Staff were exceptional, so friendly, hard working and always smiling. Room was beautiful and so spacious. Cleaned a few times during the day and fresh towels given without even asking. Breakfast was lovely. Buffet breakfast with eggs made to order and fresh coffee/teas. Lunch was really good and bar staff were fantastic at making cocktails.

Everything was lovely apart from the use of sun loungers. Guests should not be allowed put out towels on Sun loungers early morning to ‘reserve them’. We came to the pool at midday one day. There was loads of beds all with towels on them. We observed numerous double loungers with towels on them vacant for nearly 2-3 hours. This should not be allowed especially when there aren’t enough beds for all guests. We also witnessed a couple taking a double lounger each while other guests were aimlessly wandering looking for loungers and there was none free. Signs should be displayed and a member of staff there to monitor the misuse of loungers. No reserving beds and ONE single lounger per person.

The design and layout are beautiful . Very unique compared to other places we have stayed. The staff are so attentive and are very friendly. Breakfast buffet is fantastic and caters for everyone’s tastes. You won’t be disappointed if you choose to stay here. The pool layout is perfect and never ever had to get up early to put towels out for beds etc. This hotel has lots going on without it being in your face. Would stay here again.

Very little. The WiFi isn’t great and drops in and out a lot. The TV runs off the WiFi so It’s annoying with the TV pausing all the time. There were renovations happening in the rooms beside ours which were noisy quite early each morning.

Stunning place, great arhitecture, everything, every corner shows very much care. Great staff, large room, extraordinary terrace, stunning views, staff excelent. Breakfast very tastefull and with many, many choices.

First, if you say you have a spa with sauna, steambath and jacuzzi at a 5 star boutique hotel, you have to mention that is not for free! Nowhere else in similar places I had to pay for this services, 40 euro/day, to acces some of these facilities that hotel presented as included, because I verified in their presentation, website and intern app, is nowhere mentioned. So , i understand that if you want a massage, a facial or other trataments you have to pay. But you cannot present yoursefl as a spa hotel boutique and ask for money to acces the sauna at the reception!!! Huge disapoiment. The pool is nice, heated, but is maximum 1.10 m so you cannot swim, just soak.

This is a fabulous hotel! We had a junior suite with pool view which was quite big, had direct access to the pool and it was exceptionally clean. In fact the whole hotel was very clean. The room had air con which is a big bonus because the weather was quite warm in May. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was bright and airy. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The pool area was lovely. No shortage of sunbeds and a fantastic chill out area. It is an adults only hotel so it is very peaceful and relaxing. I would highly recommend this hotel!

We had breakfast included so we had breakfast each day in the hotel. The only negatives I found is that the sun was shining in the large glass windows so I found the restaurant quite hot if we would not get a table in the shade - it would be good if there were some blinds to pull down a little. The other thing was the cooked buffet food was not to our taste. However, they make fresh omelettes which were delicious as well as a large selection of cold food and pastries which were really tasty so there was no shortage of good food and the service was excellent.

I have been at this property a few times, and the experience has always been positive, hence return visits. 1. 10 minutes from the airport 2. Adults only, quiet, yet sociable 3. The staff is amazing. Friendly, helpful and smart 4. Rooms are clean and comfortable and well serviced 5. Food is very good. The breakfast buffet (and I’m not a fan of buffets) is worth the price per night. Staff is spectacular and the food is fresh, with loads of options. 6. Great gym

1. During peak times they are understaffed. If you try to get a drink at 2pm by the pool or ice for the room expect a wait. But it’s in the sun, so no big drama. The staff they have working are working very hard, they just need more of them.

The staff were excellent and soo friendly and couldn't do enough for you . The facilities were fantastic and everything was always very clean , neat and tidy . It was a fantastically well run hotel and I would definately recommend staying here ! It's also child free and soo quiet and relaxing and just a few minutes walk from Playa Del Carmen centre and the quay side .

The only very small thing was that the air con wouldn't work properly but as we went in December and the temp was only in the low 20's it didnt affect us too much .

Everything was absolutely perfect in La Isla y El Mar Hotel. Can't fault anything. The room with pool view was perfect, the breakfast was amazing, the restaurant meals delicious, perfect location in Puerto Del Carmen and all the staff were really brilliant, friendly, helpful and provided a fabulous service. I would very highly recommend this hotel and my wife and I will certainly be returning. It's one of the best holiday's we've had. The perfect hotel in which to celebrate our 30 years of marriage.

Could not fault anything.

Very smart and comfortable hotel. Large enough to have everything you want but not to large to be impersonal. Staff were as you would expect from its 5 star rating as were the rooms and facilities. Will definitely return.

Only disappointment was the inability to log into our Netflix account on the room tv’s. Reception said it was a licensing issue which it may be but we have been able to this elsewhere. Would be nice I’d they could sort that as we were there during the recent heat wave and had to spend more time than usual in the room.

This is probably one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. We have stayed here 2 years in a row and are waiting to be able to book for next year. Everything is top quality! The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. We had a junior suite with a pool view. The room was very spacious and absolutely spotless. It was cleaned every day. In fact every area of the hotel was extremely clean. The pools were delightful and we never had a problem getting a sunbed. There is a nice pool bar where you can relax and have a bite to eat for lunch. The breakfast is exceptional! Lots of fresh produce and choice. When I last reviewed this hotel after our first trip, I commented that the breakfast room was a bit too hot with all the large windows and this year I was pleased to see that the blinds were pulled down half way to provide a little shade while eating but still being able to look outside. Overall this is an exceptional hotel which I highly recommend. Thank you and well done to all the staff at La Isla y el Mar! We cannot wait to go back!

The hotel is expensive but you do get what you pay for! The only comment I would make is more of a 'room for improvement' comment. We had a very late flight and unfortunately we could not get a late check-out because our room was already booked for the next guests so this was understandable. There is a luggage storage room and we were of course able to use the hotel facilities for the day however there was only a very small changing room for 2 of us provided for 30 mins - I cannot remember if there was a shower or not but regardless there would not have been enough time for 2 of us to shower and properly get ready so it was a little inconvenient. Maybe the hotel would consider having a proper room with shower available for maybe 45 mins that would have been ok.

Breakfast was amazing. The choice of food and the fresh breads, fruits, pastries was amazing. The staff were very welcoming in the morning and very accommodating. They opened the breakfast room for us half an hour early so we could grab a light bite before our flight. The hotel area was very private, clean and had a very intimate feel around it. I most defiantly will be returning here again.
