchen for self catering and a nice north facing balcony for relaxing. there is also a nice little pool in the courtyard for the summer time. Thumbs up!!!

regular power and water outages. But I would not blame the hostel and assumingly it is beyond their control. other than that, it is a good place to stay, if ones really cannot avoid to be in Jo-burg.
