The Hotel was perfect. It was close enough to town, train, and the tram to be convenient, but just outside the more trafficked areas. The rooms were spacious, clean and well appointed. (We switched rooms to upgrade our view mid-stay.) We ate in the restaurant hotel for breakfasts and for several dinners. The food was always very good. Best of all, Martina made everything happen. She was a great source of information, interpreted the Meteoswiss weather predictions, helped us with some local calls that we had to make and in general was always giving off positive vibes before, during and after our day. I would highly recommend the Hotel Berghaus just because of the special attention that Martina brought to our stay!
One request would be a plug on top of a the desk dedicated to putting in guests' chargers, etc. This is a common suggestion that I had for our stays in Switzerland. Most of the plugs were dedicated to other appliances and were all located near the floor.

The location is a classic family owned Swiss hotel with a gorgeous view. The location is perfect, not too close to the town center/railway station but also not too far. The walk from train station to the hotel is uphill but is not too long nor too steep. As a side note, Wengen is the perfect place to stay for visiting the Jungfrau area with great access to all the surrounding attractions: Lauterbrunnen valey with it's beautiful watterfalls, Interlaken, Mueren with quick access to Birg and Piz Gloria, Grindelwald and, last but not least, Jungfraujoch.

If you don't like walking, this hotel is not for you, and neither is Switzerland. It's maybe a quarter of a mile from the train station, uphill. A very pleasant walk, but if you're not a walker, you won't like it. I thought it helped reduce vacation fat, and it helped us get to know the town. The lady who runs the place could not have been nicer. Very helpful with everything. She did more for us than she had to. Ask her for tips on where you should and should not go. She will be honest about the overrated destinations. Her English is perfect. Our room was spacious and nearly spotless, and, incredibly, it looked like the photos on the web. They didn't use a super-wide-angle lens to make a shoebox look like a palace. The bathroom was very large, with neat old-fashioned fixtures. The tub was a little perilous compared to modern tubs. The towels were scratchy, but that's Europe for you. They haven't discovered the electric dryer. No bidet. Our room was quiet. No drunks fighting in the hallways. No garbage trucks beeping as they backed up to dumpsters at 4 a.m. We could have slept with the windows open. The only real noise came from the bed, which was two twins pushed together. When we moved, it made clattering sounds. Breakfast was served buffet-style. You're not going to get a stack of pancakes with real maple syrup and American-style sausage in Europe, but there was a big selection of bread, boiled eggs, tea, and so forth. When you have breakfast, throw your key (a real key) on the table you want on the way in. An old guy did this to us even though he arrived after we did. The next day, we turned the tables on him, to use an appropriate phrase, and he had to sit somewhere else. Seems like a rude custom, but we don't make the rules. Wengen is a great base for exploring the area. Lauterbrunnen is noisy, Grindelwald is kind of a dump, and Interlaken lacks charm. From Wengen, anything you want to see is a short ride away.
My wife complained about some mold on a soap dispenser. Personally, I did not care. Towels rough. Bed rattled.

Very nice family run hotel in amazingly scenic little village. This was our first time in the Bernese Alps and the view from our balcony was a postcard perfect panorama of the Jungfrau, Monch, and Eiger mountains as well as several others. Wengen is much, much nicer that nearby Lauterbrunnen. Martina our host was very helpful and friendly and responded quickly to emails before our visit. The cold European style breakfast was great with amazing bread, fruit and yogurt. Be sure to have dinner here at least once - great food featuring local fish. Seems a little pricey but compares to local prices and face it - Swirzerland is expensive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful location, tremendous views, quiet surroundings. The hotel is clean, cute, set of forward the end of a very cozy “neighborhood” setting in Wengen. In the early morning you hear the clink of cowbells as a local farmer moves 8 to 10 cows from the pasture, where they spent the night, back to the barn. All this happening in the street outside the property. Children and their parents, along with hotel guests clamor to catch a glimpse of the bovine parade with their cell phones and cameras at the ready. The parade reverses itself again later in the evening the cows return to pasture. But it’s really all about the staff and management. Martina (owner) continues the family business (now 40 years) in the family. She and her team make every guest feel special with tips about the town, venues to visit, information on best hiking locations and of course, taking care of their needs. The hotel provides complimentary breakfast service each morning and the restaurant offers a full, substantial menu each evening. Me and my wife thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the establishment.
We had no issues or concerns. We’d return in a heartbeat.

Can’t beat the view. Immaculately clean. Fantastic staff. Good breakfast included. Very quiet. Location, location, location!
Bathroom very clean and well maintained but outdated and a bit dark, however we think this is likely the case in most hotels in Wengen. Beds were low to ground and mattresses were hard so this may pose an issue for someone with a mobility issue or a bad back. Balcony made up for both of these!

Spectacular views from our front-facing bedroom! The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful, recommending excellent hiking strategies (there are so many trails and gondolas in the area!) and other suggestions. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The hotel restaurant is outstanding, especially for its fish dishes. We also liked that the hotel is large but not giant, and always felt like a local family business. We stayed for 4 nights and it was too short.

The hotel is just above the main street and is a 10 minute walk from the station, and 3 minutes uphill from the main street, which makes it a bit more of a quiet area and is a nice place to relax. The views from the balcony (off of the room) of the valley were stunning. The staff were so friendly and helpful - we wouldn't hesitate to stay the next time we are in the area. We only had the breakfast which featured many local products which was super nice to have to get your day started.
There was not much to not like - If I'm being picky, the towels could have been a bit nicer but that's about it...

The staff were phenomenal, and the location/view was unmatched. Good breakfast. Clean and well kept. The hostess is from the community and was extremely helpful, providing lots of good tips for things to do in the area.
The bathroom was extremely outdated, not something that would typically bother me but the shower in particular was a pain to use and leaked all over the bathroom. Very few outlets - the one beside the bed didn't work.

This was our first time at Hotel Berghaus but won’t be our last. Everything blew us away. The amazing view out our balcony and waking up to the sound of cowbells. The hospitality and many excellent recommendations provided by our host Martina made our trip special. The breakfast was fantastic - and we were lucky to get a table for dinner at the hotel restaurant and it was the best meal of our trip!
Nothing! Wish we had more time there
