We got an upgrade to a refurbished room nice surprise. Roomy and quiet. Breakfast was varied and great service from the two Asian ladies Nice welcome when checking in from the South American front manager
Location a little too far out if you don't have a car though we took Uber no problem getting one quickly. Dinner is hit and miss we had a good meal first night but second night only one pasta dish left which seemed a left over and not fresh. Need to be more generous with veggie ifor 5 pounds. The hallways need carpet replaced which is probably part of a long term upgrade as they upgrade more rooms.

The bed was really comfortable. The room was well laid out. Good tv and liked the complimentary tea and coffee. Staff were friendly and breakfast was good. The bacon was really good. Liked the swimming pool which was warm. The pool area wasn't as clean as the hotel. Loved the complimentary drinks voucher, much appreciated. Easy to get into Edinburgh on the 26 bus too. Free carpark was appreciated.
The fire doors were wedged open! The pool area could have been cleaner. Everything else was good. Some staff could have benefited from a little more training at breakfast, but reception and bar and restaurant staff in the evening were great.

The restaurant was a real highlight. The breakfast was excellent and we ate a couple of evening meals there too. The prices were reasonable (worth noting that kids eat free at breakfast) and the food was very good. The staff at reception and in the restaurant were all great. The nearby bus stop was very convenient for visiting the city.
It's a minor thing, but the door guard (the little bar that stops the door from opening, like a door chain) and the safe were both broken in our room, which made us worry about the security of the hotel a little. However, we stayed there for 3 days and never felt unsafe. The car park had CCTV which made us feel more secure as well.

We absolutely loved the staff that took care of us during our stay, especially beyond lovely receptionist Ana. :) We enjoyed a pretty big room, decent breakfast and a dinner. Also a free entry to their leisure club was a great bonus as we walked through the city extensively every day. Hotel is situated in a safe, very accessible area by public transport and thanks to the huge park in front of it, even the air was great.
Walls and doors were pretty thin, so we could hear pretty much everything outside our room (from the hall and neighbouring rooms, too). Also the carpet in our room would need some harder professional cleaning for sure.

Room was very spacious, bed very comfortable and decent sized bathroom with good water pressure. Towels a little on the thin side but were a good size. Reception staff and breakfast staff were very friendly and gave good service and advice. Just around the corner from the bus stop into Edinburgh - very handy and approximately 20-30 minutes' travel time with about 15 minutes between buses. (Be advised that you need to signal the bus driver as they pull into the stop or they will keep going - we found out the hard way!!)
Room was a little too warm at times - even with the heating turned off. Room was clean but was a little shabby. Ceiling of bathroom peeling and flaking over the shower. Walls of bathroom dripping with water after a shower. Bar staff were rushed off their feet - could have done with at least one or two more staff in the evenings - which could have accounted for their curtness of response.

1st - all the staff was amazing, kind, and very helpful. 10/10 for the staff (thank you all!) We arrived quite early at the hotel, but they were happy to keep our luggage there until the check-in time, same on the last day, we checked out at 11am and left our luggage at the reception until 6pm (thank you!). The rooms were clean, beddings clean, smelled nice everywhere in the hotel. Our room was right at the end of the corridor (72) and it was bigger than we expected! Nice! You get everything you need in the room, big TV (not a smart one), coffee, kettle, milk, tea, etc. Iron, ironing board (surprised about these 2), a safe in the wardrobe, hairdryer, etc. Beds were nice and firm (I do like them very firm so was a bonus for me). Good facilities, tried both the steam room and the sauna. The pool was nice and never too busy during our stay (with clear instructions both from the reception and the desk at the pool). Food was nice, good breakfast and all.
Some things give it away as being an older building. The main thing we noticed was the creaking flooring in the rooms (also not very well noise-proofed). We could hear the guests above us walking around the room every time 😅 Not a biggie, but still... Also, the shower head could use with a replacement as it was leaking. Again, not something major. The green stools at the bar could use a hoover.

The room was tidy, beds made towels replaced and cups replenished daily. The curtains kept the room really dark when we wanted to sleep in, the bed was very comfortable and we had plenty of storage space for our belongings. The staff were lovely and very helpful. We were given complimentary drinks (which we didn't get time to use) but would consider coming back to try the restaurant as it was always busy and looked nice. The hotel was right around the corner from the bus into town which was really handy.
No flannels I didn't bring mine because I thought there would be some. The walls are very thin and we could hear next doors TV and everything that was said in the corridor. The room was too hot but we're able to open the window which helped.

This is a great value and my room was huge. I'm on a tour and have stayed in London and Liverpool; this was my largest room. The bed is huge....HUGE. The room is very comfortable and spacious. It even had a sofa and a table in addition to a desk. The TV was big. Lots of big pillows. Great shower. The staff was very nice.
The location stinks, at least for me. It's too far from the city. If you're coming to Edinburgh to sight-see, it'll take you a while to get to the city. The bar is just a typical hotel bar and there's nothing specifically Scottish about it other than the staff, who are all lovely. I like them.

Everyone in the reception was very friendly Especially the one who helped us with the check in. The hotel is really close to a bus station where the 26 bus starts so we could sit on the top floor of the bus, which is basically a sightseeing tour. So the employees and location are perfect. The sauna and steamroom is awesome. I can only recommend this hotel. The breakfast was not the best i've ever had, but there are plenty of options and as someone with a dairy allergy, I really appreciate that.
The safe in our room was broken. We couldn't use it. Once we had dinner and there were only 2 waiters in the restaurant. Although the waiter who served us was very nice, they were very slow. We waited over 10 minutes for someone to come to our table and there were only 4 tables including us. With a 1.5 year old child on my lap, I would have appreciated faster service.

The staff were super lovely, helpful and attentive, always had a smile in their faces and they were happy to answer any questions we had. Maria took the very best care of us, and was alwas ready to give advise or even have a little chat / recommendations in regards to the city, transport links and the like. Breakfast was just as amazing - choice of full scottish breakfast or continental with pastries, it left nothing to be desired - Bonus points for offering Almond and Soy milk within the breakfast menu. We received a voucher for complimentary free drinks upon arrival and a 10% discount voucher to use for our entire stay valid for the hotel bar / restaurant. Another big bonus point are the juvenate facilities, which are free to use at no additional cost during the stay: A swimming pool, a sauna, a steam room and a gym are available to all guests, which we made ample use of. Another big plus for this hotel is the big car park (About 100 parking spaces), which is also offered to use for free.
It's not really anything they could improve as more something to consider for guests staying; although the floors in the hallways and rooms are fully carpeted, the building seems to be slightly older (It doesn't look it though), so the floorboards in the hallway and the room may creak, if someone passes your room or someone walks upstairs. The rooms themselves are well insulated against noise though - you won't hear the people in the rooms next to you or above you. The creaking itself is not super loud, but if you're a light sleeper, earplugs may come in handy.
