The location is fab right in the heart of Helmsley. We had a suite room and it was gorgeous and very spacious. We even asked to have breakfast in the room it was so big!

The spa facilities are very small. We visited on New Year’s Eve and it was really busy meaning we had to stand around and wait to use the facilities because they were full. There is only 1 hot tub which was disappointing as a group of friends hogged it for over an hour meaning we didn’t even get to use it. Not necessarily the hotels fault but 1 customer brought their loud cockapoo to join them around the hot tub area and it sat and barked relentlessly. Not very relaxing or the atmosphere you’d expect at a spa! This was made more annoying as we also had our dog with us who was left in the room. I would have appreciated a staff member asking the person to remove their dog so other guests could relax but this didn’t happen. Sadly it spoiled the spa experience for us.

The heated outdoor pool and out door hot tubs where sensational..as outdoors is now the new indoors! Breakfast was also really superb as usual .

Faulty Wi-Fi, that only seemed to get sorted for demanding Guests from over the pond on the shoot. Who stayed in the Nouveux Riche poolside bungalows. We dined out in the the square both evenings at the trattoria,and at the Feathers hotel. as evening dining at the FA is really Stiff with private dining and all sorts of other weird rituals.

great location, underground parking was available and used - a good breakfast and an excellent evening meal. My wife planned a swim in the heated outdoor pool but a delay in getting a massage and facial completed on time unfortunately put the mockers on that. since we had dinner booked for 7pm. The issue we had with zero hot water was handled with an explanation by reception the following day and some goodwill therefore b both sides was exchanged.

No hot water:- Appears that on the night we stayed a failure of a section of the hotels hot water supply on our part of the hotel occurred, leaving us with cold water only when getting ready for a shower/dinner etc. so that really did cause us problems in our room. Having spoken with a grand couple the following morning a breakfast, who confirmed they were regular visitors to the hotel over many years, about the hot water problem, we felt assured it was a one off, genuine system failure and therefore we hoped the repairs would be quickly sorted ready for the next guests etc.

Cooked breakfast could not have been better though one morning we were not noticed for a while as we sat at our normal table that was adjacent to the main restaurant as we had our little dog with us. All the staff were excellent very friendly sociable and spoilt our dog at every opportunity which he loved

Sorry assumed that it could be a problem and it was as unlike the breakfast which we thoroughly enjoyed. We are not keen on ala carte menus we tried meals for two evenings and none of them pleased us in fact the lamb one should have gone back as one half was perfect but the other was chewy, neither of us found any of the meals tasty or enjoyable, EXCEPT the deserts as we had the same both evenings as it was EXCELLENT, The other two evenings we ate elsewhere. Would we go back Yes but unless they gave an alternative evening menu we would not take evening meals.

Room very small and no comfy chairs - old dining room chairs not appropriate for price

The staff on the whole were really efficient and the room was gorgeous and the little touches eg lamb for do not disturb, window seat and comfortable bedding, dressing gowns and flip flops and temple spa shampoos etc. The spa was fabulous and really relaxing and made for a fabulous break and I would definitely come again. The restaurant staff - I assume the restaurant manager (didn't get his name) and main bar staff - I think her name was Agnieszka (sorry if I spelt it wrong) were both attentive and personable and made you feel at ease.

I would say these are just minor things, the bedside light was brighter than the main light so personally I would prefer a lower watt bulb so I could read while my husband slept or if having to get up in the night. The young girl serving cocktails in the spa took almost 20minutes and when watching it appeared as if she did not know fully how to make them.

Dining room and bar staff excellent, we occupied a suite with a balcony overlooking the pool, room cleaned promptly every morning. Underground car park spacious. Did not use the spa. Location excellent, easy quick walk to the bustling town of Helmsley and various sights to visit within a short drive. Not our first visit to Helmsley but our first visit to this hotel. Would definitely recommend.

My partner likes to sit outside with a drink and cigar in the evening- there was no comfortable seating area where smoking was allowed.

Speedy and friendly check in, taken to our room. Large comfy bed. Nice breakfast. Heated pool.

Could have had a member of staff taking drinks orders at the pool, we had to keep going inside to ask. More magazines in the library/pool area. Cushions would be great on the outdoor sofas, very low without! Pool itself is looking a bit tired now, needs new tiles in many places and regrouting.

The outdoor pool was lovely...quiet and clean. I also was allocated a suite which was a bonus! The hotel is in a lovely location and must be one of the best in area. Its expensive but is a real treat.

Staff service not top notch. Forgetful. Also had a 5% service charge added to the bill ...was only told that this was discretionary when I challenged it. In view of service from staff being part of the deal when staying at any hotel, and that the staff, although very pleasant were not that good, I don't see why this should be added.

We are lucky enough to have an upgrade for our Wedding Anniversary, with a card and chocolates on the room. The suite was delightful, beautifully and tastefully decorated. We very much enjoyed the spa facilities, afterward I had a swim in the evening in the heated pool. At 5pm which is the time we were married ( on bonfire night) we were sat in the hot tub, outside with a delicious wine, twinkly lights and the church bells rang - very romantic 🥰 Drinks were served until late in a cosy setting. The breakfast was lovely with a great choice. Staff were polite, professional, welcoming and friendly.
