The steps, the steps, this can't be emphasised enough. Make sure you know about the steps, you do not want to be coming home late in rain or after a few drinks to do these steps If you're fit and healthy you won't have an issue. The view makes the steps worth it though

Priceless views. To sit in the evening or morning, enjoy the view, listen to the sound of the surrounding "jungle" at night, that's what I love, and I got exactly what I wanted. The room had a nice "countryside lodge" design, which I also liked. Some other guests described run-down rooms with bad smell or dirt; I saw none of that, it was all ok for me.

150 stairs to climb, it's true. But there is a machine to pull the luggage up, and they help carry it. So it wasn't too bad. But everyone visiting definitely needs to be able to climb 150 stairs

The view from the top was worth the stairs to get there. And loved the feeling of staying in the jungle.

No bar, or place to eat without climbing back down. Not a big deal but would make a big difference to the stay.

Railay Hilltop is a quiet and nice accommodation situated on the end of Railay east beach and up the hill. Be prepared to walk 135 steps up (and down) but you’ll find nice clean rooms all with terrace or balcony, a wonderful big common terrace, an amazing view, friendly staff and a really welcomed feature: drinking water to refill your bottles (so you don’t have to carry them). For a relaxed stay at Railay this is just perfect and due to Railay being so small everything is in walking distance (10-15 min to west beach). Right down the stairs you’ll find good restaurants and small shops as well. We enjoyed our stay very much - totally recommended!

Be aware: the coordinates in booking are more or less for the reception, there you need to check in before climbing the stairs! Check the “real” location of the accommodation on google maps

After the initial shock of finding the place I really liked it. It's up in the hills so you can't hear the lingtail boats or thd music from the bars and hotels (my bungalow was a bit closer to the beach so I sometimes could hear faint notice from one of the hotels in the hills). There are stairs but I didn't find them challenging. Don't make my mistake and come unannounced - they have a cart that can take your luggage up the stairs and the staff are more than happy to help. There's also transfer from the airport but I found it a bit pricey. You'll be surrounded by nature - lots of trees and everything that comes with it. I loved the sound of the leaves, birds and whatever else was out there. There are some roosters that would do their thing in thd morning but I didn't find them particularly disturbing because they were never noisy for a long time. And if my AC was on I couldn't hear much anyway. By the way, the AC was quite powerful, so I was able to relax. I really liked that I had a separate bungalow and it felt very private. There very huge panoramic windows that at first I felt were not a great idea but the bungalow was positioned in a way that no one could really see anything from the outside. It was rather old but very clean (the toilet was definitely new though). But again I wasn't staying at (and paying for) a 5-star hotel, so I had very realistic expectations. There was also that big public area overseeing the hills that I definitely recommend spending time at - you might meet the local cat that was just the loveliest. The staff were amazing. Very friendly and helpful (e.g. I gave them my laundry after 8 pm and got it back early in the morning at it wasn't express or anything like that) but not intrusive which I really appreciated. Overall, I think it's great value for money - I paid much less than I would have in other places and didn't have the issues that I saw people complain about, e.g.

DON'T USE GOOGLE MAPS TO GET THERE! It will take you to a completely wrong place. I am not saying that this is the hotel's fault but if you follow Google map's route you'll be extremely disappointed. Ask the staff in advance, essentially you just need to turn right from the pier and go along the beach past Gym Box until you see the stairs with the sign Railay Hilltop. But again, contact the staff in advance so that they can help you with the luggage. Also, it is not obvious where the reception is so this is another reason why making sure you are expected is a good idea

Stayed here about 2 weeks and the place was awesome. The view is amazing and whoever is complaining about the stairs needs to get in shape. It's really not a big deal at all and if you live on the 4th floor in a house without an elevator you do the same amount of walking up every day. Therefore don't be deterred by those reviews complaining about the stairs and make sure to not miss out. It's super relaxed, no noise and very friendly staff. Wifi works great as well.

The room is amazing. Spacious, really clean and very comfortable. The views are great. We love nature and enjoyed the peace and quiet of the location. There are 125 steps you must climb to get to your room but it was all worth it for us.

The location on Google map is correct but the directions are wrong so it makes it really hard to find it. The check-in is in a Travel Service stand that is way before reaching the hostel. My advice, look for Mom's Kitchen on Google map and you will find the place to do the check-in on your right hand. They will Guide you to the room from there.

Great view from the room! You are in NATURE - we saw an incredible Atlas Moth whilst having our coffee <3 There is a big, comfy bed and lovely decor in the room. The bathroom is nice. Lovely a quiet retreat from all the tourist in Railey. WARNING - there are a lot of steps as in the name "hilltop" so if you aren't at a general level of fittness probably don't stay here.

A day before our arrival, I wrote to the hotel that we would like to ask for help in transporting our luggage. I didn't get a detailed answer, so when we arrived we saw that there was a pair of rails next to the stairs, but we didn't know if they worked, so we ended up walking up. It wasn't a big problem for us as we are relatively fit, but if we had a more specific answer to call or text when we are there it would have been better, but maybe a doorbell or intercom would solve such problems.

The views were stunning from the rooms, big lodge with modern design. our room came with Table and chairs on the balcony , outside seating on the porch and a site seeing platform on the side. Location is pretty good as not too far from the main strip but just far enough so that its quiet at night. Staff were friendly and attentive - our fan broke in our room and they fixed it immediately with no problems.

There were quite a lot of insects and mosquitos so worth picking up a bug spray ( i got one from a shop just down the road) The bathroom is down a set of stairs inside of the lodge and the windows are covered by a mesh - this unfortunately did not stop the bugs getting in. over 130+ steps to reach the resort but its still worth the view. just bare this in mind if you have a large amount of luggage.
