The accommodation is as clean as it gets. The choice of breakfast was exceptional. Helpful advice about places to visit and likely weather, i.e. good local knowledge. The proprietors were extremely helpful and friendly. Service was above and beyond at all times. Help was always offered (without asking) and they were charming. When we first arrived I was, perhaps, a little underwhelmed with the area and our attic room. This was a mistake. The room was just right and had loads of storage and hooks, which is sometimes a problem at other hotels and guesthouses. The bed was comfortable and the ensuite just right. The area is actually lovely. It is worth a trip to the seafront, especially to the excellent fish and chip shop (Salt, I think). There is lovely ice cream available in a shop near the front. Plenty of places to sit and relax by the sea. There is a decent train service, and it is worth the fairly short journey to Whitehaven for a visit. The Rum Story museum in Whitehaven was good. Muncaster Castle was nearby and is worth a visit - fantastic birds of prey experience. The location allows easy access to various lakes, which are stunning. Ideal for walkers, paddle boarders, etc. Ravenglass is worth a visit. We stayed for four nights and were sorry to leave.

Lack of pubs and restaurants in town but this is clear in the description.

Location is great. Very close to the Seascale beach and 30 mins drive to Scafell Pike/Wastwater. There is a local Co-op. Both hosts Angela and Paula are kind and lovely. They maintained good communication. The lodge has a homely environment and lovely view from the dining room. Angela served us lovely breakfast. She was very thoughtful and offered to wash and dry our wet and dirty clothes post hiking. We hope to book our stay again in the future.

Everything was great. However, during winter stay, it will be beneficial to have a mixer instead of the 2 separate hot and cold taps in the ensuite basin.

Our stay was perfect! Excellent location, only a short walk from train station. It was a great location to climb Scafell Pike and visit Wastewater lake. Room was spacious and spotless. The owners were lovely and very helpful with logistics. They recommended a taxi (Gosforth Taxi) for our hikes since we didn't have a car. When our train was canceled by a rail strike, they offered to drive us to the nearest staton in Whitehaven if we couldn't find a taxi. (We did find a taxi but really appreciate their kindness!) Our breakfasts had very large portions and were delicious. Full breakfast cooked to order along with cereals, granola and yogurt, juices, etc. We had dinner one night at the lodge and the food was also lovely - large portions of homemade pasta! We were sad to leave!

Stayed with 2 friends after a walk up scafell pike. Paul greeted us on arrival in the evening and showed us to a lovely, cosy warm and spotless room. Beds were so comfy, the room had everything you needed. Breakfast was lovely- lots of choice and was cooked so quickly! Angela really looked after us, 2 lovely hosts we would definitely return! Located close to a co op. We made a short drive to the beach, and a quiet town that’s got a fish and chip shop. Visited the Pennington hotel for food which was close by - the nicest sausage and mash I’ve ever tasted!

Situated in a very quiet area however we loved everything about our stay!

The hosts were fantastic and went above and beyond to make us as comfortable as possible. The breakfast was cooked to order, with an excellent choice and was fantastic. We enjoyed our stay.

The place looks a little tired. The room that we were in was clean and comfortable with everything that we needed, but there were areas of damp. I understand the property is near the sea and from experience this will be an ongoing issue. There was no ventilation in the bathroom and the window would not open which resulted in lots of condensation after a shower. We were only there 2 nights so this was not a major issue.

Really enjoyed our visit - evening meal and breakfast were excellent - you will not leave the dining room hungry!! Paul the owner was a great host - happy to chat and provide info about the area and to leave you alone when we were talking amongst ourselves.

If you’re comparing this to a Premier Inn or similar you’d say the room was small - didn’t really bother us it was comfortable for two people but there’s a lot of picky people out there!

We loved our stay at the Cumbrian Lodge. Angela and Paul were so welcoming and accommodating for us. We came to climb Scafell Pike and Angela kindly provided us a packed breakfast for the hike. The room was cosy and clean with a nice hot shower to use at the end of a long hike. A great location in Seascale with a short walk to the train station and the Co-Op was just down the road. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here. Thanks Angela and Paul, I hope you had a lovely anniversary weekend!

very welcoming and accommodating hoteliers. Hotel is always keep in the best condition possible with plenty of parking. Unfortunately I didn't get to enjoy the beer garden due to the winter weather and diet.

don't think there is anything I can write hear. Yes there are niggles the only one i can think of noisy shower valve but I feel I am being picky by mentioning it as having traveled and stayed in many hotels around the area this is the only one I kept returning too.

Breakfast excellent, hot and tasty. Loved the standard of cleanliness-my top priority! Hosts helpful and informative of the area.

Nothing with the booking. Thought the small town needed some TLC. We did however have delicious soup in an unlikely looking small cafe, just shows you never can tell. Also recommendation of Italian restaurant in next village was great and much appreciated,

I like the cozy room, the quiet and quick links to attractions areas, excellent breakfast, and comfortable beds. The room has plenty of storage and is well equipped with toiletries, towels, hangers, tea facilities. I absolutely loved the owners! Very friendly and caring people, they have been a great help with direction for visiting places.

Unfortunately, during our stay it has rained most of the time. Nothing to do with the property though
