Fabulous central location. Close to downtown Manhattan with good subway connections. Lobby area and reception very 1920s, with iconic art deco chandeliers and decor. Very comfortable pillows and beds. Friendly staff in Trattoria Bianca restaurant with tasty food and good selection of dishes. Fridge in room was a good size and useful for chilling drinks etc. Constant hot water and powerful shower. Business centre was useful for printing off boarding passes etc.and open 24-7.

Reception staff were rather frosty and not very welcoming. Room was smaller than i expected and carpet dated and a little worn. We had asked for a refurbished room so decor was fine...but nothing special. To leave bags, we were charged $5per item, which i thought was excessive. Had expected more for the price, but maybe i am not used to New York.

Perfect if you want to take the train on the next day.

They charge the "deposit to secure the room" and charge on the front desk at the moment of the check in. They kept both payments, and they dont respond to the emails asking about the reimbursement. When in the front desk, they blame the "deposit card" but theres nothing wrong with the card, the proof is they were able to charge it on teh first place.

Location, next to subway and train stations Easy to walk to points of interest

Upon entering I was surprised with an additional tax charge and other costs that I was not informed when I made the reservation and payment. a total of 20% additional

The location is SUPREME, and the hotel has an amazing story - its HISTORIC! It’s the iconic New Yorker, and has seen so much NYC history. It’s also across the street from Madison Square Garden and next to Penn Station.

I could not adjust our room’s thermostat. It was quite chilly during our stay, and I could not control the climate of our room.

Location, price, hotel decor

The lack of comunicacion and attitude of the lady sitting at the info/tour table by the front desk. Instead of explaining a situation politely, she pointed her name tag at me and said that she didn't work on storage.

The New Yorker Hotel exceeded our expectations. As we were staying for 1 week, the lady at reception ensured that we had a room with a really good view. We were given a corner room on the 35th floor with 2 windows, one looking onto the Hudson River and the other looking onto the Midtown Skyscrapers. To see the lights of the city at night from our room was spectacular. The room was clean, very comfortable and we had a large closet to store our suitcases and hang our clothes. The bathroom was a very generous size with a bath/shower. We had breakfast in the TickTock diner below the hotel which was reasonably priced and the food quality was very good. The location of the hotel is very convenient to navigate around New York. The Edge Observatory/Hudson Yards and Times Square are all within walking distance. We bought a 1 week metro card and discovered the city mostly by subway. There are subway stations just outside of the hotel. We would be very happy to stay here again. Thank you!

The hallways in the hotel could do with a coat of fresh paint but that is something very minor. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

The New Yorker is a lovely art deco hotel with some interesting history. The staff were excellent and the room was great as a room. The bed was incredibly comfortable and a nice size for my partner and myself. There were plenty of pillows and the duvet was nice and warm. The bathroom had a bath with a shower, which had excellent pressure, but the temperature was not stable and would change frequently as we showered. There was a wardrobe and chest of drawers, which provided plenty of space for both our clothes. There was a safe, iron and ironing board. There was no kettle, tea or coffee making facilities. The room itself wasn't massive, but it wasn't hugely cramped either. The hotel had several eating places, and we used the Tick Tock Diner that was open 24/7, and we would highly recommend it. The hotel was right next to Penn Station and if you are happy to walk, not far from the Empire State Building and Macy's.

Tea & coffee making facilities in the room

Everyone , please attention … We stayed in the hotel 5 nights . I’ll describe the experience with 6 words - the best hotel in New York ! First of all I would like to thank Afroza that take care of us and help us with all of our requests with a huge smile and warm welcome . Second , I would like to say that the room was amazing , big , beautiful and with all the things that we need . The house keeping was amazing and all the crew as well . I would like to thank Elijah as well who helped us with our check out request and made our honeymoon much better ! The location was amazing , you have metro(subway) station next to the hotel that calls 34St - Penn Station , That includes the next lines : A,C,E ; Those lines are the best line all over the city in my opinion … you can reach all the main sites : E line will takes you to World Trade Center / Airtrain to JFK for example . So long story short , amazing hotel .

Location is perfect. Got sweet-talked into upgrading when we arrived from lovely reception guy and room was spacious, comfortable, with extra bathroom, perfect for mother and adult daughter sharing. Being so close to Penn Station is a definite plus for travelling from either Newark or JFK. Having Tick Tock Diner on site is also a plus, after a day pounding the Manhattan streets (we averaged 12 miles walking each day) if our feet were too sore, we didn't have to go far to find food.

Price is daylight robbery, especially with amenity charge added on at check-out (for amenities we didn't use other than WiFi, ie business centre/fitness suite) If I'd realised at the time, I probably would have declined the upgrade, ended up paying an extra $50/night

+ great location, very central, close to subway stations, easy to navigate throughout the city from there. The different restaurants/diners within the hotel offer good options to have a quick bite anytime of day/night. + room was clean, accurate to pictures, comfortable as expected including all mentioned furniture and amenities. Nice view. I booked a simple 1 queen-bed room, but I was given an upgraded two double-bed room instead. This was fine as I was travelling alone (however, if you are travelling as a couple and would rather sleep in the same bed, you may check with front desk upon check-in). + hotel is overall very good, nice Art Déco style. Fitness center is massive and very well equipped, not busy (just 2 ppl there when I was). I was on 19th fl. (on 40). 10 elevators divided in 2 groups of 5 for each half of the building, which means I never had to wait much to use them. + overall great value for money.

- a little fridge and/or electric kettle with some coffee would have been welcome. - the bathroom was perfectly functional. However, it may look a little oldish or outdated to some people. - WiFi was working fine, but a bit slow, as I struggled having proper video calls from it. - the very central Manhattan location means that the traffic noise is persistent. I am personally very comfortable with it, but it may be good you are aware of it depending on your tolerance to noise. Overall, we can hear the distant traffic rumble noise and honks through the window from 7am to 1am, nothing worse than the usual NYC/big city boulevard ambience though.
