Very cosy room with a view of the Matterhorn. Everything was excellent, the breakfast, the location in the heart of the village with 5 minutes walking distance to Sunnegga and to the shuttle that takes you to the Matterhorn glacier lifts. Big thanks to Zack at the front desk who gave me a very friendly and warm welcome and was extremely professional.

Room Size: Some guests find that rooms in older hotels, like Hotel Alpina, can be smaller compared to modern standards. Limited space might affect comfort, especially during longer stays. Noise Levels: Central locations can sometimes mean higher noise levels from nearby streets, shops, or other guests. If soundproofing isn’t adequate, this can be a disturbance. Aging Facilities: Historic hotels can have aging infrastructure or decor that might feel outdated. Bathrooms, heating systems, or furnishings might not be as modern or functional as those in newer hotels. Limited Amenities: Hotel Alpina might not offer as many amenities (e.g., spa, gym, or swimming pool) as larger, more contemporary hotels.

There is nobody at the hotel, but only at the partner hotel Tannenhof. They have closed over lunch and you can leave your luggage there only if lucky. The staff at the breakfast was nice. The staff at the reception let you wait 5 minutes, because there are more important things to do like finish a note. Friendliness is a word of foreign origin. You feel like you are a burden to them and not a paying customer. They better take out all customer-related staff and automize this. I rather interact with a neutral machine than somebody unfriendly and unwilling.

Amazing. We were also given am ugrade of the room, to the new hotel. Everything was absolutely perfect, if o can say so. The hotel is wonderful, location is perfect? Right in the city center. Nice quiet area, great views. The rooms are very comfortable, all the facilities ar at your disposal and the staff is very friendly. They also have, right inside the hitel? One of the original 3 (only 3 in existence!) train cabs from the old railroad.

This hotel is terrific value in central Zermatt. Our room (21) was cosy, comfy, well-sized, great shower pressure, clean and tidy, and an elevator to save humping your bags up three floors. Slightly thin walls, slightly firm mattress, rather soft pillows, but overall it does what a hotel should without making a huge hit on the wallet. Staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast at the hotel next door was not a vast selection but perfectly adequate.

Would have liked a fridge, but in winter time the window sill does a similar job!

The location just off the main street is excellent and the hotel has a Swiss Mountain charm about it. Our room was located on the top floor so we could view the tip of the Matterhorn which was a bonus. The room kept surprisingly warm without using the room heating available.

No fridge and no tea/coffee making facilities. The Hotel lift only stops between floors and is very small maybe only big enough for one person with a suitcase.

Close to train station, easy to get around from. Suits your needs if you're just wanting a bed at the end of the night. Heater worked well, which was good as it was freezing outside. We accidentally broke a glass during the night in the bathroom which we showed the cleaner in the morning. She was great about it and room was spotless on return.

A kettle would been great during winter.

Bedrooms were very spacious and we had a room with a balcony from where we could enjoy the view with some wine. It was quite cold in Zermatt when we were there, but the room and bathroom were both equipped with heating that made them nice and warm. The toiletries that were provided were of high quality. The breakfast that was included was really good.

We liked everything regarding our accomodation. We did however feel that Zermatt is quite expensive in general with the city tax also being quite high for only one night (8.32 Euro for 2 people) compared to other places in Europe that we visited.

The best part of this property were the amazing staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to answer questions or provide the information / assistance we needed. The rooms were impeccably clean, which is something that is important to me. The breakfast is lovely with plenty of options and is located in a very pretty space. It is a very short walk to the main street in Zermatt, so the location is also very good.

The only downside is that the room was a little small. I believe the hotel has two buildings and I stayed in the older of the two buildings, so if you can, try to reserve a room on the newer side of the hotel. My bathroom didn't have any place to set my toiletries and the shower was really tiny.

Let us check in early and would’ve let us drop our bags off if room wasn’t ready yet. Great location — easy access to main areas in Zermatt. Balcony with view of Matterhorn. Room has cozy alpine chalet feel.

Bathroom very dated. Dim lighting in room and bathroom. Very slow WiFi that oftentimes didn’t even work (plus it seems like WiFi comes from city, not even hotel).
