My room was cozy and comfortable enough. It was quiet despite being on the main street, and I had enough storage and hooks to hang and store things so that I wasn't tripping over my things. My bed was clean and comfy; the television was a good size with good channels and the bathroom clean. Breakfast was absolutely brilliant - lots of choice and really beautifully cooked, not greasy. Large glasses for juice, lots of cereal and no need too much for the cook.

There was a large green light on the ceiling that meant the room was quite bright all through the night. I was so exhausted that I slept through but in a small room it was quite significant!

Huge bedroom, massive bed and exceptional breakfast. Very clean and comfortable. So close to the city walls and free parking. Covered outside area was a bonus. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. We have stayed at numerous bed and breakfasts in York and this one has really made our stay a fantastic one.

If I had to pick at something it would be the curtains! They were not quite wide enough for the window and let light in from the sides but did not affect our stay. Probably as they are on sash windows.

Staff were amazing. Very helpful and attentive. The cost of breakfast was included in the price and the chef made an impressive full Yorkshire breakfast. I only stayed for a night but was wowed by the budget price for above average customer service.

The room i stayed in (room 6) shook everytime a vehicle passed by underneath, realised it was because the room was above a passageway. The water pressure was a little odd as the pressure from the basin increases significantly after a second being turned on. You'll get use to it but the first few times you will get wet. The pressure from the shower head was great though hot water seemed to run out around the fifth minute. I had to use on off method instead of having constant running water to avoid catching a cold. The room had a strong bleach smell. I'd opened the windows for a few hours to rid the smell so that helped a bit but the smell is toxic so hope the cleaners can be a little lighter when using chemicals.

Lovely proper pub. Servered a lovely pint friendly staff. Felt comfortable and a fantastic breakfast. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Very much appreciated a lovely pint of Aspalls. Breakfast was delicious lots of choice and the selection of cereals etc was lovely. Perfect little room for solo traveller kettle and tea and coffee provided in room. Nice little view too. Straight 15 minute walk into the centre of York. Perfect!

Cosy lovely little room. The heating came on in the afternoon when I turned the rads up not sure if it came on at night but I was very warm and cosy. Shower pressure was great not too hot but not sure if I needed to give it longer to warm up

The room was clean & comfortable, I liked the colourful chairs! The staff were helpful. A pretty good choice at breakfast. It was great to have parking there and a convenient location.

The bathroom was cramped but sufficient. The bathroom fan was very noisy and also other room's fans were disturbing. It would be better if the fan only came on with the light as this would reduce the incidence but this may not be possible with regulations. There was a very poor signal for the TV so gave up trying to watch. The coffee at breakfast could have been better

The room was very spacious with plenty of storage space. A hairdryer, iron and ironing board were also provided. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The en suite bathroom was very clean. I must mention the shower: very powerful. Quite invigorating after walking the historic streets of York Complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits were also provided. The breakfast was made to order and is highly recommended. All of the staff were pleasant and very helpful throughout our stay.

There was nothing we didn't like.

Friendly greeting and being shown to the room (room 6) was nice. Room was a good size and very clean, and as it was rear facing it was quiet at all times. Bed was comfortable with nice pillows and the bathroom was great, the shower had good pressure, plenty of towels and there were hotel toiletries. Plenty of tea and coffee with biscuits in the room as well. The pub was nice with a Bar billiards table (don't see those much nowdays). Breakfast was served in a couple of rooms and was exceptional - good menu and well cooked.

Nothing at all

Lovely room, location was great, only a short walk into the centre with the extra bonus of having an on-site car park with no extra cost. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room came with mini shampoo, body wash and hand soap in the bathroom with a nice sized shower. 2 bottles of water and tea and coffee making facilities. Plenty of storage in the room for anyone needing to hang clothes up with an iron and ironing board inside the wardrobe. Dining rooms where we ate breakfast also lovely, nice little pub.

Unfortunately the breakfast wasn't the best we've had, fried eggs were over done and crispy on the bottoms and round the sides. Bacon was extremely fatty and although menu described thick Yorkshire sausages they were thin chipolata style sausages. Breakfast buffet had a nice little array of choice with yogurts, fruit, and cereals and apple and orange juice.

Stayed in Room 7 a single room, it is small but adequate. Location of the Waggon is excellent, 5 minutes walk in to York center, it is on the park and ride Bus Route (get off at the Barbican). Breakfast is cooked to your liking and was very good, with a good choice of food. Pub itself was welcoming and friendly. There are lots of restaurants (Chinese, Indian, Italian, English, take aways) within 2 minutes. Great value for money

Perhaps the ability to check in before the 3pm threshold. If not the ability to leave you case in a safe location.

The location was spot on, only a 10 minute walk in to town which was pretty much a straight line so you couldn't get lost. On the way in to town you pass lots of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. It was great that there was a car park on site and it was secure so no need to worry about the car being safe. The pub is absolutely lovely, a real little gem with lots of choice. I think we met all of the staff over the 2 nights we were there and they were all very friendly & helpful. On arrival everything was explained, we were shown to our rooms and asked if there was anything else they could help with.. Our room was big and had everything we needed. There were fresh towels, toiletries, tea & coffee, a hairdryer, an iron & ironing board, thick curtains and wifi, i'm not sure you could ask for anything else. Breakfast was included in the price & you won't be disappointed, it was delicious and even better that you could choose what you wanted and didn't just have to have a fry up. I had the Yorkshire breakfast on the first morning and a sausage, bacon & egg bap on the second morning. You also have a breakfast bar with cereals, fruit, yoghurt, pastries, juices etc which is help yourself. Overall, it was a thoroughly lovely weekend with the added bonus of the sun coming out! We'll definitely be back to stay again. Thank you to all the staff at The Waggon and Horses.
