Very good value for money and generally friendly staff. The pool, hot tub and sauna were also very nice and the hotel was in a great location..

The waitress was quite snotty at breakfast and unaccomadating when we asked if we could swap a couple of items on our full English breakfast with other items on the menu. Breakfast was included with the room rate, so it wasn't going to change the price, the breakfast room was empty so the chef wasnt really busy, and all items were on the menu anyway, so we weren't asking for much. She commented on how she would ask, but the chef wouldn't be happy with her.

We booked a room with an en suit and fully filed our expectations. It was large with brilliant views over mountains and hotel gardens. We read reviews that the hotel is outdated and going through renovation, so it was quite worrying that it maybe affect our stay but it wasn't. We can't say how others rooms looks but our was very stylish and well equipped, there was safe locker, fridge, two hairdryers ( one in bathroom and other one in dresser drawer ) socket with USB ports ( next to kettle ), iron and ironing board, kettle etc. . We loved our room especially for big and very comfortable bed and views. Yes there signs of renovation taking place like new carpets etc. but you won't be bothered about DIY team as they working unnoticeable and we have seen just one closed area where DIY materials were kept but it was out of customer eyes and way. Surprisingly there was absolutely zero dust which usually is part of these kind of jobs so all that added together shows how professional team is working there. Swimming pool and area is very clean in decent size pool and large jacuzzi fits easily nine people , wet sauna large and not over steamed , we like the fact that pool was well set and there was chlorine level not to exceed. Unfortunately we can say nothing about dry sauna as it was through renovation and was close 😕 but looks nice inside anyway. Breakfast - you can eat it at a restaurant or order to room , we like a fact that continental breakfast desks was prepared for own use and hot one was ordered by waiter, food was great 👍 Pub , it's doesn't have victorian age charm as someone was write in review but is small cozy nice and for them which like outdoors, table are there too so yes - we like it and it looks that others too. Large chose of alcohol.

Breakfast was excellent and so was dinner all he staff where very friendly and helpful and worked very hard the rooms where lovely and done up well. Very peaceful surrounding .Bus right outside the hotel which is a bonus if you do not want to drive

If you only want a drink you have to walk through the restaurant where people are eating to get one. At the bar that is where you had to check in if you had booked a table for food quite confusing. There should be podium at the front of the restaurant where you can be seated to your table and then you can order a drink with the waitress and they can cross you off the list. When you have ordered your food the waitresses should remove the menu then they will know that food has been ordered, as there was confusion who had been served and who had not. They need table numbers actually on the tables

Friendly staff, Fabulous location, refurbishment underway is working well. Lovely spacious room, gorgeous topper topped comfy beds, super efficient heating in room. Generous biscuit, tea and coffee offering in room. Lovely newly fitted shower room. Handy leisure facilities for wet days! Tasty old school cooked to order breakfasts with lots of choice and quiet dining room with well spaced out tables and a well priced dinner menu of tempting options. Comfy sitting room with a fire for late night chats and lazy afternoons.

Shoe covers for 'pool mum & dads' watching kids. Beds need wallboards/ headboards to protect the new wallpaper and also position of beds needs to be away from head height and to the side over tables...we just moved the beds! Small note...dust inside lamp shades and all light bulbs should be checked daily.

Lovely hotel in a fabulous area. Comfortable room, fabulous facilities. We liked the decor and the layout. We liked the bar and the breakfast areas. Incredibly dog friendly with specific areas to breakfast if you had a dog with you. However plenty of dog free zones for those that don't!

Nothing to stop us going back! The dog fee, whilst normal to expect, was quite considerable. We usually pay £10-15 extra but here £30 per dog per night. Yet housekeeping don't clean the room every day so that was a bit steep we felt. Maybe dog owners have been abusing the hotel facilities in order to trigger such a high charge. However we would be prepared for future reservations.

The family room was great - big, bright, comfy beds, big bathroom with bath, fridge. It had new carpet and lovely sofas. The hotel is undergoing renovations, but it didn't negatively affect our stay. In fact the workmen were very nice and the main man of the facilities team, Robin, even helped us charge up our car battery when it was dead (thank you so much Robin!). Lovely small pool (big enough to swim some lengths in) with hot tub, sauna, steam room. My husband is picky about gyms and said this one has enough to do a decent workout. Breakfast was great. Dinner was good - but portions could be bigger for the cost. Overall a very good stay and would stay again.

Dinner portions could be bigger. Pool could be slightly warmer but for people swimming lengths it is fine.

We had a lovely suitę which was very comfortable and spacious. The pool was a good size and we went mid afternoon and more or less had it to ourselves. The sauna and jacuzzi were lovely. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times and the food was excellent although not a huge choice. Breakfast was excellent. Friendly staff.

Just small niggles. Shampoo and shower gel provided but no body lotion. Lots of different jams at breakfast but no marmalade. Room was serviced but bed not made. Cleaners not so friendly.

Staff friendliness was to a high standard all round, but even more so in the bar/restaurant, they really made our experience run as smoothly as possible. The cleanliness of the room was to a very high standard. The hotel may be a little outdated, but it kind of suits this theme, and the views are spectacular. There is a wildlife park 10 minutes walk away and a town which is maybe 40-45 minute walk. All in all, a pleasant experience and would recommend

The only thing I didn't like was how thin the pillows were, I like big thick pillows. Other than that I can't really say anything else.

Pool, gym, Sauna. Dog friendly. Helpful professional staff. Breakfast was perfect, lots of continental choices and first morning additional hot food was cooked to order, the second morning, served from a buffet cart, it was hot and well presented. Very attentive staff who answered all our questions, met our needs as a family with a dog. Lots of wildlife in the well kept gardens, even a hare sauntering around the car park!

There could have been nuts/seeds to go with oats and yoghurts at breakfast. Some aspects of the hotel were a little outdated but you could see further renovations are under way.

Everything was wonderful - location, room, restaurant, steam room, pool, sauna. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating. Very peaceful setting. We would definitely return!

Would have liked the pool, steam room and sauna to have stayed open later than 8pm. After a day of sightseeing and hiking, it was a rush to get back to and enjoy. Also, there is some construction going on as they are expanding. Even so, it was totally worth staying there. It didn't inconvenience us at all.
