Loved staying here, very welcoming staff who couldn't do enough for us. Beautiful rustic features. Large and well presented bedroom and private bathroom with all amenities we could need. Bar area was lovely with lots of choices. Location is only a few minutes from local shops and the stunning Berkeley Castle. Breakfast was perfect. We had the full English breakfast, tea, and juice. In addition, we had the options of cereals and other items. There were no limitations of one choice or the other. Plenty of parking and area felt very safe. Thank you team x
The mattress was a little firm for me, but that is personal preference. There is a slight dip to one side that may need checking, but DO NOT let this deter anyone from booking! It's just an observation that I'm sure the team will look into. It was a wonderful stay, and we will again without hesitation

Malt House is easy to find. The property has its own car park with direct access to and from the back which is very convenient. The rooms are on the first floor, above the pub, with a guest code allowing entrance to that part of the building. So it felt very safe. Our room was small but well laid out with all the necessary amenities. We found a warm water kettle and cups to prepare tea, coffee or hot chocolate. The bed was comfortable and had good lighting for reading. The bathroom was clean, the heating was functioning. We had dinner In Malt House which we enjoyed after a long busy day. The food was good, so was the beer. Breakfast, which was included in the price, was excellent. Apart from yogurt, cereals, juice, jam, butter and bread, we had a proper English breakfast, well prepared and served by a very friendly lady.
Nothing. All was perfect for our one night stay.

I had a lovely stay at this traditional Countryside pub inn. The room was simple but very clean, one of the cleanest places I’ve stayed at in the UK, even though it could use a bit of DIY in some areas. The staff were absolutely wonderful—friendly, welcoming, and always helpful. The English breakfast was basic but home-cooked and comforting. It was incredibly quiet in the evenings, and I really appreciated the blackout curtains, making it properly dark for a great night's sleep. If you're looking for a peaceful and authentic experience, this is a great spot!
There wasn’t much that I didn’t like, but the bathroom could use a bit of renovation. It was functional, but with some TLC, it would look much nicer. I also thought there was no private parking based on the FAQ, but I discovered a safer parking spot at the rear of the pub, which was a plus compared to the nearby public park.

The room was probably the largest room I have ever stayed in while visiting Europe. The bed was comfortable, windows open, there was a fan if needed in the closet which was a great addition, iron and ironing board, the water got really hot which was nice, and the staff was lovely. Fresh English breakfast was made each morning. I also had 2 dinners there and both were fantastic. The staff let me hang out in the pub waiting for my Uber in the morning before they were even open which was really nice. It is in a great spot, it was a 4 minute walk to the church and the houses my family were staying in for a wedding.
The property is definitely dated but that aside, is still very clean and comfortable. If you are looking for a 5 star resort and modern decor, this is not it, but it does not detract from the charm of the building. The only thing that would have made the room better would be to have a blow dryer available in the room, modern USB ports integrated into the wall socket, and real toilet paper rather than squares (I assume this was for older plumbing so it didn’t clog the line) these are all minor things and I would 100% stay again and would recommend it to others.

Firstly the room was "huge". Contained a double and two singles so more than adequate for a couple. Room was very clean especially taking into account the size of the room and that it was a very old property with oak beams. Had all the facilities you would need, WiFi, TV, alarm clock, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, desk area. The staff was really friendly and although we didn't eat in the restaurant we did visit the bar for a drink and the bar man was very friendly and polite. Breakfast was wonderful and the lady serving, possibly Wendy (?) was very attentive without being overbearing. In conclusion, we would definitely be looking to book again when in the area. Highly recommended.
The only issue we had, and is only a very small one was the bathroom. Shower over bath was a little difficult to get to the right temperature and the toilet took a few attempts to flush. But these were minor issues.

The Malt House was a lovely little place to stay. As guests at a wedding at Berkeley Castle it was the perfect place to stay as the castle was a 5 minute walk away. The rooms were slightly dated but that fit the character of the building and location. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. And the breakfast was fantastic. We'd definitely stay again.
The bar and dining room were dated and would benefit from some refurbishment. That said it was clean and the food was great.

The room was lovely and the staff really helpful. My evening meal was good and good value for money. My breakfast poached eggs were perfectly cooked - a big bonus! Plenty of parking too - another bonus.
I would have liked to have had black pudding and tomatoes included in the breakfast menu and more fruits in the fresh fruit salad - although I do understand that if you don't have many guests this may be difficult. I am also not keen on having to put numbers into a pad on a door to gain access to the bedroom area.

A lovely clean hotel with excellent, friendly staff. The room was easily big enough for us with a comfortable bed and a large TV. Breakfast was good and well cooked.
A very minor thing but it definitely did not spoil our stay. It would have been nice to have better sausages at breakfast. They tasted a bit cheep. A proper butcher’s sausage would have made it perfect.

The hosts. Two lovely women who obviously cared about standards. The bed was comfortable. I had a bathroom with a bath and shower. A bath is essential for me when booking an hotel. Breakfast was good..
It was not as close to Lydney as stated on your website. That was a river to traverse via the old Severn Bridge crossing. It was an hours drive.

This is a fantastic inn and Wendy and her team could not have made us more welcome. The food was delicious and it didn't matter that they do not usually do dinner on Sunday or Bank Holiday as Wendy cooked just for us one evening and brought us plates for our picnic on the other. Highly recommended!
Nothing.
