It was a warm welcome, and we absolutely loved the house, we had a fabulous, well lit room. Best night sleep I could have had away from my bed! Very yummy continental breakfast. Bus stops straight outside to go to the centre of town, nighttime buses too!

There was nothing at all wrong with out stay! 100% recommend.

The hosts were absolutely wonderful. On arrival Cathy provided us with lots of information on Edinburgh, where to go and what to do and provided us with details on the bus routes that got us right into the centre of town. The bus stop location couldn't be more convenient, it really is right outside the hotel and they come very frequently with lots of options so you're right into town quickly. Our bedroom was very comfortable and though on the warmer side, there was plenty of ventilation which was just fine for us. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was a lovely, lighter start to the day with fruit or pastry options alongside a selection of cereal options and yoghurt.

Our room was on the top floor which could make it fairly warm, but this was a very minor flaw and not one that could be helped. Just worth noting for anyone who may find sleeping in heat in the summer a problem. Our room didn't have a standing shower due to it's shape, but again this was not really an issue for us.

We booked this stay at the last minute when we found out our other hotel couldn’t hold our bags before check-in. We showed up almost promptly at 9 asking them to store 2 big bags, 2 carry-ons, and 2 backpacks and they didn’t bat an eye, they even took them to our room for us once it was ready. We did have a few questions after-hours on our first night and the hosts were very generous with their time. It was clean, it’s super close to Cameron Toll shopping center, smart TV in our room + a fan, and we were able to do express check-out when we left to catch our flight at 4am. It was decently priced for the area as well.

It’s a good 40-45 minute walk from city center, but there is a bus that can take you there and bring you back.

Clean, spacious room. No curfew. Adults only. Car park at front and ample parking on side street with no time limits or permits required. Ideal location with regular bus services outside the b&b into Edinburgh centre. Kath is a lovely host, very welcoming.

Wasn't really a dislike as such, but on booking.com, photos showed full English breakfast and didn't state continental only, so we expected a hot option. We think for the price, a small hot option would be ideal to be included. We are happy to preorder a hot option, too, just like we did with the continental the night before. It wouldn't stop us from booking here again, though. We would just be mindful of no hot options.

Alba House is conveniently located just outside of city center. You can get just about everywhere in 20 minutes via bus. The bus stop is just across the street from the BnB. Cath, the owner, is very sweet and helpful with directions and recommendations. Our room was very spacious, clean, comfortable, and quiet. Breakfast in the morning was fresh and very good. This was the perfect stay for our trip to Edinburgh. I would 100% stay here again.

I can not think of anything that I did not like. There is just too much good about the place!

The owner of the accommodation was ready to greet us with a friendly welcome and provide us with all necessary information etc. She was also very helpful in providing additional dietary items for my wife. Nothing was too much bother. The breakfast was very lovely and more than enough to set us up for our day, The rooms were clean and bed was very comfortable. Location is great as it is far enough away from the busy centre but still ideally situated to get a bus ( stop right outside ) into town. We did walk into town also! When we choose to visit Edinburgh again we would happily stay here again.

Excellent location. It's a 10 minute bus ride from the city centre down one straight road. Buses 3, 7, 8, 29, 31,37 & 49 all stop at the bus stop outside Alba house. My room was on the top floor/ attic. The stairs leading there are a bit narrow and winding. Not a problem for the average person. You will find much more challenging steps around Edinburgh!! My room was spotless and the bed so so comfortable. The guest house owner Cath was adorable. Chatty, smiling, helpful. Able to guide you with local information. Her breakfast was delicious. You will not set out for the day hungry, that is for sure!!! Code and key for the front doors so you can get in as late as you please. I was able to leave my baggage there on check out day so I could continue exploring and picked it up later.

My room had a bath (only option as it's in the eaves) with a hand held shower attatchment. I knew this when I booked. It's not a negative as I was here for 2 nights , but some people might find it awkward getting in and out of a bath.

The Breakfast was great, set us up before our trip to the city. The bus service is excellent, a choice of 7 buses to and from the city. We chose the only twin room which was in the attic space as we don't sleep together as sisters. Room was lovely overlooking the garden.

the winding narrow stairs leading up to the twin room was a bit hazardous, but it did state that on the website.( my fault for not reading it properly). However we managed and Cath organised for our cases to be taken up and brought back down at the end of our stay.

Brilliant stay, the host couldn't have been more friendly. She even borrowed us an umbrella for the rain, she gave us recommendations on where to go and what buses to catch. The room was perfect for what we needed, comfy beds and clean. The location is out of the city center but the bus stop is just outside which takes you straight into the center and very easy to use.

A cooked breakfast option would have been good, but there are so many places to eat in the center it wasn't an issue.

We had a wonderful stay at Alba House. Cath was a thoughtful and attentive host, always pleasant and happy to help. She gave us lots of information about the city and which bus we needed to wherever we were headed. The bus stops were conveniently located outside, in view of the room, and our car remained parked for our stay. It was very easy to go in and out of the city with such regular buses on hand. Our room, No 7, was clean, warm and attractive. The ensuite was good with plenty of clean towels on the heated rail. There were also several mirrors and plenty of sockets for charging phones, drying hair etc in the bedroom. There was a combination of wall, ceiling lights and lamps. Breakfast was well catered for and delicious, with lots to eat and drink, freshly prepared to order. No sausages or bacon but fresh fruits, cereal, yogurt, toast, juice, pastries and tea/coffee. We never left hungry. We can't wait to come again and continue exploring this great city.

The beautiful old house only has single glazing. Whilst any cold is offset by the excellent and extensive heating throughout, unfortunately, were a little disturbed at night by the relentless traffic; cars, buses, emergency vehicles etc. It would also have been nice if it had been a smart tv and perhaps a stool for when using hairdryer near sockets.
