I loved the food at this hotel and restaurant. Breakfast was a simple buffet, but it included fresh-baked bread and pastries, fresh-churned butter, jams and honey, and fresh-squeezed juices. All of the cheeses, butter, and most meats were from the village or Lauterbrunnen. The dinner menu had many choices and everything was delicious and well-presented. Even my kids were able to find something they enjoyed. The staff were all incredibly kind and helpful, very hard-working. Plenty of towels were provided and the room was clean. The mugs in the room for coffee/tea were so cute and I wish I could have purchased one! Our room's view was of the buildings that faced the hotel, but even this view was stunning due to the beautiful mountains surrounding us. The view in the restaurant is stunning.
When we first arrived to the village, it was confusing trying to find the hotel. It would've been nice to have directions sent to us before arrival to avoid the confusion of the roads around the train station.

We had an incredible experience at this hotel! The balcony room with a view is well worth the little extra and the included breakfast was incredible! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Wengen is simply the best village in the area in my opinion and I'm so glad we stayed there. It was a little unusually warm in Switzerland while we there but we were able to crack the balcony door while keeping it closed and locked and they provided a fan for air flow so it was quite comfortable at night. We had dinner at the restaurant one evening and it was great too! Thank you Hotel Baren!

It is a beautiful property. It’s located perfectly and the amenities are good. The restaurant is amazing! We had the family room and I wish we had air conditioning because despite the cool temperature outside, our room got pretty warm. We opened the windows but the wind wasn’t blowing our way and bugs were getting in. Beds are comfortable, there are closets for hanging your clothes, there is a coffee maker and a kettle. Staff is friendly and they drove our luggage to the train station because you don’t want to push it up the hill even though only a few minutes walk from the train station.

The staff were lovely and the property was very peaceful. Bathroom was a generous size. The buffet breakfast was included and really delicious. The staff gave us a lift from the property to the train station with our luggage when we checked out which was very helpful!! The property is located just outside of the main centre of Wengen which meant it was a lot quieter, which was nice.
A small fridge would have been helpful for keeping water cold. We didn’t pay for the best room so the room was a little cramped, and we were on the top floor so had a half height window which we had to bend down to see the view out of.

Staff is amazing. Buying the breafast and dinner plan is almost essential as the food prices in the area are outrageous. We went to a less expensive place and had two hamburgers, a hot dog, and one kebab plate (inedible) for over $80! So the dinner at the hotel would have been better. Breakfast was wonderful and worth the extra cost. I was ill and the staff and owners went out of their way to offer help. They even gave me their private number in case I needed to be driven to hospital in the middle of the night. The hotel is exceptional.
Everything was great. No complaints.

Wengen is a car free village. Village itself is already very beautiful. We are with 3 persons. a room is separate with a wall, so looks like you have a separate room. Room is big, toilet is big. Bed is comfortable, just the pillow is way too soft. kettle boiler in the room, tea and coffee. Room is cleaned everyday. we had a room facing street, not the mountain. a bit pity. but still beautiful enough. windows possible to open. COMPLIMENT TO EXCELLENT BREAKFAST. all fresh ingrediantes, fresh orange juice, self boiled eggs, so you can control how soft or hard you want your egg. the croissants are amazing. I never had such delicious croissants.
The receptionst who check us in, a bit unfriendly.

The staff, views, and restaurant cannot be topped. We had the absolute best time! We rented the family cabin, and it's right next to an adorable play area. Melissa was so kind to our 2 and 4 year olds. We had the best time! I already want to go back!
The property is down a short hill which can be tough after long hiking days, but that's hard to avoid in the mountains! It didn't deter us at all.

The staff was extremly friendly. The woman that welcomed us (I presume she was the owner of the hotel) actualy gave us a larger room with mountain view free of additional charge. Me and my girlfriend are foodies, and we like fancy restaurants. The restaurant in the hotel was Michelin standard, for a reasonable price (Dinner costed around 150€ but it was worth of it). Very tasty and good portions.
Could have been a bigger variaty on the breakfast, but still not to bad. We werent hungry when we left :)

The hotel is run by a family who clearly loves their property, It is sparkly clean, and fairly comfortable. Meals can be a part of the board; it is ok and on par with most restaurants in the area. Breakfast is good with a wide spread of choices; it would have been nice to have eggs made to order, Staff were so nice and always had a smile on their faces. Beds were futons mattresses, which is a hit-or-miss depending on what one prefers. There is room for a desk with chair but not much more sitting area. Sound-proofing was pretty amazing because even though we were adjacent to the elevator and the front lobby as well as facing the street, we didn't have any problem with noise.
If your family's kids are older, it is probably better to get 2 rooms facing the mountains and share a balcony and use that as the "connection." The family rooms are the worst rooms in the entire place. They are on the first and second floor, right above the lobby, wrapped around the elevator and face the street level. There is no view at all and no balcony. It's a real bummer when every other room in the place is more spacious and has pretty awesome views, Also, the last train back to Wengen is around 9ish, so be careful.

Breakfast was amazing - fantastic variety of choices and delicious food with flexible hours to attend between 7:30-10:30am! We had the Kleine Bar (Small Bear) chalet to ourselves which was lovely but the kitchen facilities (oven) were not operational and given that we’re a family of 4, there was no lounge or dining area in the chalet and the toilet and bathroom were quite small. The only lounge in the main part of the hotel was also very small with little couch or comfortable lounge seating whilst the dining area was huge and spacious with beautiful views of the mountains. The staff were fantastic - so helpful and friendly and always accommodating and attentive to our needs and requests. We ate dinner in the restaurant for 3 nights and their food was outstanding and delicious with a different complimentary canapé starter taster every night! Overall, despite these minor issues, we loved our time in Wengen at Hotel Baren!
More lounge area for the separate chalet or a bigger balcony to enjoy the views. If they are going to provide a kitchen with an oven, make sure it is functional and practical for potential use or perhaps provide a microwave instead and some dishwasher utensils such as dish washing liquid/soap and some cloths to scrub and also dry stuff.
