The location was beautiful, easy to get to via bus from Takayama. The food selections were diverse and we enjoyed the options to cook a little something on our table. The room was beautiful and comfortable. Very happy to have a humidifier too!!

This is a tough one. The hotel and staff did such a stellar job offering me opportunities to be in the Onsens - since I have a large tattoo on my arm. I was/am SO grateful for this. It was tough to stay up late enough to use the onsen after public hours, I was so sleepy. And, I know it would have been extra beautiful during the daytime. But, the hotel accommodated me well. So, I’m thankful! 😁

I booked specifically because we wanted to relax a lot in the onsens. This ryokan had a few options for onsens that even if you didn't book a private onsen I still had enough privacy when I bathed. The hotel room was very spacious and the more western style bed was very comfy and soft. I really enjoyed the buffet style option for Dinner and Breakfast.

I wish the breakfast hours were a little longer. We went to take a hike in kamikochi but it was tight to squeeze that in before breakfast was over. We were able to have a decent breakfast a little under 30 minutes before closing but quite a few of the options were out or being removed at that point.

The location is great as a base visiting Kamikochi and nearby attractions. The walk to bus station is less than five minutes. You can experience the traditional onsen stay ( should not compare it to modern western style stay). The long and meandering walks in the hallway is part of the charm. The onsen bath is of good size and different indoor/outdoor choice. The buffet style meal is of good value.

Although taking off shoes at indoor facilities is norm but the worn public slippers provided don’t feel sanitary. At the dining room the slippers are not even permitted.

Amazing location if you want to visit Kamikochi and Takayama. Cute and quiet little town in the mountains with a few great restaurants. Onsen was beautiful and the highlight of the stay. If you want a traditional Japanese Ryokan stay, this is a great place. Good onsite breakfast and dinner too! Staff were incredibly nice and accommodating.

Nothing bad to say. We loved our stay and would recommend this to anyone wanting to visit the area and have a traditional Japanese onsen experience.

Very comfortable hotel, nice onsen, loved the Japanese style of the rooms. The buffet dinner and breakfast have a great variety of food. Even though we were not stunned by the quality, it was good. Nice facilities and common rooms with activities to spend the evening.

Overall the onsen is nice and clean, and the outdoor space is very pretty. The only downside is that we expected more different types of pools (for example some whirlpools) instead the pools only have warm or warmer water.

I liked that the property is nearly all-inclusive. The onsen facilities were very nice and there are two massage chairs in the room adjacent. There is a room with table tennis on the second floor which is fun. A nice buffet breakfast and dinner are served. I enjoyed the atmosphere. Staff are great and patient about visitors who don’t speak much Japanese. Many English speaking staff.

The futon mattresses take a little getting used to, but they are standard to a Japanese style hotel.

The buffet was really good. Rooms were spacious and reasonably priced. Good variety of baths excellent outdoor baths. 1 min walk from the bus station. Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful gardens and waterfalls at the hotel.

Japanese beds are hard. Like plywood with a sheet on it hard. In 53 days in Japan these were the softest beds. Still hard but softer. The foam pillow was not to my liking. No ATM in hotel or in town.

After hiking at kamakochi; very nice onsen, all you can eat buffet with traditional japanese food, very comfy bed, japanese style room, massage chairs, you get japanese pyamas where you can walk all day in (even to the restaurant). Completly relaxing.

Breakfast time is 7-8:15. Inconvenient if you want to catch an early bus or want to sleep in. Maybe a larger range in breakfast hours is better.

Great onsen experience, excellent dinner and breakfast, true and very beautiful Japanese design, very friendly staff.

When we got the room we found out that we booked a room without a shower/bath... Only toilet... It is not emphasized enough in the booking.com listing, so note that there are such rooms in this hotel!!!
