The hotel was perfect for us in every way. First time in Edinburgh and didn't disappoint. The hotel was quiet at night, clean and comfortable. Fantastic breakfast included with our stay with good choices. The bar in the hotel was also a nice place to start the evening with our friends who also stayed there before venturing out. Kevin and his wife were excellent hosts and we will definitely be returning when we visit Edinburgh again. There is no lift as it is an old building so being on the 2nd floor may be a challenge if you have mobility issues, we were OK as we stayed on the 1st floor, however you can request a ground flood if required when booking so all good. There is a bus stop just a couple of minutes walk with regular buses into the centre which takes around 10/15 minutes. Really easy to get around Edinburgh with buses, trams and Uber taxis

The owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming, we felt home right away! We had a beautiful room with high ceilings and a large window overlooking the backyard (sipping a tea there in Edinburgh autumn was a dream). Very good choice for breakfast, available to take away if you have a day trip. You have 3/4 buses that can take you to the Old Town in less than 20 minutes, and Holyrood park is just 10 minutes walking away.

Everything was exceptional: -The hotel: lovely, charming, classic decoration. Really beautiful. -The room: cozy, the bed was extremely comfortable, we had a great view as well. -The staff: super friendly and nice. It seems to be run by the owners. We met Kevin the day we arrived and he gave us great recommendations for the city. He help us out with an early check in that was highly appreciated after a long flight. -Breakfast: Really delicious. It’s made to order with great options. I asked the eggs with salmon that was so tasty! -Location: it’s really well located. 2 mins walk from the bus stop that takes you everywhere in no time. If you want to walk, it’s a 25 nice and beautiful walk to the old town. I highly recommend staying here.
That I had to leave. I’d love to spend more time at this property.

Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Very attentive as well and went out of their way to support me in finding my way around the city and to my destinations. Had a small issue with the shower which was promptly fixed. Breakfast was good with friendly service. Bed was comfortable. Good connections to the city centre via bus. Located in a nice and quiet residential area.
Bathroom was very small and somewhat cramped, especially for a tall person. I stayed in the single room on the top floor and the bathroom and shower size can be a challenge if you’re tall. Not the owners’ fault though. This is a beautiful older house and I wasn’t expecting spacious rooms. Just want to note this in case small spaces may be an issue for someone.

The owner communication before arrival and his welcoming has been great. His kindness in helping us in everything it helps to feel supported. That's a great value for the staying. The room was big and clean as well as the bathroom. Mattress was ( finally after a long trip in Scotland ) very good to sleep at. We walk to the city and it was 20 minutes to reach the center.
The room was ground floor close to the entrance and you can hear everyone coming in and out from early morning. Also someone stay at the door entrance waiting for the cab and we could hear all their talks. There was hot hair dryer.

Ceilidh-Donia was a gem of a find for our visit to Edinburgh. Ease of access to the city by bus. The service was excellent. Kevin and Sue made us very welcome. Kevin is an excellent host, greeting his guests, giving helpful information on how to navigate the city, and generally entertaining conversations.
For us personally, there was nothing to dislike. You will need transport into the city, but this is clear on booking. The hotel is located in a predominantly residential area, which for us is a bonus, but others may want something different.

Kevin and Susan make this friendly Hotel a joy to stay at. I was unwell during my stay and Kevin and Susan went out of their way to assist me. Due to some shuffling, I spent time in 2 rooms - both were very comfortable with a few extras like a shower cap and hand lotion. Breakfast was extensive and home cooked. Kevin was always helpful with advice for buses etc.
The location is a bit out of town but the buses are frequent so this isn't an issue. There are stairs to consider but Kevin assisted me with my bags.

This hotel exceeded expectations with its exceptionally friendly staff who went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable stay. The breakfast spread was impressive, offering a variety of options to cater to different tastes. Its convenient location, just a 20-minute bus ride from the city center, made exploring the area hassle-free. Overall, a highly recommended choice for those seeking a welcoming atmosphere, delicious breakfast, and easy access to the city’s attractions.
However, the only downside was the small size of the room and occasional noise disturbances, detracting slightly from an otherwise pleasant experience.

The staff was very friendly and put a lot of effort to make you feel at home. Breakfast was amazing. Every morning they would take your order and made it straight away. The room was nice and quiet. Everything you need is there. Also: my friend lost her wallet and we told the staff it is probably somewhere outside the hotel but just to be sure we asked the cleaning staff if they are cleaning the room just to keep an eye on it. When we came back into our room they literally moved all the furtniture to make sure it wasn't in the room. They were really helpful.
The showerhead wasn't really powerful. That's the only thing that could be better.

Loved everything about this charming hotel. Great location, quiet, excellent breakfast, near transportation, perfectly appointed room.
My one small thing is that my husband is tall and the bed was a full. It felt small. We are both slim but the edges of the mattress were lower than the middle. I ended up hanging off the edge and had a sore back in the morning. It was just a little small for us. If I booked again, I’d make sure to book a king or queen. It would be perfect if you were alone.
