Absolutely amazing experience. We went for Taylor Swift Eras Tour. They made the experience so smooth. Starting with an easy early check-in to get ready, cookies, the photo booth, everything was amazing. Thank you Clayton Cardiff. You rate 10/10 on hospitality! Please spread your energy to the rest of the UK.

Lovely helpful staff. Comfy bed. Big room. Great central position.

Air conditioning went off at midnight and my room on 9th floor was very hot. Phoned down at 2am and they put it back on.. Shower was over the bath which I'm not keen on

The hotel has a great location. One side is on the railway tracks and quieter! The other is facing the city and right opposite a 'Spoons and another place across the street, the Peppermint Lounge (or something like that). They were lively of an evening. However, you can't fault the location being but a hop, skip and a jump to the city. Comfortable room, good bed. I would also like to note that there are a large number of electrical sockets, certainly in the room I had. (704). Usually, there is next to nothing so well done on that little detail. The breakfast is good although the hotel restaurant is heaving on a Sunday morning. I am saying that I like this hotel, I would stay here again and would select a room on the train-spotting side of the hotel. If I was staying over a weekend, I would probably make my own arrangements for breakfast too.

After all the good things about this hotel, the bathroom is the achilles heel. Or let's say twisted heel. Who at Clayton thought it a good idea to put an ordinary bath in the bathroom? I guess if you like soaking in the tub for a while, it is great but the bath narrows towards the plug and the taps. Consequently the floor of the bath is curved and you find yourself standing at a twisted angle to maintain footing. I've seen baths (and stayed at hotels) where the plug end is flat and more square, thus allowing standing under the shower. Here's an idea - what about installing walk-in showers instead of baths? Guests with upcoming stays get bombarded with offers of rooms on a high floor and so on. Have some shower only rooms and offer those as a selection.

Convenience, clean, comfortable, price.

Arrived after a long day at work around 5pm. Checked in. Staff decided to change my double room without telling me to a triple single room, i need a double bed, I was in pain and had heavy luggage to carry, also the phone in the room didn’t work. I called via my mobile and was told I’d booked that room but they would change it (but they only had an interlocking double room) and I had to go back to reception. I got to reception and showed them my booking was a double room, I was then told it was changed as it was quieter, but it really did waste my time and caused more pain. I advised they could had told me, I would have said no, had a muffled apology but it didn’t feel genuine. I felt a bit let down by staff.

Brilliant location, literally 2 minute walk from Mill Lane, which is full of great restaurants. Walk through Mill Lane to get to all the shops you could want. Rooms are great, very comfortable bed, bath and shower. Clean.

Other guests slamming doors! Pet peeve of mine, and totally unnecessary. Keep hold of the door handle, and close quietly! First night, same room in and out constantly until gone midnight, slammed door every time! Happened every night, but not quite at the same level. The only other thing I would say is it's a shame you can't get a decent meal at the onsite restaurant. I started staying here the year before Covid struck, and the food was lovely. After covid, the food went exceptionally downhill, the quality of ingredients and the actual cooking is pretty poor, and the menu hasn't changed for years. Learnt my lesson, and this year patronised a few of the other, off-site restaurants, which worked well for me.

Clayton is such an accessible brand! I arrived substantially early and although I couldn't get an early check in I did manage to add breakfast and get my bags cared for u til I could check in, staff were friends, location great, breakfast was a little lacklustre with my passing comment of "a good vet could have brought the bacon back to life" probably hitting a nerve or two. I will always stay in Clayton given the choice.

Bed was woefully small, it felt a lot smaller than a standard double which is a shame, the shower was either boiling or freezing there was no in-between breakfast was okay... check out although easy was confusing as I had checked out online but couldn't find where to put my room keys, in the end I just handed them to the receptionist

I like the friendly staff. They are very helpful and kind.

We went back to the hotel after a show. And felt like a snack. As it wad about 915. We were shocked that the kitchen was closed. I accept that. But not even a packet of crisps. But the bar staff were really understanding, they said they had ordered crisps for the rugby. But the crisps had not turned up. So I thought I would have hot chocolate. They had used all the chocolate. In a big hotel so early in the evening, I did feel a bit let down.. 🙃 and there wad no hot chocolate in the room. And only 2 bottles of water for 3 people. But I will be staying again as I do like the staff.

Being able to check in by myself was great this saved time and I could get to my room quicker after a long day. I also really liked how the TV was not on the wall so it was more comfortable to watch from bed and that it was also a good size. There was a good selection of flavoured teas and coffees and plenty of milk. The bed was extremely comfortable and I liked how there were also cushions. Overall the room exceeded my expectations and I would stay again.

I would say that the light in the room was slightly too dim but I think there may have been a bulb out on one of the bedside lights. This wasn’t a bad thing overall as it makes the room cosy and the bathroom lights were bright enough to get ready in the mornings.

Nice hotel great view from 4th floor room

Inflexibility shown by the staff. Palava due to separate room bookings I made because of varying number of persons on the different but consecutive dates (24 and 25 August). Same family name and I pointed this out to the check in staff so that we could stay in the same room without needing to check out. However, we were forced to check out by 12 and wait in the lobby until the next check in hour at 3pm (after much argument, the person in charge allowed us to move in around 2pm). Incidentally, the room we were kicked out of was still unoccupied and uncleaned by the time we were assigned to another room just next door. So much ado for nothing. Sometimes common sense can be applied to resolve simple issues.

Upon my arrival I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist, which definitely helped me feel a little better after missing my flight home. I had a privilege to choose whether I wanted a room on the upper/lower floor - a very nice gesture. I also fancied the fact that even though I made a booking on the same day the price was reasonable. Last, on my very last moment in Cardiff another staff member helped me book a taxi at absurd time of the day (4a.m) and made sure I got there safely.

To my great surprise, the bin in the toilet was full of used pads which certainly wasn't what I would have expected from a 4* hotel, luckily, housekeepers fixed that the very next day. Apart from that everything was perfect
