The hotel is incredible value. The rooms, staff and breakfasts were all excellent. The WiFi was good, and there was free coffee and tea throughout the day.
We don't advise walking back after about 8.30pm. There is a short non-touristy area to walk through between the hotel and the city centre, and while we might have been unlucky we had a menacing encounter at about 9pm. Just get an uber home, it's incredibly cheap and the hotel is otherwise absolutely perfect.

As soon as we arrived to Casa Esmeralda, I felt very comfortable by the warm greeting of the staff, especially by Gina. They had our room ready, even though we arrived early. Our superior king suite was extremely comfortable and very clean. The shower was nice and warm and the water pressure was beyond powerful. We usually had breakfast there as it was included in our stay. The breakfast was delicious and we quickly got acquainted with the staff there, who were so kind and gave us a lot of suggestions in what to do or try in Peru. Can’t say enough about our stay there and I will be recommending to family and friends. Muchas gracias Gina y a todos los de Casa Esmeralda. Nos encantó quedarnos allí mientras explorábamos a su lindo Perú.
Nada.

It's a small hotel with a "homey" vibe. My stay came with complimentary breakfast and they have a special menu to choose from. The staff, especially Gladys (reception) was very helpful, courteous and accommodating. The bed was comfortable and Housekeeping really kept my room clean.
The location. Hotel is in a somewhat residential area and the alley was not well lighted at night. You have to walk about 5 mins to get to the main street where you can find the pharmacy, grocery store and a few restaurants. Plaza De Armas is about 10-15 mins by Uber. Staff at the reception was only available at certain times. You are given the code to get into the hotel but most of the time, especially at night you get startled by guests ringing the doorbell and slamming their doors shut.

Casa Esmeralda by Katari is a very quaint and cute property close to Cusco city centre. The facility is clean, pretty modern/charming, and the breakfast was great. Options included bread, fruit, cheese, cereals, yogurt, eggs, etc. You also have access to tea and coffee all day. Cusco city-centre is about a 12-15 minute walk away, which we did frequently and it really was a nice walk, but the roads take some getting used to! Lots of traffic but just follow the street signs and google maps. There is a supermarket within minutes of walking, and 200m down the street from the hotel, there is a chicken restaurant and pizza spot we ordered from frequently (in case you don't want to go back to the centre of the city). Giara, the hotel manager/receptionist, is SO lovely and very easy to communicate with via whatsapp or onsite. I have no complaints! One thing to note, and it's not the hotel's fault, is that water use is limited in the evening for showers because of a water crisis in Cusco. However, after coming back from our Inca Trail trek, Giara turned on the water for us so we could shower. She also let us store our luggage at the hotel while we were on the trek. She is really just a text message away and so accommodating.
No complaints! Everything was great.

I recently stayed in this hotel in Cusco and had a mixed experience. The location was great, offering easy access to local attractions, and the staff were friendly and helpful. However, we faced issues with hot water during our stay, which was quite inconvenient. Overall, it was a decent place, but I hope they can resolve the water issues for future guests.
It's important to be cautious with the room descriptions, as not all rooms have the views advertised on Booking. Make sure to confirm the specifics when booking to avoid any disappointment.

Lady at the front desk was really nice, they stored our luggage for us for two day for free, breakfast was decent and the lady that works there in the kitchen is really nice.
Rooms are kinda small but it didn’t really matter since we literally just slept there. And also water was only available per request - so kind of inconvenient but not impossible to figure out. Only issue is if you go to bathroom over night and there is no water you can’t flush. We came from downtown later in the night and couldn’t brush our teeth and wash our hands since there was no water. I know it’s because of the drought that Cusco is experiencing so not to blame them just to put it out there.

The staff are friendly and will do anything to help you. During our stay, we mostly communicated with Maria Nela, who is extremely kind. We asked them to prepare a takeaway breakfast for us 3 mornings and it was no problem. Breakfast in the facility is varied and excellent.
The location is a 15-minute walk from the center and there are no restaurants or cafes nearby where you could spend your free time. In addition, it is difficult to use the shower without getting your hair wet because it sprays everywhere

Very big bed with sockets right next to it. Staff is super nice and helpful, although they don’t speak a lot of English. We liked the location - short walk to the historic centre, and area felt very safe. No problems extending our stay by one night. We very provided a simple packed lunch when going on early morning trips, which was nice. Breakfast at the hotel was nice but…
…the breakfast did feel a bit unorganized. One morning, although not very busy at the time, kitchen staff took a long time to replenish the buffet and drinks. They had also run out of some items, which were not even in stock the day after (no special holidays or anything causing this). Also experienced that items from the menu could not be chosen multiple days in a row. So don’t expect too much of the breakfast, and you might be positively surprised.

If you enjoy some quiet from the bustling city center, this place was perfect. Located 15 mins walk from the city center (it doesn’t feel that far honestly), the photos of the hotel are as shown in the pictures provided. The place is really clean and cosy. Giara liaises with the guests ensuring every need is covered. She and the team have been so lovely and helpful throughout. They do prepare packed breakfast for whenever we had to leave early for our tours. Absolutely enjoyed our time at the stay

Receptionist couldn't do enough for us and was very kind and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Room was amazing with glass enclosed balcony and stylish bathroom. Clean and comfortable.
Water being turned off overnight due to local drought. However this was outside the control of the hotel and they warned us about it, giving us the opportunity for showers etc. A longer walk into city centre, but we felt safe and were able to manage it.
