Our second stay at Eight. Warm welcome at reception. This time we had a Superior King room which is in a separate building to the main hotel - only 1 min walk away which wasn't a problem. The room is in a lovely building, beautifully decorated, spacious with high ceilings and spotless ensuite shower room. Comfortable bed and good selection of tea/choc/coffee in the room.

Whilst the location in central Bath is great, it meant this room was noisy. It was on the ground floor by the main entrance so there was quite a bit of door slamming and we had loud upstairs neighbours who you could hear walking around (heavily) both at night and first thing in the morning from about 06.30. Plus, we were unlucky to have a shop alarm going off for an hour first thing and vehicles reversing right outside the window. Obviously not the hotel's fault but worth considering if you want a quiet lie in.

The location is great, right in the middle of the old town, three minutes walking distance to Baths. The hotel is small and the building is very old, possibly from 1500s but that is what you expect from a building that sits next door (literally) from the oldest surviving residential building in town, from the 1400s. Although old, the hotel is well mantained and very clean. There is a bar in the basement that is up to you to use after the personnel leaves at about 6 pm. You just keep a record of what you drink and of course you can bring your own food and drinks. We had a good time there. Our son had his own room, basically. His quarters had no door, but it was a separate space with a bed, very convenient.

Nothing, really. You need to understand the limitations, that you are going to a historical building that must have relatively small rooms, short doors etc, a small inconvenience as part of the experience. Once you adjust your expectations, this hotel will surprise you as a really comfortable and welcoming place.

Fantastic location, comfortable bed, powerful showers, clean, staff were great, loved the honesty bar.

It was a bit warm and hard to cool down as our room was below ground level and the bathroom was lower still with no external ventilation so showering really warmed the whole room, and the one window didn’t create enough airflow. We were also below the main hallway and the room above us seemed to think moving around and dropping things at 4am was ok. So it was a bit hard to sleep with the noise of footfall above us. That said earplugs were provided!

This hotel truly deserves its fabulous rating. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Beautiful room with thoughtful touches like bottled water, homemade biscuits and even a Christmas card and cracker! Breakfast was £20 pp and well worth the money, we are foodies and this exceeded our expectations. We loved the location being so close to the shops and markets. The honesty bar just topped off the whole experience for us … we can’t wait to return one day

Beautiful building and a large beautiful room. The location was outstanding for a tourist. The hotel has no parking but there is a 20 minute loading zone just a 1/2 block away. The staff took out suitcases to our room while we moved our car to public parking, which was super sweet!

The bed was quite soft and uncomfortable. We were in the second building on Abbey Green and it was very LOUD. Garbage trucks, street sweepers, people yelling, etc.

Had an excellent 2 night stay at Eight to celebrate my partners birthday. The room we stayed in was the “snug” room however we still had plenty of space and the room itself was spotlessly clean. The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring the city and super super close to the Roman Baths! The staff were extremely polite and helpful. We even had balloons & chocolates in our room to celebrate my partners birthday which was lovely. Really couldn’t fault our stay at Eight!

The only thing I would say is possibly some more choice on breakfast menu! I’m not a huge fan of cooked breakfasts so had the continental which was really good! Just would like maybe some other option that wasn’t cooked breakfast.

Eight is in a fabulous central location. There may be a little night time noise though but it did not bother us. The staff could not be more helpful and allowed us to book in early as our room was ready. They gave us great recommendations for places to visit. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable we highly recommend

Obviously there is no parking facilities- but we knew this before booking. This is likely the same as most other hotels in this central location

Lovely old building full of character (including the wonky stairs!) The location is 15 minutes walk max to Bath Spa rail station, a couple of minutes from the Abbey, Parade Gardens, lots of restaurant options. Bear in mind that this also means that there are a few pubs nearby, we stayed on a Saturday and were woken several times by drunken shouting in the street. This isn't the hotel's fault of course and they provide eye masks and ear plugs. However, be aware of this if you are a light sleeper. The room was nicely furnished and the showroom too. There was a kettle, coffee machine and water provided. The bed was comfy and the lady who checked us in friendly but not in your face. There is an honesty bar downstairs which is a nice idea. Room was snug but was advertised as such.

Noise as mentioned about but again if you stay in a central location, that's what you'll get.

Location was phenomenal. Property very cool in location & look. Room on top floor winding staircase - spacious & very clean, great amenities, terrific view of the Abbey! Monica checked us in, made fabulous dinner reservations for us, gave us rec of coffee, deli etc - she was so helpful and excellent in every way. She also allowed us an early check in as room was available. In addition, we came back from Stonehenge fully drenched to the bone and she put out clothes in the dryer for us! Truly went over and above.

Bed not fully comfortable, could use a topper, and shower floor extremely slippery, reported next day to great staff who said they would fix ASAP for next customers.

Location, service, breakfast and lovely decor. Fantastic! There’s this wonderful lower lounge with honesty bar that’s just perfect for a rest or drink. The alcove space in our room for our son was perfect and so charming

One tiny negative. There’s a nightlight near the floor in the bathroom (love that there’s one!) that’s a tad too bright. It needs a dimmer or an optional cover. We just used a t-shirt to mute it a bit.
