Location was great - 2 blocks from the Zocalo. Street was mostly quiet, though there was a business across the street with occasional blaring rock music. We all loved the breakfast and the coffee urn that appeared at 7:30 every morning. The breakfast waiter, Jose, was always pleasant and efficient. Courtyard of the hotel is beautiful, especially at night - great, quiet place to hang out and maybe enjoy a beer from the sleepy bar. If we return to Oaxaca, we might consider staying North a bit to be closer to museums and touristy restaurants, but I'd also be happy to stay at the Casona again.

We only stayed briefly but the hotel was good. The obvious selling point is a very central location at a reasonable price, but the standard of the hotel is also very respectable. Beds were nice, Wi-Fi was fine, showers were excellent. Guy at the bar was very personable too. They also sorted us out with a prompt taxi for an early morning flight.

No big qualms. They gave us the wrong room initially but promptly rectified it when it was pointed out. The drains smelt a bit odd at one point too but nothing crazy.

The location is totally excellent—only one block from the zocalo, the main square of Oaxaca. The hotel staff was quite helpful. They arranged several private tours with a delightful English-speaking driver to archeological sites and villages noted for their artisans. They translated for us when needed and recommended delicious restaurants. The hotel’s courtyard is the perfect location for breakfast; and in the evening it become a relaxing spot to chat with other guests, enjoy a drink, and plan the next day’s activities. The bartender makes the BEST margarita ever!

Since the hotel is so near the center of town, it does tend to be noisy until about eleven o’clock or so at night. That didn’t bother us much because the thick velvet drapes helped to block the noise. Also, one day there was a problem with the plumbing, but the situation was repaired while we were out that morning.

Staff is incredibly helpful and kind. The breakfast was so good that I would return to eat here even if I wasn't staying at the hotel (and for a great price, too). Gorgeous interior when you walk into the hotel, and the rooms are nice enough for the price. Very quiet hotel that I was shocked more people didn't stay here that weekend since it's such a steal. There's also a bar conveniently located on the first floor in case you want to grab a quick drink or sample some mezcal.

We only had one issue which prevented me from rating this a perfect 10/10. Our shower would not drain the water completely, and each day we had to ask the front desk to send someone up to mop the water so we weren't standing in a little bit of shower water from a previous day. A worker mentioned it may have been water from the air conditioner dripping into the shower, but either way it was an inconvenience that wasn't fully resolved during our stay. Still an overall enjoyable stay and I highly recommend Hotel Casona Oaxaca!

The property is in an amazing location. Everything is close by and they offer tours at reception so you don’t have to go out and find them. The breakfast was amazing so I recommend you get it with your stay. The bartender Juan was very nice, he was able to suggest places to visit and the drinks were amazing ! I really recommend staying in this place . We stayed for 7 days !

Overall was nice. The location was perfect, pretty much on the edge of the main tourist area but still was not noisy even though our room window was on the street (some rooms have windows on the courtyard). Staff were great, especially the breakfast server, who was always so friendly and cheerful. Not all of the staff spoke English so probably something to keep in mind.

The bathroom was too small, about enough room for a toothbrush and toothpaste. Shower was full size though, actually about the same size as the rest of the bathroom. The "balcony" was really just a glorified ledge, though it wasn't anyplace that you'd want to sit out on anyway.

A nice old building fairly well maintained in an excellent location in the old Town. Very close to the square in Centro. Lots of markets and restaurants in walking distance. The rooms are basic but very clean. The breakfast is good for the prices they charge. Small bar in the hotel great for a night cap.

The beds were very hard and not very comfortable.

All is very much meeting expectations, definitely recommend it! Staff always smiling makes the whole experience much better.

This is a general comment for Oaxaca, not hotel specific, hotel is excellent. Be aware of mosquitoes. As long as you keep A/C on, they won’t bother you.. but I wouldn’t recommend sleeping windows open 🥲

the location is excellent! only a few steps from the Zocalo and other main areas. The afternoon receptionist Eli and Jose the waiter were part of our experience at the hotel. They did the best to make us feel welcome. They are excellent employees. For sure we will be back to the hotel!

overall I like the property.

Very convenient location. Large room with door opening to street. I had fruit and juice for breakfast. Yogurt came with it. Maid service was great. Didn't have to leave your room early in order to get it cleaned. Front desk people assisted me with taxis, etc. They were very good.

Couldn't find any English TV channels.
