This was our 5th stay , we use use it to break our journey when we holiday on the North West Coast. It is very dog friendly. The position is stunning and we always have a Captain's room with a balcony, they are large and comfortable. Very clean.

Sadly we have noticed a change since covid particularly in the catering. Breakfast choices used to be varied and the choices were amazing. Now it's a help yourself buffet , limited cereal, fruit and juices. Stone cold plates for hot food is poor. The seafood restaurant does not offer that much in the way of seafood except what you could probably get in a non seafood restaurant.

A good bar and restaurant. Staff and the service was great at all times. Made good use of the pool and jacuzzi.

A dog friendly hotel. But no dog waste bins around the hotel grounds.

Really idyllic location with stunning views. Couldn’t have picked a better spot for our trip. Used the pool and spa one night also and was great! The restaurant and bar area (indoor and outdoor) had amazing views of the loch also. I would definitely recommend this place!

More for awareness, but there’s very limited options for food in the area. We booked dinner at the hotel every night which was pretty good. At some stage the hotel might was to do an upgrade of their bathrooms but nothing to complain about, we really enjoyed our stay and were happy with our choice

The staff were all very friendly. The manager at reception was very helpful for our unexpected late arrival. The beds were very comfortable and we had a good night sleep. The hot tub and pool are kept warm which was wonderful after our long hike up a mountain. Really good views from our room. We hope to be back some day.

The tea and coffee at breakfast are not great. Would be good to offer guests a coffee machine to make their own and the tea was served very weak, we couldn't actually taste any tea. We ended up going out for coffee every day. However the food at breakfast was great! An excellent choice of options and cooked well.

The location was beautiful, with stunning views from the bedrooms. The staff were excellent with no request or question too much trouble. Unlike so many hotels, the Hollytree has a sizable car park with plenty of space for all the guests. The restaurant's starters and main courses were excellent and well presented. However, the selection of deserts were mainly the same old, tired choices of sticky toffee pudding, brownies and cheesecake.

The room was spacious and comfortable but the decor was tired and needed redecoration. While the food was mainly excellent the selection of deserts contained the usual sticky toffee pudding, brownies and cheesecake. The restaurant was overpriced.

The food was outstanding, produce presentation portions selection cooking all excellent. The atmosphere was very welcoming and all staff that we met were helpful polite and friendly, from the receptionists, waiter staff, housekeeping, bar staff they were all excellent and a young team too which dispels the myth of younger generations lacking professionalism

The family that were above us were quite noisy, to be fair it was school holidays and kids need to play and have fun. This was nothing to do with the hotel or staff! On our next visit we will just book the too floor

Location, view, staff, swimming pool & jacuzzi, evening meal, comfortable bed & nice shower

When I booked the room I expected a balcony - I didn’t get one! The breakfast - sausages & bacon were not nice and and the bread was thin and cheap… when paying over £250 per night I believe you should get breakfast served to you by order - with good quality produce. We were disappointed as that’s the one thing I look forward to when staying away. We didn’t even eat breakfast the second day.

Easy to find and close to the Glenfinnan and Glencoe areas and attractions of the West Highlands which accounts for the cost of the rooms. The hotel sits on Loch Linnhe and provides a gorgeous view of the highlands and Ben Nevis. There’s a working boat slip that is not busy. There’s a green space for the dogs to run. Lots of parking. There is a pool, but we didn’t use it. The hotel is very family-oriented and we don’t have kids so we left the pool to the families. We stayed in the Captain's King Room with Sea View. It was large with king bed, two comfortable chairs, a coffee table, desk, and night stands. The balcony included a table and chairs and overlooked the loch—excellent view. The bathroom was large with a tub and separate shower and a big shelf for our personal toiletries. No robes provided. A kettle was provided along with teas and instant coffee and biscuits. They don’t provide a daily housekeeping service but did upon requested. Though there was a large crowd enjoying the outdoor seating below us at the bar, when we closed the sliding door to the balcony we couldn’t hear the other guests at all—the sound proofing for the hotel was that good! The restaurant was large as well as the bar. The bar also had outdoor seating. The included breakfast was a buffet of cold cereals and Scottish breakfast which allowed us to pick and chose from the Scottish breakfast instead of being given the whole huge thing! The staff in the hotel and restaurant very friendly and attentive.

There’s limited access to the loch beach from the hotel and no place to go for a walk directly from the hotel since it is on the major road. Despite the amazing daytime view, this is not a dark sky hotel. They keep a flood light on the boat slip (I’m guessing for safety) and some flood lights at the beach house area too. This was annoying since we were hoping to see the Northern Lights from there. The taste of the breakfast was only fair since it was sitting out in the hot plates even though we got there as soon as they started serving. We chose not to eat other meals there.

We'd got room 12 at the groundfloor with a little terrace with a fantastic view to the bay. It was one of the nicest place as ever we were staying. The room itself was quite big, even at the beginning we had 2 extra beds. The bed was very comfortable. The staff is very friendly, especially Madeleine who was everywhere and took special care on the guests. By surprise we'd met Hungarian / Hungarian speaking people in the restaurant. The breakfast is a little bit flat, but if someone likes the typical English breakfast, it doesn't matter. The quality of the foods in the restaurant is okay. The birds were very tame - especially a robin and some sparrows. The robin just entered into the room for some crumbs!

The wi-fi was very busy, we weren't able to connect even with two smartphones, only one.

The hotel’s location right on the banks of Loch Lihnne makes for some amazing views. We paid a bit extra to get one of the bigger rooms and it was well worth the money: spacious room with an extra large bed, large bathroom with a roomy and strong shower and a decent sized bath, and a small sitting area that can overlook the water. And whilst we couldn’t use it much because of the almost non-stop rain, the balcony was great to have, again overlooking the water. We liked the fact that there was no room service during our stay but you could easily get top-ups for coffee etc, which meant you don’t constantly have to rush to vacate the room for Housekeeping.

For us, the slight disappointment was the food. Of everything we ate, the mussels and the brownie were good, the rest was ‘fine’ but nothing special. The fish, whilst a large portion, was served with skinny fries and salad (not chips and peas or mushy peas, as it should be.) What a shame. Also, if like us, you are child-free, it is worth knowing there are no adult-only times for the swimming pool and hot tub. We really struggled to find a time when the pool wasn’t full of shrieking kids, which is a shame as it is a decent sized for a hotel pool.
