For a hostel, it's remarkably clean. The kitchen and common area are pretty nice and lively, and they offer free walking tours and whisky tastings in their own bar. There's a locker for your things that you lock with a personal code, and it's pretty easy to climb into the pods. Bathrooms and showers are big and clean.

Mixed dorms. There should be an option to have female/male only dorms. I got stuck with three guys in the dorm that made a snoring competition during the night.

Excellent location, very central on the royal mile. Close to shops, main attractions, and bus tours. Very helpful staff. Very good breakfast.

Only 2 washers and 1 functional dryer (out of 2) for the whole place. Squeaky floors even when we try to be quiet. In general the bathrooms are clean but many times housekeeping falling behind.

I had an amazing experience here. During check-in, I was informed that a "Taste of Scotland" experience would take place that evening. The person who hosted it was absolutely wonderful! I got to try some delicious, typically Scottish treats and learned a lot of funny and interesting facts. The pods themselves are very comfortable to sleep in, and the staff is incredibly friendly! The location of the hostel is fantastic and bathroom facilities were always clean and very practical! The lights in the room were also a bonus, very nice! Only positive remarks from me! :)

Traveling as a couple, my wife and I, the experience was great in many ways (we were apprehensive, but people were generally respectful). Comfortable capsule, had a curtain, cell phone cable socket, light, towels that we had to rent separately, in the room there was a locker with a password to store luggage, large bathrooms with several showers and mirrors (my wife loved it). Super cozy and welcoming kitchen, we bought food at the market and always came back to eat at the hostel. Location, the best possible, close to everything and within several tourist attractions. Great Internet.

Just a guest who behaved strangely, closely watching every movement, trying to invade privacy, conversations. Remembering that we don't have much privacy in a capsule room. It would be good if guests at check-in were reminded to respect each other's individuality and space so that there is no this type of embarrassment.

I really like this type of the accommodation. Great atmosphere. Welcome gifts - chocolate and note - on the bed were great! WhatsApp chat available to attend various events organised by hostel (Walking tour was very interesting!). And of course the central location of the place is just amazing! Locker available is a huge plus!

When I arrived, the towels were still left behind from previous guests. It would be great if these were removed before my arrival :-/ Water refill station's filter in a kitchen needs a change but you can use tap water in the meantime. I was worried to book a pod in a huge room - however the night was very peaceful. No problem with the sleep at all :-)

Even when staying in big dormitories, as I did, the Pod gives you a feeling of intimacy. I really didn't feel like I was in a dormitory for most of the time! The shared bathroom get attention at least 3 times a day, which make them very clean compared to the amount of people sharing them. It was very comfortable to use. They serve the most amazing Porridge I have ever tasted ! And the fully equipped kitchen makes the stay so convenient, when you have small appetite and want to make a light meal instead of having to go out in restaurants or fast food. This kitchen is also cleaned often, which is very comfortable to use.

The shared lobby/lounge space and kitchen are a little bit too small to accommodate all residents. You sometimes struggle to find a spot. Also, the front door doesn't close automatically. It then stays partially open when people are not carefull in closing it properly, so most of the time. It cools a lot the lounge space.

The pods are great! They give you a lot of privicy in a room for ten people, just don't book a pod if you feel uncomfortable in small spaces. The ladies bathroom on our floor had enough showers you only had to wait for the toillets sometimes, but it was never more than a few minutes. Lockers are numbered to match the beds. Be sure to go to reception, if yours has already been taken. It happened to me but I just took the next free one so then the guy who came after me didn't have a locker. As it turned out, whoever was there before me, locked it befor he/she left. The girl from reception was really nice about the misunderstanding, unlocked mine and the mistery was lifted. We had a nice time at the Code. The people and the overall vibe were great. We would definetley stay there again.

first time at a hostel, and wow did it impress us. the work staff are lovely, including the manageress who always make us feel welcomed every morning at breakfast. the food and drink was reasonably priced, and breakfast was lovely. the location is right on the royal mile, incredibly close to everything you need to see in the old town. the pods themselves are comfy, and fully equip. a fan was needed to keep cool but the staff were lovely about giving us one each.

the only thing that i could pick on is that there wasn’t any usb - usbc adapters to purchase. but this was incredibly minor. at the end of the day, we didn’t stay to be on our phones

The staff were brilliant, always eager to help and assist with recommendations at the ready. The rooms were great too, the pod style beds ensure you don't get disturbed much by the lights or sounds in the common areas of the room unless you're an extremely light sleeper. The common areas and kitchen have all the facilities you'll need. The location is perfect and close to grocery stores, restaurants and souvenir stores as well as the castle and most popular tourist places in Edinburgh. Buses are also easily accessible from the location. Everything you need is accessible by a code on a keypad so you never have to worry about losing keycards or keys.

Some of the bathroom stall doors were a bit stuck and needed fixing.
