Our recent stay at this hotel in the city center left us with mixed feelings. While the location was undoubtedly great, being in the heart of everything and a mere 5 minutes from the Zócalo, some aspects fell short of expectations. The hotel itself is clean and aesthetically pleasing, featuring a beautiful terrace. In conclusion, while the hotel has its positive aspects, there are notable drawbacks, including the room location, noise levels, and inconsistent friendliness of the staff. Considering the price, we believe there are better options available in the city center.
Our stay in a superior room adjacent to the employee storage area fell short of expectations, particularly given the amount we paid. The persistent noise from the ground floor location continued until midnight, significantly affecting our overall comfort. A drawback was the uncertainty surrounding the items for sale in the room, leading to confusion regarding what was included in our stay. Moreover, the lack of friendliness from the majority of staff members post-check-in was disappointing. The only exception was the gentleman responsible for maintaining the hotel's cleanliness, who appeared genuinely friendly. Furthermore, there was constant chatter and loud noise emanating from the employee storage room throughout the morning and most of the day.

Beautiful, comfortable small hotel close to the Zocolo. The staff is friendly, helpful and professional. They carried our bags up and down the stairs, called taxis and took care of all of our needs. The hotel surrounds a beautiful courtyard where you can order a drink or a meal and relax and listen to the calls of caged birds. We had breakfast there every morning, a delicious and a wonderful convenience. This parador has a charming, traditional feel.
The hotel is on Calle Indepencia, a busy, noisy main street. The rooms face the courtyard, so rooms are quite but you can hear trucks from the courtyard and the restaurant. Not a major concern, just mentioning if for those who seek 100% quite. Or course Oaxaca is a noisy, bustling city so best to just to roll with it!

I paid for the included breakfast, and it was fantastic. Definitely spring for the pan dulce option, which I believe is 25 pesos, well worth it. Also, the rooftop terrace is amazing and when I was there (late March) I had the whole thing to myself.
Honestly I was happy with everything. I stayed on one of the inner-facing rooms on the third floor, and I had a great sleep. However, I can imagine that if you were a light sleeper, any room facing the street, especially on the first or second floor, could possibly be loud due to street noise. But this is a nitpick, I did not have that problem.

Oaxaca City is hard to describe really. It's like this Spanish-style Mexican tourist town where you "walk and look at things" and honestly it's not boring. This hotel is like a magical oasis. Perched almost opposite the main square, it couldn't be in a better location. When we arrived, they took our car keys and whisked the car away. The entry foyer is almost colonial with birdcages and palms. It's absolutely beautiful. I loved the vibe of the place. The only negative is that it said there was a "patio" with my room but there was no patio. There are rooms with a patio so I think this is a booking.com problem. As with all Mexican type hotels, the windows are "looking in" to the inner courtyard corridor so it's a little dark in the room but honestly it didn't really matter. They have made an effort to double glaze for noise. The room is lovely. The bed was comfy.
You cannot say anything because it's so lovely here. It's close to bars and shops and the staff are so helpful. The hotel food is amazing. I didn't like the things in the room "for sale" because I wasn't sure what I could "use" and what I "couldn't use" for free but, whatever stupid detail.

Excellent restaurant, Spanish colonial decor, each room is unique, close to the zocalo and many restaurants, art galleries. Friendly staff. Also loved the birds in the cages. Loved that it has only a few rooms with a very upscale boutique feel, despite its affordability. Walkability score is off the charts! Finally, liked the idea that we could book tours at the front desk and be picked up from the hotel.
The water was often lukewarm when taking showers.

Overall, we had a very nice stay at the Parador San Miguel. We loved the romantic historic architecture and the location was perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. The jacuzzi tubs were very slippery when wet. The bellman should recommend using the bath mat as well as signage that encourages using the bath mat when taking a shower. Our suite during our first 3 day stay was a good size and the view of the courtyard from the windows was very pleasant. However, I was disappointed that there was no window in the suite when we were put in a suite on the ground floor when we returned for a one night stay after visiting Puerto Escondido.

Location and attention of the staff
Room was a bit small for two ppl on two double beds but everything else was superb. At check-in I found odd they asked again for the same info on the electronic form and after a long flight was getting to my nerves all the policy reciting of the employee

This hotel was just what we were looking for. Close to the Zocalo, many great restaurants, within walking distance of popular tourist sights like the old cathedral, garden, markets, etc. Our room (a suite with king bed) was well-decorated and spacious. The bathroom was well-equipped. Everything was very clean. Drinking water was supplied every day. The staff made us feel at home. We ate breakfast there every morning and one dinner and one lunch in the hotel restaurant, which was convenient and the food was surprisingly good.
Not really a complaint, just info... because we signed up (and paid) for breakfast, the standard offering (full American breakfast) got a little old. However, it is possible to modify what you get...you may have to pay more for some things. Just for example, the standard American breakfast includes eggs, a meat, rather unexciting dry-ish French bread slices, diced fruit, fresh orange juice and a small amount of refried beans. You can request tortillas as a free replacement for the bread and make tacos!

Very central location but was not noisy at all which was nice. The room was spacious and good value. Reception was helpful in organising transport and it felt secure on the premise.
Toilet flush was weak and the hotel felt transactional as small things like basic amenities in the room was at a fee. Warning signs in the bathroom about dirtying towels would be charged just seemed unnecessarily cold upfront. WiFi was quite weak.

Great location, only a couple blocks from the main plaza. Beautifully decorated boutique hotel. Excellent service throughout the hotel, all the staff was very nice. Hilario, our waiter, who works very hard was especially attentive on providing great service. The hotel was very clean and the restaurant is pretty good. We loved waking up with the birds at the courtyard singing throughout the day. If we return to Oaxaca we will definitely stay there again.
We had some problems with the toilet clogging, but it was fixed right away. The bed was a little hard, but the pillows were great. Our room was on the third floor, and because there is no elevator, it was a little hard going up from a long day. Although our room was quiet on the third floor, the second floor would have been much better because of the stairs.
