excellent location, with close proximity to Arthur’s seat and the beautiful hills and fields beneath, which made for a stunning evening walk and all less than a 10 min stroll back to the hotel. The room was clean, comfortable and well-equipped with complimentary soaps and shampoos etc. Bed linen of good quality and the bed itself extremely comfortable and meant I had a really good nights sleep. Staff extremely friendly and professional and the service is efficient and fuss-free. Good variety of choice in the continental breakfast ~ a cooked breakfast would have been nice and I would have been prepared to pay extra for this option. The free car park attached is such an added bonus and something I have not encountered in Edinburgh before. I’ve already booked to return later in the year and am very much looking forward to it.

The room was spacious and tastefully decorated, with a wide and comfortable bed. Everything was impeccably clean, and we appreciated the complimentary cookies and tea/coffee. The breakfast was of good quality, offering a nice variety of fresh fruits, ham, cheese, croissants... On our last day, since we had an early departure, the hotel provided us with a take-away breakfast. The hotel is conveniently located near bus stations, offering great connections to the city and the main train station, although it’s about a 20-minute easy walk to the city center. 2 golf clubs are also within walking distance, making it an ideal location for both city exploration and golfing. Overall, a fantastic experience!

We liked everything! Aurora on reception was very friendly and super helpful in answering all of my questions throughout our stay. She is truly an asset to the property. Also, the lady in the breakfast room both mornings was super friendly and smiley and nothing was any trouble for her regarding breakfast (I'm really sorry I did not get her name 😞) Breakfast was great! A nice selection of continental items, tea coffee etc. The hotel is a lovely old building with charm. Free parking a big plus! We liked the location as it is nice and quiet but close enough for a 5/10 minute bus ride to the centre. There are plenty of shops and a really nice pub at the end of the road for food and drinks. We enjoyed being able to be close enough to the hustle and bustle but far away enough to enjoy a quiet night's sleep. Also a taxi from the town less than a tenner at the end of the night when can't be bothered to wait for a bus is more than fair. Don't hesitate to book here if visiting Edinburgh!!

Small thing is no cooked breakfast but this is very clearly outlined when booking and we did not book here expecting a fry up as this was already explained when booking the room.

The location is awesome, it is right next to the bus station with numerous buses that can take you to the city centre. We had a smaller room on the ground floor, but it was spacious enough and supplied with everything you need. The entire hotel has a victorian vibe and if you are expecting the newest furniture and decore at a 4 star hotel you will be disappointed. But the bed was comfortable and everything was clean so it suited us! Good food!

They had a problem with the dining area so we had room service, we had to fill out a form to choose what we want for breakfast, but even though we were given the right to choose, the breakfast was pretty random and we got a few things we didnt order and didnt get the things we wanted, however the FOOD WAS GOOD!

A gem in Edinburgh. Location is very good, very close to the cebtre from the Newington area. It is accessible by frequent buses. The rooms are cosy and pleasant. Toiletries are topped up and changed every day as well as coffee/tea facilities. The hotel is spotless! Breakfast is delicious too, you can find anything from toast to cereal to croissants. Staff iare super sweet, they make you feel welcome in an instant. The self check-in procedure is very simple too if you arrive late at night. Thank you Salisbury Hotel! We miss you already and if we ever return to Edinburgh we’ll book you again. Thank you also for going the extra mile for our honeymoon. We appreciate.

Nothing.

Room was good, breakfast was fantastic (best continental breakfast I had) and the service was phenomenal all around from checkin to breakfast to checkout. It is also a straight walk from the train station which was great.

Cons: the shower-- it would just spill into the rest of the bathroom and flood it, since there was no door. Also the sink would clog. The neighborhood is very quiet but unfortunately you will be able to hear people in the neighboring rooms, I found this out in the middle of the night when it sounded like my next door neighbors were playing pool on the wall.

This is a fabulous hotel in a quiet street in the Southside of the city. A beautiful Georgian building, that would have been an impressive private residence, with large windows and high ceilings. Our room was large and beautifully decorated with a sofa and additional seating, a cut above the usual identikit double room. The bathroom fittings and shower were of high quality and there was plenty of wardrobe space. The room punched above its weight for the price paid. The staff were obliging and friendly and the breakfast room/restaurant was a lovely space with a Lebanese theme. We are definitely coming back here on our next visit to Edinburgh, and it’s only a 20 minute walk from the Royal Mile.

Cozy space that fully met our needs and expectations. The entire team was tireless, friendly and very helpful. On a day when we had to leave before the opening of the breakfast service, they took care to prepare and make it available the day before, and we were able to meet our commitment in a timely manner. They were kind enough to store our luggage for a while on the day of departure so that we could enjoy this destination that was so special to us for a few more hours. We can only be grateful for this, as it helped to make our trip, for which we had a lot of expectations, unforgettable. Thank you very much!

It's a lovely boutique hotel, it looks better in reality, they should take better pictures, because the current ones don't do it justice. The beds were very comfortable, I liked the details, like 2 pillows, 2 toppers on the beds although the mattresses were good, the extra blanket which comes in handy if the wind is blowing a little hard at night (even it was the beginning of June), you have 2 extra heat sources, I believe they are very handy in the winters or even fall, the doors don't slam, they have a very nice closing mechanism and you don't hear the neighbours, the room has carpet and that helps with the soundproofing, of course. They have a lovely garden although we didn't get the chance to enjoy it but it looks cozy. Also the room we were in it's facing a garden and it was very quiet. The staff was very friendly, the rooms are named names, like Salisbury, St. Leonard, or Willowbrae, which I found very nice, not just a number. Breakfast was also nice, although they don't have a huge variety, you find sorting to eat, cereals, granola, yogurt, pastries, fresh fruit every morning, I really liked the staying here, and I recommend it to anyone. The bus station is 2 minutes from the hotel. I recommend Edinburgh as a destination, it is a wonderful city, even if we traveled for work, we explored it a bit and I totally recommend it for anyone, couples, friends, elders, families with children.

It's a bit of a walk to the city center, like 15-20 minutes, depending on the pace, not that bad, it's not that inconvenient, it's a long street with a lot of restaurants (many of them asian) and it takes just a bit more than with the bus because for some reason they have very close stops and with the bus it takes almost as long as walking to arrive in the city centre, though it's better to take the bus if you're tired. Not really a bad thing, but it's the only inconvenient I found.

A very charming hotel not far from the city center. The room was comfortable and boutique hotel like - loved the details (like the curtain tassels). The bathroom was modern and the room even had a mini fridge. The breakfast was amazing for a continental breakfast. The employees were very nice and helpful. I would recommend taking the bus from and to the city center, but you can also walk (took me about 30 to 40 minutes). The self check-in (after 8pm) worked very well. There are supermarkets and a very nice Pub close by.

My room / bathroom wasn’t totally clean, but it was nothing that made me want to contact someone. The self check-in worked very well, but for me it was a bit of an odd feeling knowing that there‘s no night reception (e.g. if something happens to the key card).
