We really enjoyed our stay here. The caretakers were so friendly and the property was exceptional! We even had warm baked scones, fresh squeezed orange juice, and tea at breakfast. It has been beautifully restored. Walking through the castle tower was also really cool. We ended up doing a self-guided tour for most of it which was really cool! Really appreciated how the owner uses antique furniture, some of it more than 200+ years old throughout the property. Definitely felt like we went back in time! We had a wonderful view of the castle from our suite. The clawfoot tub was also wonderful. My wife plays harp, and we both didn't realize until we were there that the famous Brian Boru harp was once housed here. Highly recommend booking here!

Our host John, who was very welcoming, had arranged for adjoining rooms for our family and offered to change accommodations for us if one family member had difficulty with stairs, which was not an issue after all. The comfortable modern rooms were in a restored manor house on the property and were very nicely appointed with antiques. A continental breakfast with a variety of choices including fresh pastries and fruit was served in the dining room. We were so very fortunate as to have a private tour of the castle itself by Mike, the project manager, whose skill and dedication over several years has gloriously restored the castle. Truly a labor of love that is continuing through the remaining buildings on the property. The owner is to be commended for his generosity and desire to preserve these historical properties for all to appreciate and enjoy.

Nothing negative to say -

Very cool location, beautifully decorated in historically restored theme. Room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable and a bottle of wine was provided on arrival (with glasses). There was a small fridge in the room to keep bits and pieces. There was a lovely little table to sit and enjoy the tea that was provided over views of the castle gardens. Divine breakfast with plenty of options, freshly baked cakes, breads, yoghurts, fruit, cereals and cheeses, jams and spreads (extra cheeses were also provided). Tea and coffee were also provided and were delicious. There is also an antique piano in the foyer for you to play, we asked for permission first but they were more than happy to let us play. Very easy to communicate with the host who responded within minutes about any requests or queries we had.

The only downside was we missed the opportunity of a guided tour as we were asked the morning we had to leave and catch a train to Dublin so remember to request/inquire about it asap! You can also hear your neighbours, especially if they snore like a bear and have an adjoining room.

The staff at Claregalway Castle were great! They greeted us like family when we arrived and treated us as such our entire visit. They took us on a private tour of the tower and answered any and all questions we had. Breakfast each morning was continental buffet style but there was plenty to choose from along with hot tea, coffee, and fresh made expresso/cappuccino. The castle was close enough to Galway to not make it a chore to get to town but far enough away to not feel overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of the big city. They did not have room available for a family of 4 that suited our purposes so we reserved 2 rooms and requested adjoining if possible. They were able to meet our request with ease. They had a bottle of complimentary wine in each of our rooms for us to enjoy along with waters, coffees, and teas (with tea sets!).

There wasn't anything I did not like about this location.

This place is amazing. The history and the effort put into restoring the castle are worth it alone. Our host, Gerry, was incredibly helpful throughout the whole process, from booking the best rooms for our needs and helping with our itinerary, preparing the dining area for a great breakfast, booking tours, suggesting places to eat and he took us on a tour through the castle and the stone works shop. Our three nights at Claregalway Castle of our ten night vacation in Ireland were the highlight of the trip!

Can someone do something about all the rain Ireland gets?

Our castle stay was so peaceful. Our toddler enjoyed the large lawns and the flowers. We took a short stroll by the river too. Our rooms were beautiful and the restoration of the castle and the rooms is immaculate. It was such a pleasure in every way. You feel immersed in history while still being able to enjoy modern luxury.

Nothing- I wish we had stayed there longer!

Staying at Claregalway Castle was a highlight of our trip! Getting to stay in a Castle built in the 1400's was an incredible experience. The room was very spacious, the bed was incredibly comfortable, the continental breakfast was great, the water pressure in the shower was fantastic, the wifi was super speed, the house manager, John, was so kind and lovely to talk to...I could go on and on! Our room had a bit of a musty smell, which was the only downside, but I think that's to be expected in an old building and it was certainly not enough to dampen our experience. We were also a quick 15 minute drive from Galway city center so in a very convenient location. Learning about the castle and getting to tour around was an added bonus. We can't wait to visit again!

The building we stayed in is on the grounds of the Claregalway Castle, which is being refurbished. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. Jerry, who greeted us each morning at breakfast, gave us a tour of the castle, which is spectacular! This B&B is about a 7 minute drive outside of Galway, which we wanted. It was quiet and very comfortable. The winds (which blew very consistently for our stay) lulled us to sleep at night. A lovely place!

Breakfast was good, but there were no hot items to eat. The shower took some getting used to--the wall to keep the water within the shower only extended half-way, which would have been fine if the shower head was stationary. It proved challenging with a hand-held shower head. Not a deal breaker for us. Great water pressure.

This castle stay was AMAZING! I would definitely recommend anyone to stay at this location. It looked and felt like a castle but also with all modern amenities and very clean. The room was huge and it really felt like we were in a castle. We checked in late but were able to tour the castle part in the morning and that really added to the experience. This was our favorite place that we stayed in Ireland- well worth the extra cost to stay somewhere cool!

The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating to all of our needs. The breakfast was just enough to get you started for the day. Our room overlooked the river and was scenic, quiet, and peaceful. Loved it. One of the staff gave us a personal tour through the castle and Elizabeth, the castle cat, greeted us each time we returned from being out and about. Felt like home away from home.
