This an excellent hotel. We booked a twin bed room, on arrival we were given the keys, went in the room to find we had a double bed! I came with my brother and the thought of sharing a bed with him was petrifying!😂. So back to reception and that’s when Super Receptionist Linzi sprung into action. 😀. Within 20 minutes we had a twin room 😀. Now the hotel is spotless, our room has been refurbished to a high standard as is the whole hotel. Comfortable beds large tv, plenty of electric sockets with usb ports. Excellent powerful shower you wouldn’t want to get out of! Every day our room was stocked up with coffee biscuits etc,oh and an heated towel rail was a nice touch. Breakfast was lovely. Excellent choice, you can have full english, porridge, omelette, cereal, toast, fruit salad, croissants and more in a beautiful conservatory. Evening meals were excellent too. All the staff were lovely and friendly. If you are looking for a hotel in the Lake District that’s great value put this on your short list, I don’t think you will be disappointed. For reference the hotel is around 20 minutes away by car from Keswick. Oh and if you are worried about parking, there’s plenty of on site parking.

Three members of my family booked 2 rooms. We had previously stayed for one night last year on the journey home from Scotland, we enjoyed the stay so booked 3 nights this year to explore some of the Lake District. The hotel is in a good location, plenty of free parking, The rooms were good. We ate in the resturant every evening and enjoyed the food. Breakfast was extra and we opted for this which was also good. The staff are excellent happy to help and friendly. There is a nice laid back vibe about the hotel. There are some little pods out the back where you can sit and enjoy a drink. All in all a very pleasent stay with no complaints, Would return,

There was nothing to dislike. My only advice would be around accessiblity as there are stairs to most of the rooms so if you have any problems please request a room on the lower floor.

Staff was overall friendly and helpful. Our room was great, modern, beautiful and very comfortable. Everything was tidy, clean and in perfect condition which we rarely experience in hotels these days. We had enough parking space and it was easy to find the place. The breakfast was based on self-service and buffet and it worked very well, it was also lovely.

We booked a dinner table but still waited over 45 mins to get the table. We had to wait in the bar area unnecessarily, very clearly there were enough tables for new guests, but for some reason, we were still forced to wait that long. We were so hungry, it was a late booking and didn't make any sense. The food/drink was overpriced, although, great and tasty what we finally ordered, but the portion wasn't enough for an adult man (or even for my partner) and for the money we paid, I could have received a lot more elsewhere

Clearly the owners are spending money on upgrading the hotel which is good although there are still one or two things which require attention. When I asked for more milk, see the point below, one of the staff gave me a small jug of milk which was an excellent response to my request. Very good.

We had to ask for extra milk for the tea and coffee which were supplied in the room. These little containers of milk which hotels provide are always far too small so you require three or four of them for a decent cup of tea or coffee. This is a general point that applies to the vast majority of hotels, not just The Melbreak, but I find it irritating.

The conservatory was lovely. Such a nice little place to go for a few drinks in the evening. The breakfast area was laid out lovely with nice views of the mountains. Bar staff and lady who sat us to our table for breakfast really attentive and kind.

The let down for this hotel is the rooms. Its a shame but it is. The beds are extremely firm and I woke up with back pain. Only one pillow and couldn't seem to find a second anywhere else. Really struggled to sleep. Noise was the other issue. Could hear absolutely everything from all directions. Heard number 22 getting it on, multiple times god bless the lady, king arthur himself couldnt pull that lad out of his mrs. Partner woken up just after 6am by people coming up and down the corridor. Someone was outside our window early hours as if they were moving something around. Overall a nice hotel barring the room itself.

It was newly decorated room - with modern furnishings. The bar area was lovely.

The floor above me was VERY noisy on the Saturday night - seemed there were several guests laughing / chatting in a one room until around midnight. I found that there was no shelf in the bathroom - for toothbrushes - toiletries etc…. I had to put the toilet seat down to place my make up bag on there! They’d provided a special close-up mirror with light in the bathroom which was brilliant - but the items I needed to use at that mirror had no place to be put!

The food was excellent, the staff were lovely and friendly. The room was clean and quiet. The garden was also clean and tidy with posh little gazebo tents to sit in to get out of sun. The car park was plenty big enough and tucked round the back so motorcycles were safe.

The shower could have been a little bigger although this is a very minor thing. The hotel is not within walking distance to a town although never felt we needed to leave the hotel as we had dinner and drinks at the hotel.

Nice location and very nice decor. The gardens looked lovely although the weather wasn’t good enough to be able to utilise them. The room was very clean and tidy. The older lady who served us both mornings at breakfast was lovely, friendly, helpful and very attentive. The cooked breakfast was excellent with lots of choice. Nice atmosphere in the lounge / bar area. Disability access was good. Adequate parking spaces. Coffee cake was yummy!

The view from this superior double wasn’t good at all, but we were on the ground floor due to a member of our party having limited mobility. The bar tender added sparkly water / soda to our drinks instead of lemonade. Another guest caused the fire alarm to go off during the night and that was when we discovered there was no hotel staff member on site, although they were quick to attend to the incident (10-15 mins) and dealt with it rapidly.

The location is good to access the lakes. The hotel is very nice. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The breakfast is lovely, and the room is very nice. This was my second stay - there will be a third.

It was a hot weekend. There isn't aircon in the room. There is a fan in the room, and I also brought a fan from home, but this wasn't enough. It was still extremely hot in the room. My girlfriend and I struggled to get the rest we needed due to the heat.

Perfect location for our needs. Always clean. Staff (especially Judith) are amazing.

Bit of a mix up as phoned as directed to book a ground floor twin but when we got there the classic king size rooms even though classed as ground floor are actually up half a dozen stairs. Easily and quickly rectified but had to pay extra to ‘upgrade’ to ground floor. Not a big problem but it’s not clear on booking.com.. or I missed it.
