A genuine medieval Venetian hotel, where necessary combined with modern architecture and furnishings. All the staff were very kind and helpful. We were given a room in the middle of the building (behind the reception) based on our reservation and on seeing it on the spot, we were given another one immediately on request. The hotel and our room were very clean (looking under the bed for stuff to roll under, no dust bunnies there either). All services in the room worked well, including the safe. Breakfast for us was plentiful and varied (cereals, yoghurt, juice, tea, coffee, salami, cheese, butter, jam, scrambled eggs, baked ham, fruit, cakes, pastries). What we ran out of was made up. Due to the size of the "restaurant", there are three options for breakfast. Tables are for two, but can be put together if, for example, a family needs one. The entrance to the hotel opens onto a small canal, and the pavement in front is very busy, but this is not noticeable with the window closed. Not far away (about an 8 minute walk) is the stop for boat line 1 (Vaporetto) and a gondola crossing (Traghetto) on the large canal to the market opposite. Right next to it are good restaurants in the basement of the building next door and within walking distance. At the hotel we were given a small map of Venice, and information on everything we were interested in (where to find what, how to get there, ...).

This is a very charming little hotel a little off the main tourist area, but close enough for you to explore Venice and visit the main tourist sites. Close to the main canals for transportation around the city, but closer to the lesser known part of Venice above the fish market which is exceptional. In and around there are great local restaurants and shops. The hotel is small and the people very friendly with a nice e breakfast to start the day. We loved it!

The hotel was right on canal and a gondola stop right outside hotel entrance, great location for getting out exploring, although we got a bus into Venice from airport and it was roughly about 20min walk to hotel but we under estimated how many bridges and steps we had to cross in the heat with cases, a water taxi would have been a lot easier. Staff were always friendly and ready to help, breakfast was good. Room was small but clean and had everything we needed although our room was next to reception so a little nosy at times x

We opted for a suite which was very comfortable with a bathroom and a powder room, decorated in typical Venetian brocade and very attractive. Breakfast was good. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We liked the location, 4 minutes from a vaporetto stop, close to the Rialto bridge and Piazza San Marco. Lots of restaurants in the area.

They served breakfast with lovely cappuccinos starting at 7:30, but if you want coffee in your room before then, you have powdered Nescafe and an electric water kettle. We ran into this in several Italian hotels.

The location is in the middle of Venice, very centric with all great locations at reach. Of course, as any place in Venice, you will have to lookout for getting there through stairs. We came with our stroller and baby. The breakfast is really good. We arrived late and quickly offered milk for our daughter.

They don't offer restaurant services, only breakfast. Not a problem since you are surrounded by restaurants and you can bring your food in the room.

The hotel employees were very good and supportive. The housekeeping came and cleaned our room while we were taking the breakfast. Room style.

In the last night people over 11.00pm were speaking in the corridor in front of our room and no one at the reception intervened. Noisy and we were wake up… Breakfast was good but not enough vegetable.

The hotel and our room were very charming and felt like old world Venice. The location is right in the heart of so many things. Very easy to walk and see all the places in Venice. The free breakfast was delicious! The staff was friendly and helpful.

An elevator would have been great, but we when you come to Italy you have to expect stairs!

Short walk to the main attractions but quiet enough at night. The breakfast served was excellent! All the staff was very helpful and telling us good places to eat, how to get to certain locations, and arranging for water taxis. We would definitely stay here again.

The bathroom is a bit small and outdated.

We booked this hotel last minute as we had to adjust our flights for our cruise out of Ravenna and so we’re pleasantly surprised to see this fabulous hotel had a room available at a reasonable price. Initial communication prior to arrival was very prompt, courteous and professional. Our room was beautiful - the interior design was beautiful and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We will most definitely stay here again should we visit Venice - thanks so much for a great stay.

We had a fantastic time at the Hotel Antico Doge in Venice. The service was excellent. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. I had to make some last minute changes to my stay and although Booking.com told me they couldn’t make the change, when I spoke to the hotel directly they were extremely accommodating. The daily breakfast was very good including eggs and bacon but also pastry, cheese, meats, cereals, and yogurts – and excellent cappuccino. The location is perfect. It’s a 4 minute walk to the Rialto Bridge and a 9 minute walk to Saint Mark’s Square. It’s a 4 minute walk to the nearest Vaporetto and a 3minute walk to the nearest Traghetto. There’s a Gondola for hire right outside the door of the hotel. If I return to Venice I will absolutely stay there again – and I would not use Booking.com ever again!

This issue is with Booking.com, NOT the hotel. I had to make some last minute changes to my stay and Booking.com told me the hotel couldn’t make the change. But when I spoke to the hotel directly they were extremely accommodating. While the hotel was perfectly flexible, when I called Booking.com and told them they got it wrong, they were unfazed and unapologetic. I won't ever use Booking.com again.
