The sevice was great. The staff was very helpful. The building has character. The location is great. To have the bar and restaurant inside is very convenient. It was very quiet. The luggage was offered to be carried upstairs for me without having to ask. There was always free bottled water in the room which was replenished every day. My room was made every day and the used towels replaced. The shower was small but the shower head and the flow of water was great.

The food was ok but we went out for meals most of the time. The heating system wasn't on. The oil heater was good for the bathroom but the extra fan heater I got was noisy. The stairs are narrow.

As we had our little partially blind Lhasa Apso with us we opted for a pod in the grounds of the hotel. These pods are recently built and very relaxing to stay in . Our little Missy loved it as it was very quiet. The staff were amazing with her too. I can’t say thank you often enough for the welcome we received, we were spoiled. We were visiting family in the area and decided to stay another night which was arranged with no problem at all. Thank you all for making our stay so pleasant, and that’s a Woof woof from Missy too. I would highly recommend any dog owner to consider this Hotel.

Wi-Fi in the area is not the best, totally not the hotels fault, but it was relaxing without phones and emails.. Even the weather was good for us, and that’s a big bonus.

The Inn is a cosy small hotel, well positioned in the quiet and historic village of Charlestown. There's a pleasant five minute sea-front drive through nearby Limekilns to join the main A985 with easy links to the Forth crossing and the motorway network. The Inn is very tastefully and comfortably furnished in the public areas and in the bedrooms. The staff went out of their way to feed us when we arrived late, after the kitchen had closed. The breakfast is an excellent help-yourself buffet of good food, well cooked and nicely presented. They have a good dinner menu - and they all made a great fuss of the dog!

My only tiny niggle: The shower control of smooth polished chrome is quite impossible to turn with soapy hands.

This place is a hidden gem 💎 situated in a quiet village with amazing views. The staff here are very professional and greet you with a welcoming smile, very helpful and attentive to your needs. We booked the glamping pod very clean and cosy. A very great feature for a hotel to have, it was a peaceful night's sleep no noise or traffic to disturb you. The pod had everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The restaurant was also great. The food was delicious, and the service was super fast, although they had a function on and busy. The credit goes to the staff and owner of this hotel, who made our stay great. I highly recommend this hotel and will be returning in the near future. Thank you 😊

There was nothing to dislike.

This is our second stay and it was a comfortable stay. We enjoyed a full Scottish breakfast both days and ate in the restaurant one of the evenings, the food is classic pub food with no frills and the portions were huge. Rooms were warm and comfortable and we had a little balcony overlooking the Firth of Forth. The hotel is extremely dog friendly which is always a bonus for us.

The hotel is now starting to show signs of wear, especially in bathrooms and paintwork around skirtings and woodwork. Although the cleaning standards are clearly very good, there is some perished grouting\ sealant and chipped paintwork that could be improved upon.

All the staff we came across where friendly and very helpful. This hotel is very dog friendly and made a fuss of our wee pug, the location was perfect for what we were looking for, a peaceful break next to the shore. We had dinner and this was good pub grub and breakfast was cooked to order, really good. Plenty of free parking. If looking for a calm, peaceful break this hotel is perfect.

There wasn't a lot not to like, however just an observation was there was no atmosphere in the bar area where we ate. A little bit of background music would have been nice, perhaps radio on in the morning.

The warm welcome at reception foretold this would be a pleasant stay. A comfy bed in a good sized, stylish room, with a smart ensuite bathroom. Excellent coffee and tea facilities in the room enhanced with quality cookies! The room was very clean, the towels were fresh and plentiful The river views from the hotel are magnificent all the way down stream to the 3 bridges and south, across the river to the Pentland hills. Breakfast was a buffet, however, it was fresh throughout the extended breakfast period. At dinner, guests were greeted by a glorious wood burner. I will be back!

I really can't think of anything.

Staff were friendly and it was in a beautiful location.

The room was cold despite asking a member of staff to put the heat on. However, there was a little mobile oil radiator which took the nip out of the air. The hotel was a little bit far out for what I needed but the location was gorgeous. Very close to a beautiful village harbour looking out into the Forth river. The windows were full of condensation as well and I’m not sure if the owners are allowed to fit double glazing with the hotel being in the location it is and maybe being old itself but this would stop the condensation and keep the rooms warmer. Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable stay and I would definitely go back.

breakfast had a good variety of items to choose from and was very tasty. The restaurant was very welcoming and accommodating of our 3 dogs and the food there was delicious. The cabin was cosy and the water nice and hot, just enough room in there for 3 medium crates for the dogs. The bed was very comfortable.

The entrance could have done with a mat as you went into the cabin to absorb any rainwater and dirt - I did talk to to the owners and they happily provided a large towel to sort the issue and are planning on put mats in place.

Booking was easy. I was able to check-in earlier than I had indicated on the request form. The hotel is in an ideal location, and it was warm and cosy inside. I was greeted warmly on arrival, and all personnel were exceptionally friendly towards me and my dog throughout my short stay. My room was extremely clean and suitably presented. I will definitely return for another stay in the future, as I’d like to explore the area a bit more.

As I was travelling alone with my dog, the buffet breakfast layout was slightly awkward for the “help yourself” approach.
