Nestled in the heart of town, the motel’s prime location puts you just a stone's throw away from charming cafes, delectable restaurants, and essential services. Plus, the Botanical Gardens and Venus Baths are within an easy stroll. The room was a haven of quiet comfort with all the essentials for a fantastic stay—including a mammoth TV (75" perhaps?) ready to stream YouTube, Netflix, Prime, and more. David and Kelly were exceptional hosts, generously sharing their knowledge about local hikes and walks, which we eagerly explored. Kelly’s passion for conservation and the environment was truly inspiring. The pre-arrival SMS/email was a treasure trove of vital tips, especially for navigating the Grampians for first-timers—an invaluable and enjoyable read. Nothing to fault.

The motel is on the main street, just a few properties away from the oval where the kangaroos congregate. If you lucky, (as I was), you will see roos and kookaburras outside your door. The staff are excellent. extremely knowledgeable of the area and happy to provide advice for walks and "must see" places to visit. The room is clean, comfortable and has almost everything one would need for a stay at The Grampians. Highly recommend staying here.
Apart from one rather rainy afternoon and breaking the zip on my rain jacket, I can't complain - especially not about the property or David and Kelly - they are awesome.

Great location! Surrounded by beautiful native’s which made us feel like we were nice and secluded, yet we were only a short walk from town. Kelly and David were fantastic hosts and quite honestly made the experience! We only stayed one night but we will definitely be back, there were some great walking tracks near by we would really like to try out. Thank you Gariwerd Motel!
Bathroom sink taps were a bit hard to use as I have a pain condition in my hands. I found that there was nothing on the tap I could grip onto and my hands would just slide around on the edges.

The Gariwerd Motel ticked all the boxes for us. It's an older style motel that has been done up with all the comforts you need without losing that old motel charm. Rooms have plenty of space and comfy beds. We loved the extras like the communal kitchen and BBQ where you could fix a meal if like us you found that all the eating options were booked out as it was a long weekend. The motel was within walking distance to the centre of town and across the road from the bike path. We had a room at the rear of the property and it was really peaceful. Lovely garden area complete with fire pit, tables and kangaroos. Another box that was ticked was the management - excellent communication and when we mentioned there was a leaky tap in our bathroom the plumber was called that day and all was fixed. Sometimes its the little things that make a difference.
Nothing - The motel was just as we expected

Perfect location at the heart of the Grampians, only a short stroll away to the center of Halls Gap, and within walking distance to must-do hike trails. Conveniently, the bus stop is a mere few metres away for those travelling V-Line/Coach - carpark available on site too. My room was spacious, cozy, peaceful, clean and lovely, and the bed was really comfy so I slept like a rock - exactly what I needed for my stay. The hospitality well exceeded my expectations; add in a shared BBQ area and a cute backyard, topped off with the best night sky views in town. What’s not to love? Thank you Tony and David for a wonderful stay, I hope to return soon!

The owners were extremely accommodating and not only approved our request of a late check out, they also upgraded our room at no extra cost. The rooms had enough room for me and my young adult kids, and was walking distance to town centre.
The old story of the kettle not quite fitting under the bathroom sink tap could have been avoided with a small jug. Because we visited on a cold winters day, it would have been perfect if the room heater had been turned on before our arrival - it was pretty cold in the room when we arrived.

I must say I don’t think I’ve ever had more helpful owners at a motel! The information we received about the room, amenities and local attractions was abundant and very helpful. The location was perfect! Just a 10 minute stroll into the centre of town and a quick drive up the mountain to some of the key ‘must see’ attractions in the Grampians. We were lucky enough to be able to book this room on a deal, which made it good value for money for a family of 4.
Step in bath/shower (I’m never really a fan of these)

1. Hosts communicated clearly and made check-in/out very simple 2. Air con was on when we arrived making the room pleasant 3. Simple cutlery and plates/glasses available for use 4. Microwave, kettle and toaster in room 5. The location was good for us. Just outside the town centre close to walking tracks 6. Bed was firm and very comfortable. We had a great sleep. 7. The small firepits with surrounding seating, were really cool. Made me think of hanging out with friends, toasting marshmallows and telling stories around the fire. 8. Shower was nothing fancy but did the job. Had a handheld attachment which was convenient. 9. Moccona coffee satchels was a win! I usually take coffee but forgot on this occasion so not having to resort to horrible Nescafe (which gets provided alot) was wonderful.
1. Was woken at 6:30am but a yapping dog. I think it was another guests so not the hotels fault. We were aware pets were allowed at the property,I guess I was just expecting owners to be considerate of others if they had a dog with them. Honestly the dog thing was the only issue we had.

Great location walking distance to center of town and several trailheads. The managers, Kelly and David, couldn’t have been more helpful with recommendations for hikes and restaurants, or anything we needed. Lots of kangaroos around, which was cool. The room was spacious and clean, very comfy bed, great shower. Would definitely stay there again.
The heater struggled to warm up the room, so it was a bit chilly (it was winter after all). The heating pads on the bed, however, are a nice touch!

Excellent mid price accomodation for basic needs whilst exploring the beautiful Gariwerd/Grampians area. Clean facilities, with basic tea/coffee and microwave area plus very clean bathrooms and good hot showers. Comfortable beds with heated blankets, in room split system and extra blankets/pillows available. Very friendly accomodating staff with a wealth of knowledge. If you are looking for somewhere comfortable and clean to lay your head each night after a day exploring the mountains this is most definitely the place. Great location for a short walk into town via bike path as well as easy access to Venus Baths and Clematis Falls practically on your doorstep. Outdoor seating and firepit add to the mountain experience. Like a more comfortable version of camping with all the comforts of home!
