The location of the hotel was perfect. A short walk from the main centre and parking nearby isn’t a problem. Overnight you can park by RingGo on the road outside if there’s space rather than leaving it in a nearby carpark. It’s not a pretty hotel from the outside but looks can be deceiving. Inside the welcome from the staff was warm. All the staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Very smiley and attentive. The family room we booked was very comfortable. Anyone who has concerns about two kids sleeping on a sofa bed needn’t worry. It was super comfy and there was plenty of room for my 12 and 10yr olds. Comfy beds, great bathroom toiletries and fluffy towels. The hotel was decorated ready for Halloween which we loved, and it seemed to be a good place for families to stay with toys, books and games available. Breakfast was a little manic but the staff were great and did their best to refill everything. Food was pretty good too.

Our room was situated overlooking the dirty linen bins outside and some extractor fans. There was a sign saying the fans switch off at midnight, which they did, but they made a heck of a noise before that point! Luckily we had earplugs with us, otherwise we would have had to move because it was pretty noisy. Tinned mushrooms to be replaced with fresh, but this is a minor irk!

We booked at very short notice, late at night after a storm which had caused widespread travel disruption and had prevented our onward train travel. The hotel was a safe 20 minute walk from the station. The room was ready on our arrival, including the sofa bed being made up as requested. The room and beds were very clean and comfortable. The staff were courteous and helpful.

The price was very high for what is a fairly standard room but all hotels in York increase their prices on a Saturday night and the price here was slightly better than others that we could find at short notice. There was some traffic noise, even from the fourth floor. Buffet breakfast was expensive so we ate elsewhere.

Its location was great. The hotel was clean and the staff were very friendly from reception to the restaurant to the housekeeping. Everything was absolutely marvellous. We had a lovely time. Excellent10 out of 10 Rochelle and the rest of the staff at reception were really so kind, so thoughtful and helpful. We couldn’t six we we. We couldn’t want for anymore. Many thanks to Holiday Inn for having such a very very good team at York city centre hotel

It would’ve been nice to have a couple of more hooks to hang things in the bathroom, especially the towels and also the wardrobe could’ve been bigger to be able to fit more in, but they are only little things compared to the rest of the hotel which was great

Very welcoming staff and friendly throughout our stay, took the time to speak with you and check all was ok. Needed some extra pillows and towels, arrived within a few minutes of request. Room was very nice and clean. really enjoyed our stay. Manager was warm and very friendly this was reflected throughout the staff. Would stay here again next year.

All very good, the only thing I could ask to improve are the bar meals, I had the curry, although nice, for the price of £11.95 it could have come with either garlic or nann bread, it was just plain rice and the curry, the portion was a bit small. I had to order a garlic bread to go along with it, but that was pizza size and too big for one. I would have had more meals in hotel if they were a bit better.

During my recent two-night stay at the Holiday Inn in York, I was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional service provided. Rochelle, in particular, stood out for her warmth, professionalism, and helpfulness. She was not only incredibly informative but also made me feel genuinely welcomed throughout my stay.

While my stay at the Holiday Inn in York was enjoyable, I believe room service could benefit from a few improvements. It would be great if guests could order a nightcap from the bar in the late evenings and have a menu in the room to easily browse meal and snack options. These additions would enhance the overall experience.

The staff were fantastic! the food was good for breakfast. The location is brilliant everything within walking distance . Plus when the staff found out it was my wife's birthday they wrote a card and put it in our room with two drinks at the bar which was a lovely touch.

The fan didn't work in our room so after we'd had showers the whole room was a bit stuffy. That the toilet lid wasn't a soft close. Also could possibly upgrade the windows to let less noise in and we was on the 5th floor.

The place was good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We did have issues which the manager went above and beyond to help resolve

We booked a family room due to my requirements. Instead we had two single beds with a tight bottom sheet coming both. After a complaint the following morning we were moved into the room we had originally booked with a complimentary bottle of fizz. I felt a refund for the first night was appropriate however was offered a partial refund. ( You make your own mind up as to if my request was reasonable or not). However I did feel the management did do everything in there power to rectify the issue. The question is would I return for another stay. Answer possibly as my overall experience was positive.

Hotel was great, staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I always make a point of staying here when I'm in the city. Got a complimentary little tray of fruit which was really nice :) The location is also fantastic given how close it is to the city centre and public transport links if you're a tourist.

Honestly, not much to complain about. We did have to pay for a security deposit when checking in despite prebooking and paying in advance, but I get this is pretty standard in the hotel industry. Not much of a complaint, just something I wasn't expecting but no big deal!

Lovely, modern hotel. The staff were welcoming and approachable and always available if needed. We added the breakfast option durning our staff and found the dining area quiet and clean with a good selection of food. It was lovely to not have to queue for a busy dining area which I think you quite often find in city hotels, especially during busy periods. The room was small for a family of four but we spent very little time in there as we had great weather and spent our time visiting the many tourist attractions York had to offer. Fab location with everything in walking distance. We’d definitely choose to stay again on any future visits to the city.

Bigger family rooms would be an added bonus, the position of the sofa bed meant you couldn’t get out without climbing over whoever was on the outside edge. If we’d have needed to spend more time in the room this may have been an issue.

The staff were amazing and friendly. They couldn’t have done anymore for us they were so helpful. We have a daughter who is disabled and they let us look at an accessible room and a standard room to see what would work best for us as a family. They even offered to add an extra bed in to the accessible room to have more space for us to sleep. We were there for my partners birthday and they sent him a birthday card to the room. The breakfast was really nice too! We had a really lovely stay!

There was nothing we didn’t like our stay was perfect!
