You couldn't get a better location as it is right on the Royal Mile. The room wasn't overly large but the bed very comfy and loads of amenities (even a wine bucket). When you walk in to the property you find yourself in a traditional Scottish pub/bar. Only 9 rooms and they are above the pub. You'd think with the location and the pub it would be noisy. Instead, the room was extraordinarily quiet! We actually found it very convenient to have the pub downstairs as we could grab breakfast, lunch or dinner! The people running the place were extremely helpful and friendly.

We were 2 levels up so that's alot of stairs (no lift). It really wasn't an issue for us but it an issue with anyone who has mobility issues. BTW, the staff was very quick to take our luggage up and down so we didn't have to deal with that.

Room was spacious, attractive, cosy and very comfortable. Separate bathroom and toilet was nice, as was sweet little view of some of the city. The bar below had a lovely atmosphere. The windows were original but double-glazed over which blocked almost all noise out. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfasts were very tasty and different. The tea and coffee facilities in the room were appreciated, as were the hair straighteners, as it meant I could travel lighter! Nice mini bar (not used).

The breakfasts should've been served hotter, the temperature of them was 'patchy', but were tasty none the less

Location was perfect for our needs. Only 9 rooms for a personalized experience. Pub on ground level was so convenient after a long day of sightseeing making it easy to get a meal. Rooms were decorated beautifully. Bed very comfortable. Quiet despite being on the mile. All the staff were friendly and extra helpful. The wait staff and bartenders in the pub were great. The housekeepers were very nice. Joe was especially helpful as our room heat wasn’t working the first night. He kept at it until we got heat for our room. Taxi stand at property right next door for convenience.

No elevator. There were a lot of steps up to our first floor room.

I spent a weekend here in December, while visiting the Christmas markets and I made a great choice. It was my first time in Edinburgh and I wanted to make it memorable one! I'm so happy I chose to stay here - Charming little Inn with great location on the Royal Mile, with everything on your doorstep. Beautiful bedroom, very clean with great housekeeping. Bar was beautiful and atmospheric with friendly and efficient staff and great food. I would highly recommend the Inn on the Mile, and will definitely visit again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Aisling D. It’s excellent. The room was spotless modern and had great decor with nothing overlooked. Big bed , white sheets and comfortable. The shower and bathroom was great with Arran aromatic after the rain soaps and shampoo. Big tv, with a free supply of Tunnocks tea cakes and caramel wafers. What more could you ask for! Its location is brilliant, right on the royal mile. It’s five minutes from the train station and everywhere is easy to walk to. Staff were lovely, great bar and restaurant downstairs.

Nothing. My only comment would be that you are above the lovely restaurant and bar. So it will be noisy until late. Not an issue for us, but if you were an early to bed person you might want to bring ear plugs until the music stops. But you’re in the centre of Edinburgh, stay out late !!! Once the music stopped it was fairly quiet for such a major city and being right on the mile and I slept well.

Comfortable room, outstanding breakfast, friendly staff. Good location with a caveat of beware this is central to the party scene …..

As the location is so central it appears also appears the centre of Edinburgh party scene, so when the pubs/clubs close at 3AM (!)the boisterous party goers like to continue their party loudly for another hour or so which is fine if your sleep is not disrupted! Not the responsibility of the hotel but better glazing would help deaden the noise.

Fantastic stay at the Inn on the Mile. The location is perfect for sightseeing and experiencing Old Town. The rooms are in a historic building on the Royal Mile. The rooms are above a restaurant/bar with live music but our rooms were silent and we never heard any noise from downstairs. We loved the private entrance to our rooms. The beds were huge and comfortable. We enjoyed having the restaurant downstairs. The Breakfast roll with juice and coffee is one of the best deals in the area. There is no lift and you have to walk up several steep stairs to the rooms but we actually like this.

10 out of 10, would highly recommend if you want to be in the heart of it all off The Royal Mile in beautiful Edinburgh. Friendly and professional staff, Garry, Monika and Joe to name but a few, who were most helpful during our 3 night stay. Really comfortable beds, we had Room 1 on the first floor and whilst we could hear the live music at night, it didn't prevent a good night's sleep. Great choice for breakfast. All in all, a terrific choice for our New Year's trip for Hogmanay. We'd have no hesitation in rebooking. Thank you all x

As the name suggests, Inn On The Mile is actually located on the Royal Mile. It is a short walk from Waverly Train Station, which suited our needs as we travelled to Edinburgh by train {LNER, which had good service and was fast}. Although the area is often crowded and touristy, and noisy, our room was quiet. It also had good views on two sides. Inn On The Mile appears to have been a bank in past years, and the downstairs bar was busy in the evening and had live music each night. The main entrance to our rooms was through the bar, although there was a doorway to the room opening from a stairway to the street. Our bedroom was large and well-furnished, and the bathroom was luxurious. A full breakfast was provided in the bar area each morning for guests of the hotel, and was quite good. Our hosts at the hotel were incredibly nice.

Visitors to Edinburg should be prepared for walking on wet, uneven surfaces, and ready also to climb and descend stairs. We were prepared for this. Inn On The Mile does not have an elevator, but we were traveling light and this was not an issue. Hotel prices in Edinburgh are incredibly high, and this was the most expensive hotel I have ever stayed in. However, the location and ambience are exceptional.

Our room on the second floor faced the street and the view was spectacular. We were right in the center of the tourist activity and there were lots of restaurants ans pubs to explore. The location is premium!! The room and the bathroom were spacious and amazingly comfortable. The business has a restaurant and pub downstairs the the food was very good and the prices were reasonable. I would definitely stay here again. Despite the traffic and activity below, on the street, our room was quiet and we slept well. There is a convenient parking garage (entrance off of Blackfriars St) which was about a 5-minute walk and their prices are slightly higher. It was very convenient.
