Location was great; walking distance to everything you need to see and do in the downtown area- food and shopping. Quaint building and nice size rooms with comfortable bed. Really enjoyed the courtyard area for breakfast and in the evenings to sit with friends to cool down and chat before turning in.

No A/C in the rooms. We were there in May and it was hot. We had to leave window open and use the loud ceiling fan to cool the room enough to get some sleep, but it was still warm.

The location is unbeatable, one block off the main square and near many sights of interest, all within walking distance. The restaurant offers great home cooking, a welcome change from the generic and over-priced food you find at many restaurants catering to tourists downtown. Staff are warm and courteous, and willing to provide customized attention.

It comes with the territory that a downtown hotel will be exposed to loud city noise and traffic, and to the noise of revelry (e.g., firecrackers) during festive seasons. Since those are frequent, and an attraction to visit Oaxaca, this is almost unavoidable. Just be prepared for it.

Location and the restaurant. Free coffee in the morning

Can be loud from city noise. Little flow from the shower.

We had the suite on a semi-private courtyard filled with light and potted plants on the second (and top) floor at the back of the hotel. The suite was large and nicely furnished with a spacious living room, bedroom and bathroom. All was kept spotless by staff. The bed was very comfortable with large pillows. It was right around the corner from the main walking street and El Zocalo - the main plaza - and also only a short walk to the Mercados Benito Juarez and 20th of November. Many excellent restaurants were within 5 to 15 minute walks as were all the museums and botanical garden. Purified water was supplied on check-in in the room and through out the stay by water dispensers in the main courtyards.

Mornings began fairly early, largely because of what we came to call The Mad Bellringer of Oaxaca - actual church bells (not electronic) clearly operated by an enthusiastic or possibly slightly deranged individual at the church on the corner. We made a joke of it and though it did wake us up, it gave us an early start on the day. By the second Monday, the bells appeared to be rung by a more sedate individual - and thankfully began a full hour later! NOT the hotel's fault and we truly enjoyed our stay at this lovely hotel in a beautiful historic building with a very friendly and helpful staff.

This place is located only a 5-minute walk from the main square, so you'll be within walking distance from most attractions in the historic centre. The staff are great, super friendly, and helpful. The place has a wonderful character, traditional of the colonial buildings of Oaxaca. The room we had was incredibly spacious and comfy. So YES, I'd recommend it.

Could have better water pressure in the wash bowl and the toilet, sometimes the toilet took a long while to fill up again with water. The shower was okay though, with lots of hot water to take a proper shower.

Great location in walking distance to so much. And my actual room was amazing. It was upstairs in the back of the building and had a great little porch outside with tables and chairs that I would sit at in the evenings drinking some beers. I ate breakfast there one of the mornings and it was delicious and located in the cute little courtyard. The people at the front desk were always super nice and super helpful. They even were nice enough to call a cab for me when I needed to get to one of my Airbnb experiences.

The only con is that it is located near a nightclub of some sort called Blackcherry and you could hear music until pretty late at night. I still loved the hotel though.

We enjoyed the historic, small feel of the place. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast options were delicious. Rooms very clean and accommodating housekeeping staff. Excellent location near the Zocalo.

Our only complaint was the level of noise from the street at night. Not the usual traffic but the bar/dance hall down the street.

The hotel is a typical Mexican hotel and located very close to the main square (zocalo). It has its charms and the staff is both accommodating and friendly. The internet in the room fluctuated a bit but was mostly OK. The same goes for the hot water. We stayed in a room with two double beds and had plenty of space. The mattresses were firm and comfortable. The room faced the courtyard and was a bit dark, but you get used to it. There are water dispensers on both floors, which is very convenient.

Super clean hotel in a great, safe location! Traveling as a tourist with my 3 teen kids, and it was great. It's close to el Zocalo, but quiet at night (even with a balcony room). Breakfast was great! Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. There is no elevator (like almost all hotels in el centro) but the staff will haul your luggages upstairs. Wifi was great, I was able to get some work done there. Heads up: If you have a car that you need to park, pull up to the front desk. They give you a Hotel pass, pay the front desk, and you give it to the parking lot staff a few feet away. Car was fine and they have security there to watch over it at all times.

Wish bar was open, it was closed the days we stayed there. Would have been nice!

The historical house and patio are fantastic, right next to Zócalo. As it is an old house, I needed to understand some things first (e.g. how the water works), but the staff was kind and fast to explain. Best of all was the kind service who really took their time. They were extremely helpful in rendering me info on how to get to Matatlan on my own and organised a taxi. A full 10 - I would definitely stay again!

The description of the room on booking.com - actually still differs a bit from the room on-site (there is no balcony). Be that as it may, the reception switched me to another room and, though still without balcony, guaranteed a perfect stay. Thank you once again.
