I stayed here in 1986 when I was back packing as a 20 year old. I wanted to relive a memory ..and Balmers didn’t disappoint! Its much larger now of course but still has the warm welcoming feeling I remembered. I stayed in a 6 dorm..I probably should have stayed in a single room..I’m a little noisy as the rooms are air tight 😮💨The showers and toilets are nice and clean. The security cages under your bed are fantastic ..bring a lock if you want security The new kitchen will be welcomed by many. It’s a great location as it’s between Ost & West stations and a short stroll or free public bus (compliments with your stay) ride to the center. Cool vending machines. Lots of living spaces to chill out. Johanna at reception is a super star and will help you with anything!
maybe some little signs for the toilet/shower doors ..it’s a bit of a guessing game 😂🚽🧼although it’s a bit fun like a Harry Potter world

Well equipped hostel in a great location. Facilities were clean and plenty of them to go around. We stayed in a private room, which was tiny but the beds were comfortable.
No AC in a loft room in summer, made it difficult to sleep. You have one window for airflow and it lets the rain in. It was a great hostel but wayyyyy overpriced for what you get.

Location was great, good bus services to Interlaken Ost. The kitchen was spacious and was clean, with enough pots, pans and cutlery to go around. The common spaces were inviting and vibrant.
The bathrooms were tiny. I had to be careful not to hit my head against the sloping ceiling in the private rooms. ( got bumped a few times). No scissor in the kitchen. Some guests were eating out of the cooking pots , and no one to advise them. Out of the four standing stoves, two of them extremely slow to heat up. Enormous Waste of time if only those were open. The fridges were leaking water and not enough for when the hostels are at full capacity.

The hostel with their bright decor definitely stood out from the streets. We are also lucky to have been able to stay in a room with a mini balcony that looks out to it. Just next door to the hostel was an excellent halal pizzaria that welcomes supper goer. The staffs are understanding and accommodating, helping me with safekeeping my luggage that was delivered from airport due to delayed flights. We had a good match of Foosball with the friendly staff over there! Of course, it was after their working shift! :P Great vibes all around~
The Balmer wrist band issued is not easily adjustable, rendering it difficult to remove at times. As the season is reaching chilling temperature, the room heater is unable to cope with keeping the room warm, but we felt fuzzy though :)

The location was absolutely great. Only 10/15 minute walk each of the stations, but there is also a bus stop right next to the hostel that takes you to Interlaken West or Wilderswil Station. But I have to give it a 10/10 rating for how open it is for people to meet eachother. It was my first time opening up to hanging out with other people when solo travelling and the people I met definitely made this trip unforgettable. I would recommend the hostel to get a coffee machine though 😅
Some of the ovens etc didn't work as well as they could, and same with the fridges, I wouldn't keep anything that needs to be frozen in them.

staff were very helpful with planning our four days and very nice. the hostel is very big with lots of entertainment and spaces to chill. there's a jacuzzi, chess, a bar, a mini club, lots of chairs and couches and a dining room where everyone eats. the kitchen is great, there are like four stovetop ovens with a microwave and bench. lots of utensils to share, and like four big fridges. very handy to cook when it's so expensive in switzerland to eat out. bus is free in interlaken area for people staying here and the stop is near.

Huge communal spaces - rooms to play darts, to chill and read, play the piano or guitar, do your work, and a fully equipped kitchen. Toilets are so clean and I never had to wait to shower or use the bathroom. Receptionists are super friendly as well, they’re just strict about the 4pm check-in time. There are lockers (paid but super cheap like 2 CHF for 24 hours if I recall for the medium size locker) and storage area for luggage (free). There’re also organised social events like bbq, clubbing in the hostel itself, hiking together etc. love the vibes!

it was my first time traveling alone and also my first time staying in a hostel. it was AMAZING, i met so many lovely people, the vibes were amazing, the staff was also super nice and would help you with anything you need. location is also great, close to the train station and the bus station is just across the street. i absolutely loved my stay at balmers hostel, it was really cozy too and you can visit so many places around interlaken staying here. absolutely recommend it

I love Balmers Hostel so much I don’t want to leave! They have scheduled things to do in order to socialize with other travelers which is so fun. The rooms are great, the whole thing is like a cozy Swiss chalet, a lot of things to do inside, and nearby the main train station going to different cities. We met the owner casually, Mr. Balmers while talking at the table and gave us Prosecco.
It’s perfect for a solo traveller like me.
